Blood & Roses - "I need nourishment."

We continue our round of Vampire Lesbian goodness with the classic BLOOD & ROSES (1960) directed by Roger Vadim. This is a tale of love, lust and jealousy through the ages. Carmilla, the doppelgänger of an ancient vampire takes on more then just the looks of her ancestor, but takes on her role...blood will be spilled and roses will wilt in her presence!

Annette Stroyberg as Carmilla levels us all - beautiful imagery and a fantastic ride between the past and some space age Barbarella-style dream sequences make this a HMSG favorite!

Vampyros Lesbos - "I'm Under Her Spell"

Turns out that 1971 was a good year for Vampire Lesbian flicks - last week with Daughters of Darkness & this week we cover the quintessential Lesbian Vampire movie - VAMPYROS LESBOS (1971) directed by Jesus Franco. This one stars the gorgeous Soledad Miranda as the Countess Nadine Carody, the luminous progeny of a legendary vampire who lures in the stunning Linda Westinghouse played by Ewa Stromberg.

This beautifully shot, fun & sexy take on the Dracula legend takes a deliciously arthouse approach and spins the legend on his head adding some new "vamp rules."

This week we start our round of one of our favorite sub-genres, of a sub-genre - Lesbian Vampire movies with 1971's DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS - directed by Harry Kumel.
Never have we wanted to be Renfields more than to the luminous Delphine Seyrig, the Countess Elizabeth Bathory herself! A stunning, atmospheric, lonesome vampire flick set in the winter on the Belgian seaside, this film is incredibly unique, and a feast for all senses! Beautiful, 70's lesbian vampires ahoy! Love this one!
