Grant's Rant: 9-21-22 NBA's Double Standards Sep 21, 2022

Show notes

Yesterday the NBA fined Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves 40k for anti-gay comments. Last spring, the NBA suspended Meyers Leonard, then of the Heat for a week after he made an anti-Semitic slur. Meyers was quickly traded to the Thunder and then was cut. He is out of the league. This summer Draymond Green of the Warriors called former player and current ESPN host Kendrick Perkins a racial slur. What did the NBA do to Green? Nothing! What a joke! The NBA has become a league of double standards!

Grant's Rant: 9-20-22 Same Vikings Sep 20, 2022

Show notes

Last night the Minnesota Vikings had a chance to make an early statement in this NFL season and they failed miserably. They were beaten soundly by the Eagles. Vikings QB Kirk Cousins was not good, the Vikes D was bad and the result was a 24-7 win by the impressive Eagles and Jalen Hurts!

Episode 198: "Silence is Compliance' Sep 20, 2022

Show notes

Mitch Albom of the Detroit Free Press wrote this in 2020 after DeSean Jackson's antisemitic comments. "Silence is compliance. That's a popular sentence today. But you can't be selective with your noise, not against hate. In today's episode I talk about some very disturbing incidents that have occurred in our sports world recently. I discuss the alleged racial slurs directed at a Duke volleyball player in a match vs BYU, which were found to be untrue. I then discuss the ugly video of last week's Oregon-BYU game of fans chanting F the Mormons. I talk about a story written in Andscape about the suspension of Suns owner Robert Sarver and give examples of the double standards and hypocrisy in our sports leagues. In a nutshell I don't see this country moving forward...I see it regressing!

Grant's Rant: 9-19-22 Here Come The 49ers Sep 19, 2022

Show notes

Seven days ago, on Grant's Rant i said that there was no way Trey Lance would remain healthy. Unfortunately, that came true yesterday when he broke his ankle against the Seahawks. Lance will have surgery today and be lost for the season. I say unfortunately, because you hate see players getting hurt, but the 49ers are now a better team. Jimmy Garoppolo is better suited for now to lead this team. Period! Lance may be a good NFL QB in the future, but the 49ers just became a super Bowl contender for this season!

Grant's Rant: 9-16-22 Carr or Murray? Sep 16, 2022

Show notes

On Sunday the Raiders host the Cardinals. Two teams that lost week one and two teams that need better performances from their QB's. Both fan bases are begging for consistency from their high paid signal callers, but it continues to be an up and down cycle.

Episode 197: Sean Salisbury Sep 16, 2022

Show notes

It is always great when I can talk football with Sean Salisbury. We begin by discussing Broncos Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett's bizarre decision at the end of the Seahawks game Monday night. Sean and I discuss Trey Lance of the 49ers along with the hot topics around the NFL. Sean played QB with the USC Trojans and we discuss what memories he had playing games vs Notre Dame. Both of us love talking about great sports rivalries.
