Grant's Rant: 12-24-20 James Harden's gift to Houston; A postponement of opening night. Dec 24, 2020

Show notes

Thank you, James Harden. Thanks from the team fans. Thanks from the Oklahoma City Thunder and thanks from your teammates. What a gift. A postponement of opening night. Clearly, the league rules weren't meant for you since you've been blatantly violating them for weeks. But now you've cost your team opening night, left fans disappointed they're not getting to watch their home team play and all the while taking no responsibility for your actions. Now that's one helluva Christmas gift to leave with everyone. For me, no thank you.

Grant's Rant: 12-23-20 Let's talk about Dwayne Haskins leadership. Dec 23, 2020

Show notes

I marvel at some of the things we've seen this year but this is one of the most incredible. So Dwayne Haskins has a chance to redeem himself. Comes from third string quarterback for the Washington Football Team and plays a decent game but still loses. Not something to really celebrate, right? I mean you got a second chance to prove yourself and, well, it didn't quite work out. So why not go to a strip club? And leave your mask in the car. The mask the NFL mandates you wear in public. Then party with the ladies who apparently have forgotten to wear more than just their masks. Really?
More in today's rant.

Episode 22: Let's talk NBA shall we? Dec 18, 2020

Show notes

So I want to talk a little bit about what's buzzing in the NBA. Maybe they're losing a little control. Look at Harden of the Houston Rockets. ESPN did a story this week and it basically said what I've been ranting about with Harden. And there's the Greek Freak Supermax deal. I'll get into a little more detail than I touched on in the rant yesterday. And then there's The Athletic's ranking of team ownership. Guess who came in dead last? The Sacramento King's Vivek Ranadive. Worst owner in the NBA. What's the constant with lower ranked ownership? Losing teams. Hiring the right people and letting them do their jobs is what generally leads to winning teams. This is true in all sports, not just basketball. So we'll talk a little about that and then it's a big crowd question today. I'm going to get to answer a lot of the questions that have been coming in. Yours may be one of them. And you're going to love the rant since it comes from a listener today. All this and more in today's show.

Grant's Rant: 12-18-20 Zion Williamson 19th on ESPN ranking? Not my rant today. Dec 18, 2020

Show notes

OK, so if you're following me on Twitter, you know I was looking to hear from you on what you think would make a good rant. Well, welcome Nando Diaz since his response was spot on and Nando is now my first fan guest rant ever. I agree it's a good rant. Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans 19th on the ESPN list? C'mon. He's not even played a full year. You'll love hearing Nando's story, my interpretation of how this rant should go (It's on my video rant today) and a little more talk about some of Nando's teams. We're going to engage you all a little bit more like this on occasion so be sure you're following me on Twitter. I think you're going to enjoy it.

Grant's Rant 12-17-20: Giannis Supermax Contract...of course he signed! Dec 17, 2020

Show notes

OK, so everyone is all about Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek Freak. Why? We're talking $228 million dollars over 5 years with an additional $50M kicker in the fifth year for his salary, that's why. Good for Milwaukee. Good for smaller markets to see. Great for Giannis but who on earth would not have taken that deal? So let's just say the average family earns $50K annually. Wait, it's easier to explain this than for me to type it all out so listen to today's rant and you'll see where I'm going with it all. Then you'll completely understand why there was no other option but to stay in Milwaukee. Just wait until the fans see the Milwaukee Bucks ticket prices next year.
