    hot pursuit by AsianBossGirl

welcome to hot pursuit; a podcast about creating conversations where nothing is off limits hosted by three best friends Jen, Em, and Madelyn.

this podcast is produced by AsianBossGirl.

ever since the beloved ABG hosts Melody, Helen, and Janet took their hiatus, we decided there was a space to fill where individuals could continue vulnerable conversations about life, love, and friendship. we value digging deep, being unhinged, and stepping out courageously in topics of conversation that may be more taboo than your typical lunch conversation. join us as we continue the AsianBossGirl legacy with a podcast of our own. we desire to model friendship and vulnerability to our listeners while challenging ourselves to grow in self confidence, friendship, and authenticity.

buckle up! it’s gonna be a wild ride.

Episode 217: Loud Chewing, Interrupted Showers, and Stupid Fights with Our SOs Apr 28, 2023
    Show notes

We’ve reflected on the ups and downs of relationships before, but today we’re specifically going to focus on those small, stupid conflicts that are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and yet so infuriating in the moment. Whether it’s adjusting to each others’ daily living habits or going through life transitions together, there’s always going to be some things your partner does that annoys you. However, in the end it’s all about how you communicate and compromise to resolve these little frustrations.

These stories have all been “okayed” by our partners, so listen in as Mel shares her sacred morning routine, Janet talks about adjusting to life as a dog mom, and Helen reveals how she once… “ass-chucked” her husband??

Episode 216: Our Work Besties and Janet’s Work Daddy Apr 21, 2023
    Show notes

Most of us will spend an average of 81,396 hours at work, according to Harvard Business Review. Naturally, you might develop close relationships with the people you’re spending all that time with. Whether it’s bonding over shared interests or just sending each other funny memes to get through the day, it can be very valuable to invest time in your coworkers. Workplace relationships could develop into lifelong friendships, important mentorships, or even blossom into an office romance…

On today’s episode, we share stories of our work wives and work besties from our corporate days. Do we still keep in touch? Was there ever any romance potential? And how would we feel if any of our partners had a work wife?

Tag your work bestie in the comments!

    Show notes

We’re killing the environment, we’re not recycling enough, stop driving your cars, why aren’t you composting?! The world is ending! It seems like every news article, publication, title, and post nowadays is about how the world is getting worse. Yes, humanity is at a pretty critical point in history - things have been, and continue to be, dire. But we don’t hear enough about the improvements, the powerful initiatives, and the amazing milestones to give us hope to continue putting effort toward turning around what can feel like an enormous train speeding toward a cliff’s edge.

So in honor of Earth month I want to celebrate all the strides we have made so that we can be motivated to continue making them. Here are some GOOD pieces of news about significant improvements we’ve made in the world over the last few years.

If you enjoyed this episode, please leave an earth emoji in the comments of our IG post! And if you feel so inspired, share with me what small actions you’ll be taking to help the planet.

Episode 213: Ivory Aquino on Having the Power to Rewrite Her Childhood (Celebrating Trans Day of Visibility) Mar 31, 2023
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we are so honored to have Filipina actress Ivory Aquino grace us with her vibrant energy and help us wrap up Women’s History Month. This week also coincides with International Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st), which celebrates the accomplishments of transgender and gender nonconforming people, while also bringing awareness to the work that is needed to achieve trans justice (GLSEN).

As a trans woman, Ivory describes her childhood as “a push and pull of joy and questioning.” Born and raised in the Philippines, Ivory moved to the US to study at Berklee College of Music. An accomplished singer, dancer, and actor, Ivory is best known for portraying transgender activist Cecilia Chung in the miniseries “When We Rise” and being cast as Alysia Yeoh in DC Film’s “Batgirl.” Her powerful stories remind us why it is so important to approach the unknown with curiosity, rather than fear.

Living Well with Janet: What is the Formula for Happiness? Mar 29, 2023
    Show notes

It is probably one of the most elusive things pursued by humankind. When people ask: “what do you hope to achieve in life?” “what is your ultimate goal?” or “what is the meaning of life?” – you’ll often hear the answer: I just want to be happy. But what does that really mean? Is it a state of being? Is it the same for everyone? Is it even achievable? March 20th is the UN International Day of Happiness. The purpose of this holiday is to make people around the world realize the importance of happiness within their lives. In honor of this mission, this episode explores happiness in my own life and prompts you to think about it in yours.

If you enjoyed this episode, please share your unique formula for happiness and leave a simple, classic smile emoji in the comments of our IG post!
