Grant's Rant: 2-4-21 NBA All Star Game in spite of 24 games already cancelled? Why? Feb 04, 2021

Show notes

Picture this... Atlanta in March. Nice weather, sunshine and a great time for basketball. NBA All Stars coming to town with trainers and coaches and support folk. A stadium filled with the league's best athletes. And a pandemic. Then, during or on the way home they find out somebody or more than one of the players test positive. There goes the season. 24 games have already been cancelled. Why risk something that seems to be working right now? Why put the remainder of the season in jeopardy by bringing, literally, the entire league together in one place in March? Is it worth it? I'll give you my opinion in today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 2-3-21 CDC guidelines for Superbowl parties are ridiculous. Can't make this stuff up. Feb 03, 2021

Show notes

So this is a rant you just have to listen to for it's utter absurdity. The Center for Disease Control has posted guidelines for those of you intending to attend a Superbowl party. How about no cheering, chanting or drinking alcohol for beginners? Are you freakin' kidding me? This is a joke. And there's a lot more I'll go off on when you listen in. You're not going to believe how stupid this whole thing is. And be sure to check me out on "Nofilter.net" at 3p PT tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun.

Episode 35: Author & sportswriter Ian Thomsen talks basketball and how several players are responsible for the game we see today. Feb 02, 2021

Show notes

Ian Thomsen joins me today for a discussion on his career as a sports writer for such great publications as The Boston Globe, The National Sports Daily, the International Herald Tribune, Sports Illustrated, and NBA.com. He is also author of The Soul of Basketball: The Epic Showdown between LeBron, Kobe, Doc, and Dirk That Saved the NBA. We're talking about many of the players that are responsible for the NBA we see today, stories of his coverage as a reporter and what he had the privilege of seeing and doing over the past three decades. I think he portrays the NBA today and into the future with a view from experience that you are going to appreciate. Join us for the conversation today and I hope you enjoy this most interesting perspective on how several players alone have shaped the sport as we know it today.

Grant's Rant: 2-2-21 What's wrong with Patrick Reed's lying balls? Feb 02, 2021

Show notes

PGA golfer Patrick Reed gets approval for a decision he makes at Torrey Pines during tournament play. Lighten up already, the officials made the same decision for Rory Mcllroy. It's fine. It looks like he may have made a mistake with his ball placement but it was ruled legal so give him a break. He won by 5 strokes. Hear my opinion of it all on today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 2-1-21 Mr. Bagley, please stop. The Sacramento Kings need more wins, not more Marvin. Feb 01, 2021

Show notes

Here we go again. Marvin Bagley's father just can't control himself. He's insulting his son, the team and the coaching staff when the reality is, Marvin needs to learn defense. And he will. In time. But let's end this embarrassment of parenting thru social media insult. Enough is enough. Mr. Bagley seems to have forgotten it's not about Marvin playing time but team wins that count in the long run and right now, one does not equal the other. Of course I have more to say in today's rant.

Show notes

How on earth can management and ownership be so screwed up that they have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL wanting to leave the franchise. Are you freakin' kidding me? What's wrong with those people? Worse yet, what if they do lose him? You think they're going to find another quarterback like that? I can answer that question now but if you listen to the rant, you'll hear it right from my lips to your ears.
