    Sunday Side Session: Near perfect start for Nebraska against UTEP Sep 01, 2024
    Show notes

    The Sunday Side Session returns for its third season as Mike Schaefer is joined by veteran Fox broadcaster Kevin Kugler to break down Nebraska’s season-opening 40-7 win over UTEP.

    The two discuss the expected but rare straight forward, dominating way the Huskers took care of a lesser team in UTEP and how Nebraska was able to flood-the-bench late in the game.

    From there the conversation shifted to Dylan Raiola and the veteran offense Matt Rhule and company put around the quarterback.

    When the conversation moved sides of the ball the two discussed how Tony White’s defense responded to the only real adversity of the game and the overall depth of the front seven, as well as a few defenders who played well on Saturday.

    Finally there was plenty of discussion about Nebraska-Colorado and Kugler gave thoughts on why Rhule always seemed like a college coach in the NFL when their paths crossed initially and why he could be the right fit in Lincoln for a long time.

    From there Mike Schaefer and BC had a more in-depth conversation about what’s happening on defense and who some of the players emerging at cornerback and linebacker might end up being this year.

    The Husker247 Podcast convened on Wednesday to roll through the fall camp opening media day the Nebraska Cornhuskers put together.

    Michael Bruntz, Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer all discussed various things from the coaches and the players as the Huskers prepare to begin the 2024 season.

    Among the topics hit on included Tristan Alvano being off the opening 120-man roster as he deals with injury, Nebraska’s tight end usage, how Tony White plans to keep Nebraska wanting more and several other topics with the coaches.

    From there the trio discussed what the players had to say ahead of the season, how Dylan Raiola has worked and other various nuggets.

    The Husker247 Podcast went on the road — at least two of its members did as the trio recorded a show focused on what they heard listening to several Nebraska representatives at Big Ten Media Days.

    The football season has inched closer now as we’ve reached late July and that means its Big Ten Media Days week so the Husker247 trio got together to discuss the upcoming season.

    Who is representing the Huskers in Indianapolis? What are we expecting in terms of national buzz about Nebraska? Will Brian Christopherson go to Elmo’s and get the shrimp cocktail?

    Those questions were answered on the podcast and much more was discussed like what we anticipate Isaac Gifford, Ty Robinson and Ben Scott will have to say and the most interesting topics Matt Rhule will have to delve into on Wednesday, like what life will be like after losing Evan Cooper, but gaining John Butler as his new defensive backs coach.

    After a break things return with recruiting talk as the Kade Pietrzak commitment is discussed and why Nebraska fans should continue to feel good about what the Huskers are doing in the trenches.
