The Broken Promises of MLMs #254 Sep 16, 2020
    Show notes

Let’s talk about MLMs. We’ve all heard about multi-level marketing companies but are they all scams? Some of them are legit right? MLM ‘opportunities’ are on the rise and we’re seeing more and more products that are pitched by friends and in particular by folks we know on social media. Americans are more susceptible than ever these days and we might be more likely to get tangled up in a pyramid scheme due to financial insecurity brought on by covid. So in this episode we cover what an MLM is and how it’s different from a pyramid scheme, a brief history of some MLM companies, and then some different avenues to take instead of joining up with a multi-level marketing company.

During this episode we enjoyed a Double Up by Monday Night Brewing! On average, housing costs easily account for a third of our monthly expenses. That’s why it’s so important for us to cover how we can cut housing costs to zero, and even make some money while we’re at it! Here to tell us how she did it is Zeona McIntyre. Zeona went from earning minimum wage to becoming financially free in two years with real estate- specifically with Airbnb. Zeona now owns 7 properties and manages 20, all over the world. She also consults by working with her clients and helping them achieve their short-term rental goals: from finding an ideal rental property to purchase, tips on furnishing, all the way through to management. Zeona is using real estate to design the kind of life she wants to live, and hopefully after this interview you’ll be inspired to do the same.

Designing SMARTER Money Goals #248 Sep 02, 2020
    Show notes

We could share the best money tips out there with you every single episode, but it would never really matter if you haven’t identified proper money goals for your life. What good is it to know the best ways to earn more, spend less, and invest your money if you don’t even know why it is that you’re doing those things? And unfortunately if you haven’t identified your money goals and the ‘why’ behind your money, then it’s easy for money itself to become the end goal. Gaining more wealth can become the default metric that you think will make you happy, but in reality that happiness is fleeting. So this episode is all about discovering our passions, figuring out what we want to spend our money on, and thinking through how we want to spend our days. And then we talk through the SMARTER approach to goal setting to ensure that we are taking the steps to get us where we want to be.

During this episode we enjoyed an Alpha Abstraction IPA Vol 13 by Wild Leap!
