    Nebraska came so close to the kind of marquee win that nearly gets team’s name written in ink for March Madness, but instead the season continues on with plenty more work to do.

    Husker247 breaks down the Illinois game, what went right for the Huskers, how they hung in there and the big takeaways from the contest, plus Nebraska heads on the road again to the Land of Lincoln, but this time to face Northwestern.

    Mike Schaefer is joined by Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson and the trio start things off by discussing a few stories from the time when there was just one National Signing Day and some stories about the weird things that would pop up just before or during the actual day.

    Then it’s time to discuss what the Huskers have going on with National Signing Day, who is making decisions, what any potential additions might mean and what Husker247 expects for the day.

    The Husker247 HoopsCast couldn’t wait until next Tuesday so Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer gathered for an emergency episode to discuss the Huskers improbable and impressive comeback win over No. 6 Wisconsin at Pinnacle Bank Arena last night.

    The two dive right into the environment and the game on Thursday night as BC sets the scene with the Huskers early struggles, CJ Wilcher and Rienk Mast’s huge efforts and Brice Williams clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch.

    The two relive the game and then set the stage for what’s next for Nebraska and why Keisei Tominaga will bounce back sooner than later.


    Husker247 Pod: Assessing the 2024 roster Jan 31, 2024

    The Husker247 Podcast convened at full-strength on Wednesday to discuss Nebraska’s current 2024 roster, where the team is better, where it might be worse and recruiting.

    Things start with Michael Bruntz, Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer discussing the changes in the roster, how the Huskers are going to attempt to utilize the spring, which positions might see change and notable movement with different players.

    Then Schaefer asks a question of the group — what position group looks better now than it did during 2023 and which one still concerns you?

    After those answers things turn to recruiting where Bruntz and Schaefer walk through the recent unofficial visits and why Matt Rhule’s locations are so important the last week of January.

    The Husker247 HoopsCast returned to talk about yet another 1-and-1 week for the Huskers, who can’t seem to solve what ails it on the road, which only enhances the pressure at home.

    Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer discussed what went wrong in Maryland, why the Huskers are so bad on the road and the pressure that exists for Thursday’s contest at home against Wisconsin.

    BC gives updates on what he knows about Juwan Gary (prior to the Wednesday presser) and where things might be with Blaise Keita.

    Then the show finishes with the deepest cut of the Guess a Random Husker Hooper game yet.


    Husker247 HoopsCast: Looking to take two Jan 23, 2024

    Another split week for the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball program as the Huskers weren’t able to steal one in New Jersey, but closed things out at home at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday.

    Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer got together to discuss the week that was, how the Huskers picked themselves up again and what’s ahead with a home game against Ohio State and another trip out east to Maryland on Saturday.

    The two also discussed Nebraska’s good news with Juwuan Gary’s injury and how Rienk Mast can get back on track.

    Things wrap up with a little game of guess that Random Husker Hooper and then some unscheduled discussion about sleeping late on a Saturday.


    Husker247 Podcast: Coaching additions and early enrollees arrive Jan 17, 2024

    In this week's episode of the Husker247 Podcast, Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson break down the expected hire of Glenn Thomas as the Huskers' new quarterback coach. There is plenty of familiarity between Matt Rhule and Thomas, and the hire will be an important one as the Huskers welcome two coveted quarterbacks into the fold in January.

    Later, the guys discuss the arrival of Nebraska's early enrollees and which players will have eyes on them this spring. Brian also runs through anecdotes and news and notes from his conversations with early enrollees over the past few weeks.

    Finally, the episode ends with a discussion of Dylan Raiola, who headlines a group of talented recruits participating in this week's Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii.

    Husker247 HoopsCast: Can Nebraska solve its road woes? Jan 16, 2024

    It was another split week for Nebraska basketball, though the highs were super high and the lows were super low, so who better to wade through it than Husker247.

    First the discussion of what happened at Iowa and how the Huskers are going to have to find some wins on the road, possibly starting on Wednesday against Rutgers.

    From there things returned with a conversation about Nebraska’s upcoming home game against Northwestern, the return of Danny Nee, who nearly turned Nebraska into a basketball school and the upcoming alumni weekend.

    Finally there’s guess that random Husker Hooper and Brian Christopherson has to see if he can figure out which former Nebraska player Mike Schaefer is talking about.


    Husker247 HoopsCast: Nebraska knocks off No. 1 Purdue Jan 10, 2024

    It was indeed a great night to have a great night for Nebraska basketball.

    The Husker247 crew walks through a wild night at Pinnacle Bank arena that saw an outstanding performance from the Nebraska Cornhuskers in an 88-72 victory over the No. 1 ranked Purdue Boilermakers.

    Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer take you through the action, including a gutty near triple-double effort from Brice Williams, clutch shots from CJ Wilcher and Keisei Tominaga, more defense to offense from Sam Hoiberg and at the center of it all a fast start from Rienk Mast in his biggest test yet.

    Now that Nebraska has a win over a top ranked team, what’s next on the schedule for the Huskers and how do they respond after putting their program on the map as a team everyone else in the conference needs to be aware of moving forward?
