    Topics: iBUG announcements; when pairing iPhone with Bluetooth speaker, VoiceOver come through iPhone only; entering user name and password on iBUGtoday.org website; recommendation for upgrading to new iPhone – if possible wait until Sept, when Apple release new iPhones, iPhone SE2 is $400.0, has home button, internals of iPhone 11; if plaaning to keep iPhone for a long time, then better to get the latest to maximize life of iPhone; iPhone v. iPad, more real estate to navigate; bug when activating Siri, she says I’m on it, and then says Siri is unavailable; cleaning speaker of iPhone; how to select a link, go to share, and if sharing a Zoom link, go to participants and send an invitation; using dictation in Book Share, restart iPhone, or unload the app and reload; moving through videos on FaceBook or YouTube; flick up or down in track position slider; double tap, hold, and slide to move through video; adding items in Instant Cart; gestures on iPad do not work in landscape mode; new bug in Braille input; demo of how to find a specific emoji; type a word, see if emoji replacements are available, if predictive text is on; second method, dictate message, go to emoji keyboard, go to rotor, choose emoji in rotor, swipe up and down to see available emojis; how to activate predictive text in settings; go to VoiceOver settings to activate emoji suffix.

    Topics: iBUG announcements; Yelp no longer accessible, search for Glutin-free or vegan with Yellow Pages app, Uber Eats, or DoorDash; ABC 13 app; using Stream app for Comcast customers to watch TV on iPhone; upgrading to iPhone 10, what to expect, no home button, gestures for swiping up; Stream app work only if have a basic cable package; when using face ID, and you have your mask on, it will automatically ask for pass code; when using Seeing AI seems to work better on iPhone 10 or 11; using Crowd Compass app to access NFB convention and view agenda; when viewing photos, VoiceOver sometimes describes the photo; using Disney Plus with audio description; name your iPhone so it will appear that way when you log into Zoom; change your name in Zoom; saving a link to Youtube app, if you do not have an account, can share it, send yourself a link via e-mail or text; difference between bookmarks and favorites; streaming NFB Convention on NFB Newsline; creating a new mailbox in Mail app; ACB Link app to listen to podcasts from ACB convention; entering webinar for the first time, must enter name and e-mail; meeting id is the link for logging into NFB with Zoom; demo of responding to a phone call with a text message, go to settings, phone, respond with text, gives you three choices, can edit and personalize; to avoid listening to a voice mail greeting, hit the pound key to record your message.

    Topics: iBUG announcements; new callers – Michael from PA, Jan from OH, Megan from MI; how to delete calls from Apple Watch, after deleting them from the iPhone; Apple Watch 3, is it water proof?, it is water resistant; turn on water lock mode, takes time for water to come out; recommendation for bone conduction headphones; T-Mobile app is crashing; Siri and haptic feedback has disappeared – change the Siri voice, or power off the iPhone, turn off Siri and back on; podcast on Apple Vis about accessibility at Apple; how to rename your iPhone, settings, general, about, name, enter the edit field and change the name; iPhone not ringing, and calls going to voice mail; Lyft app not reading search results; unable to open an e-mail that was moved to a different folder, error message, that the message was not downloaded; Air Pod Pro spacial feature in update to firmware; fetching e-mails at intervals; iPhone’s thirteenth birthday!; recording the greeting in Voice mail, how to avoid hearing VoiceOver in the outgoing greeting; record the greeting with headphones, and tap very lightly when done recording; delete option in voice mail disappears; to improve quality of the recording, place a blanket over you\ur head, creates a virtual sound booth; choosing dongles, plug in 3.5 headphones; Bluetooth headphones versus wired headphones, less lag, better audio quality; using the Find My app to find Air Pods Pro; use Hey Siri to find your iPhone; have to activate Hey Siri feature; using Siri to activate do not disturb; in Facebook, show people who are active, what happens when you “say hi?”; using Market Place on Facebook; if using video on the Zoom app, security issues when nefarious characters can take pictures and learn personal information about you, better to use a background, or blur feature.

    Topics: iBUG Buzz announcements; World-wide Developers Conference WWDC; new in iOS14, widgets, categorize apps, Siri updates, separate app for translating; ability to answer more sophisticated questions; updated Memoji; updated Apple maps for cyclists and electric vehicles; virtual keys on iPhone; more accurate maps equally as good as Google maps; Apple clips, portions of an app are downloaded to the iPhone; update to Message, pin a message and threading, start audio messages with Siri; more processing on the iPhone itself, which makes it more secure; can search emojis; notification of phone call is less intrusive; Picture in picture; iPad OS – widgits coming, new side bar for navigation on iPad; redesigning search feature on iPad; handwriting feature called the Scrible feature; Airpods can seamlessly switch between devices; special audio feature with Airpods; Apple Watch, 20-second timer for hand washing; sharablable watch faces; improved sleep tracking; Apple watch can use gyroscope to keep track of dancing; Facial recognition within Home Kit; TV OS will have picture-in[picture; getting audio descrption of WWDC; iPhone is not labeled in Zoom; may need to rename your iPhone on the iPhone itself; navigating with Bluetooth keyboard; delay in receiving messages in the Messenger app; not receiving notification of text message; not receiving notification of voice mail; MacHash, Apple news aggregator; use third-part browsers in iOS 14; allow third-parties to use the Find My feature; the back tap, gestures on the back of the iPhone to execute commands; dots drifting when using Braille input; to clean screen, use alcohol or Clorax wipes with no bleach; dictation in Pag, be sure to have good Wifi signal and use headphones; do not use anything moist near the openings; the messages app shut down when hit send, message was never sent; using Siri to turn of the Zoom feature; clicking on buttons in Facebook but nothing happens; search Facebook for a post; different filters; three-finger swipe; turn off VoiceOver, and do a single finger swipe. Another way to organize posts is to put them in albums.

    Topics: How to access TV app in Austin; restricted mode in Youtube app; touch id disappears periodically, need to reenter the fingerprint, sometimes the thumbs is more accurate; adding descriptive text on a photograph in FaceBook; post the photo first, go into post, double tap on post, double tap on photo, pop up menu, choose update alt-text, only accessible by a screen reader; you can edit your post from newsfeed or from your profile; you can use Seeing AI to identify people in a photo; how to label a photo in photo stream; push notification for e-mail; check notification settings for e-mail; to label a photo, two-finger double tap; the label function will only be on your iPhone; issue with viewing results on Lyft app; sometime turn off speech or turn off VoiceOver will help, also try unloading the app and reinstalling app; emergency SOS under setting to turn off alarm or countdown sound; writing a post to wish happy birthday on FaceBook; sometimes when posting birthday wishes in FaceBook it kicks you out to your own timeline; Indeed app, a job application app where checkmarks are not labeled; sometimes group of check boxes and questions follow; repeated friend request in Facebook maybe be a hack; thumbs up in Amazon app after delivery; saving a link to home screen, select link, copy into Safari address field, it will ask if you want to open in Zoom, say no, then choose share button, to save to home screen; save the iBUG Zoom link as a contact; can also select a linkwith a three finger quadruple tap, may have to edit; screen sharing on Zoom on Iphone, very limited; sending audio message from the messages app; go in to message edit field, swipe to right, choose audio message, single finger tap and hold while speaking, then can send, play or delete; audio message can only be sent to other iDevices; use voice memos to send messages to Android users; to use raise to listen, turn of the speaker; activating speaker on Zoom; how to listen to ring tones on headphones, not on speaker.

    Topics: iBUG announcements; how to lock a note within the Notes app; One Drive app for backing up files; Google Drive, another cloud storage app, 15 GB free; if you have Office 365, you get one Terabyte free on OneDrive; to set a password in Notes, go to settings, then Notes, swipe to choose a default password; how to edit a Word document received in an e-mail; the share sheet will show you the apps that you can use to download the file; if you have Office 365, then you can use Word to edit the file, or you can use the Pages app; how to share a link to the iBUG Zoom meeting; at the end of participants list, at the end is an invite button, can send a contact an invitation; listening to voice mail, causes the iPhone to lock up; voice mail may be switching to the headphones, and no longer on the speaker; there is a setting to have voice mail play on speaker automatically; if the iPhone locks up, can try the home button, engaging Siri, or turn off VoiceOver; to turn off visual voice mail, ask the carrier; Personal Power by Michael Feir, good resource on Apple Vis; Chime app allows you to set when you are alerted – on the hour, half hour, quarter hour, or before the hour; allows you to set the time you receive alerts; chevron is actually the greater than and less than symbols; possible text means VoiceOver is taking a guess as to the text; labeling elements with two-finger double tap and hold; Bard app is no longer prompting for password; Google Chrome app, unable to do a voice search, need to unmute the microphone; recommendation for a good dictionary app, Merriam Webster app; recommendation for a translation app, other than Say Hi, Google Translate is accessible, Microsoft Translate app; the Dot Watch paired with iPhone, Braille display with four cells; triple click crown on Apple Watch to turn off Voiceover; possible to adjust volume on the Apple Watch itself; activating haptic feedback on Apple Watch; when listening to something on iPhone, the Apple Watch only shows the “Now playing” screen
