    051: Topic Feb 22, 2023
    Show notes

Topic is a hit-making producer, DJ and remixer who burst on to the scene in 2014 with his smash hit single 'Light It Up.' His self-styled brand of "melancholic dance music" has achieved over a billion worldwide streams, boosted by original anthems such as 'Breaking Me' and contemporary updates of familiar classics such as ATB's '9pm (Till I Come)' and Paul van Dyk's 'For An Angel.' Topic joined us live and direct from his studio in Dubai and from there he told us about his transition from behind-the-scenes producer to superstar DJ, how strange it was having a global hit single during the pandemic and why he loves the dance music community so much.

    050: Judge Jules Jan 25, 2023
    Show notes

Judge Jules is a DJ superhero. Playing to huge crowds, running his own events (some legal and some not so much), hosting radio shows, signing and releasing anthems - all whilst managing to hold down a successful career in law. Many might know him from his days on Radio 1 where he hosted a must-listen to show for well over a decade, or you might have even seen him play at an event like his own Judgement Sundays in Ibiza and some of us have been lucky enough to catch him during those peak late 90s years at his iconic residency at Sheffield's Gatecrasher superclub. We discuss all of this in the interview, where we also get the lowdown on how he actually manages his day job and how this informs his own nocturnal activities.

    046: Darren Jay Sep 27, 2022
    Show notes

Darren Jay is a legend from the rave scene and a pioneer of the Jungle sound that took the UK (and the world) by storm in the 90s - something that has not let up to this day. Having always had an obsession for percussion and a vast multi-genre record collection, it was inevitable that a young Darren would gravitate towards the burgeoning rave scene in the late 80s. After tasting success playing early House out of Chicago, Darren was at the forefront of the Junglist revolution in the UK that would eventually morph into the Drum & Bass sounds that we all know and love today. In this chat we discover how he made that journey, what it was like in the inner sanctum of the scene's hangouts such as Black Market Records, why the iconic AWOL events had such a strong reputation amongst the D&B community and how he is introducing these breakbeat sounds to the already diverse selection of genres on his now native Ibiza.

In this chat we cover all of the highlights of his career so far and what we can expect to hear from him in the very near future.
