Grant's Rant: 3-31-21 Mr. Bagley's favorite "dumb ass" named Western Conference Player of the Week. Mar 31, 2021

Show notes

Haven't heard much from the Bagley family of late have we? Actually, since Marvin broke his hand, Kings have won 7 out of 8 and the last 5 in a row. Now that may mean something. Especially since they've played some defense. And it's working. Without Marvin. Hmmm. And this week D'Aaron Fox gets Western Conference Player of the Week. He must be passing the ball pretty well to earn that recognition. Don't you think so, Mr. Bagley? Oh yeah, I have a little more to say about that in today's rant.

Episode 51: San Francisco 49ers make some interesting trade moves. Mar 30, 2021

Show notes

So the San Francisco Forty Niners wrangle their way to a number three draft pick and we know that's going to be a quarterback, right? Then what? Does Jimmy Garappolo somewhere else? Kyle Shanahan is on the hot seat with regard to his decision... that he hasn't even made yet! This is a no win situation for whomever it is they decide since it's never going to be perfect. But, c'mon, give it a rest and let the team do their thing and then see where it goes. Let's talk about quarterbacks for a minute too. And then a few other teams, like the Miami Dophins and what their prospects look like too. I suggest we're going to see a lot of movement of quarterbacks come next season. Where? Cant say, don't know but a lot is going to be going on. I'm also going to make a few comments on this whole sports betting situation as well. Is this really a good thing overrall? Hmmm. Think about it.

Grant's Rant: 3-30-21 I can't help it. This Deshaun Watson story is getting bigger. Mar 30, 2021

Show notes

Here we go. You've heard me address this a couple of times in the past few weeks. You know I also believe innocent until proven guilty but what's beginning to materialize isn't looking good and it's getting a lot of attention. If what is coming out is true, Deshaun Watson needs to worry about himself and get some help. The NfL is going to have to make some tough decisions too. Let's talk just a little bit more about it 'so we can draw our own conclusions based on what we hear from the victims and the accused. Then we can expect much improved results. I hope nothing really happened, otherwise, we're not going to be seeing much of Deshaun.

Grant's Rant: 3-29-21 Competitive Balance in the NBA? You're kidding me, right? Mar 29, 2021

Show notes

Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers when he want's out of New Orleans, LaMarcus Aldridge wants out of the San Antonio Spurs, he ends up in with the Brooklyn Nets, just like James Harden wanted out of Houston and ended up in the same place.
Andre Drummond wants out of the Cleveland Cavaliers, off to the Lakers. The rich are getting richer and the smaller market teams don't have a chance in hell with the money stacked against them like this. I have some suggestions in today's rant. I think you'll agree, this system is not sustainable.

Grant's Rant: 3-26-21 Marvin Bagley's father is a man of faith. Mar 26, 2021

Show notes

We now know Marvins Bagley's father is a man of faith. That's right. He had prayers going out on his twitter feed of hands praying. Unfortunately, they weren't prayers that were answered for him as Marvin is still a Sacramento King. Now, on the flipside of that Mr. Bagley, we've got nothing against your son and I think he's going to grow up to be in the league playing for years to come. You, however, sir also need to grow up and those same praying hand emojis are exactly what Sacramento Kings fans were sharing in the hopes that you would be traded to another team and leave this alone. Take your immaturity and ignorance and lack of comprehension of the game somewhere else and you'll see those hands go from prayer emojis to clapping hand emojis immediately. Please go away and quit embarrassing Marvin.

Episode 50: NBA Trade Deadline winners and losers Mar 25, 2021

Show notes

So let's talk trade today. Eventful or uneventful is going to be the perspective of the team you favor. For some teams, it was just another day, like the Sacramento Kings. Lots of rumors were swirling around Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield to be certain. Nothing though. They're both still gainfully employed in Sacramento. Or strategies like lose everybody to start fresh with a new draft, or make a run this year for the playoffs. A little something for everybody for sure and I'm talking about it all.

Grant's rant: 3-25-21 Kyrie Irving takes a few days off...again. Mar 25, 2021

Show notes

First, I want to be sure to say that if there are significant family reasons for missing the games your team so desperately needs you to play, then do what you must. But, if what we're seeing is the personal implosion of a great player, then I don't get it. I never wanted to miss a game, or a day of work. I would never let my team or myself down. This is what I was born to do and I love doing it. It must not be the same for Kyrie. He just seems to find the "personal" reasons a good excuse to not show up to do what he gets paid to do. To do what fans pay to see him do or to do what his teammates rely on him to do. I just don't get it. I'll share my many reasons. in today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 3-24-21 Deshaun Watson accusers are piling on and no penalty flags...yet. Mar 24, 2021

Show notes

I know. I talked about this last week but the story is getting bigger. Is there some sort of conspiracy? Is there truth to the matter? What if there is something behind the accusations? There sure seem to be enough of them at this point. What if it's nothing? Then what's the point? Who stands to win here? This one is getting interesting and the facts are what we're all going to want to see. Again, let's not forget though, innocent until proven guilty. No matter how bad it looks.

Episode 49: Greg Lukenbill and his history with the Sacramento Kings. Mar 23, 2021

Show notes

This is a little slice of history today that takes us back to the genesis of the Sacramento Kings. Without the gentleman I'm interviewing, there never would have been a team in town. There would be no arena and there would never have been the oh so close, Sacramento Raiders. That's right. To hear how that almost came to be and how the Kings made it here, join me in the conversation with Greg Lukenbill. A 28 year old real estate developer that made it all happen. You'll also get his perspective on the possibility of soccer becoming even greater than the success of the Kings. Bring it on, MLS!

Grant's Rant: 3-23-21 The Sacramento Kings prepare for next year with trade deadline Thursday. Mar 23, 2021

Show notes

Don't even think about it. Not gonna happen and I'm sure this won't be the last time I talk about. Kings aren't going to the playoffs this year. No, they should not make a trade to help them get there either. With their track record, that won't work either. With only 30 games left, this season is over and, once again, it's time to look forward to next year. For what it's worth, Kings fans have the most experience at this looking ahead to next year so consider this one more year of practice. That and more on today's rant.
