13. A Christmas Hymn For Our Weary World Dec 13, 2020

Show notes

This week's Christmas hymn originated in France by a well-known composer of opera and ballet. It is one of the hardest songs to sing with an octave and a half range, lots of sustained notes, and complicated diphthongs. It's been recorded by some of the best singers of our time, including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Idina Menzel.

We are especially excited to share the music of singer/guitarist Chris Moller who will be singing O Holy Night at the end of the episode. You can find more of his music on his Youtube channel: Chris Moller

We are also thrilled to be sharing the music of singer/violinist/pianist Chris Stephens. What a blessing to hear his violin this week! You can follow Chris on Twitter: @chrisstephens1

Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

May you be blessed as you listen to this very special episode. Merry Christmas!

Next week, we're having our last Christmas episode based on YOUR votes. If you haven't voted yet, please do so! Head on over to Facebook or Twitter, to let us know which hymn we should do next.

12. Christmas Hymn: Hum First, Then Sing. Dec 06, 2020

Show notes

We are sharing our first Christmas Carol with you this week! This little hymn is from a music book called Dainty Songs for Lads and Lasses by JR Murray in 1887.

This dainty song is also known as Cradle Hymn. It's a peaceful song that brings us right to that miraculous night in Bethlehem when the little Lord Jesus was born and our world was forever changed.

This episode is filled with singing! Worship right along with us.

May you find the peace and joy that only Jesus can provide this Christmas season.

11. Advent Hymn: I Will Be Present Tomorrow! Nov 29, 2020

Show notes

This week starts Advent! As we prepare for the arrival of our Lord and Savior, let's sing some beautiful hymns. This week, we're discussing a hymn that was sung hundreds of years ago. We love learning about hymns that have really stood the test of time. It's no wonder why this one has been around for so long when you examine the lyrics. They proclaim the truth as to who God is and what He promises us!

In this hymn, we call Jesus by many names: Emmanuel, Son of God, Lord of Might, Key of David, Branch of Jesse's Stem... we could keep going.

He is the King of Nations and the King of Peace and He gives us HOPE. May God bless you as you listen to this episode and as you begin the Advent season.

10. A Hymn of Thanks and Praise for Thanksgiving Nov 22, 2020

Show notes

We would like to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful that we have this podcast that we can share with all of you. Thank you for listening, thank you for supporting us!

This week, we will dig deep into our oldest hymn yet. The German words date back to 1636. The words were written during a time in the writer's life that was tremendously challenging and painful, personally and globally. The hymn writer knew that God was with him the whole time and for that, he wanted to express his thanks.

Kellie has some fun Thanksgiving trivia to share with all of you! Do you happen to know the Thanksgiving song that is called The New England Boy's Song About Thanksgiving Day? Listen and find out more!
