A healthy dose of rejection… None of us like rejection, but it does happen and many times as Christians it's exactly what God intends. Sharing this situation with The Bible Babes , one of the ladies gave this quote:
"Rejection is many times God's protection and His redirection"
I do believe everything is a God situation when something happens instead of throwing a fit, feeling like a victim or blaming I like to think and ask… God, what do you want me to learn here? I think any tactic He uses to draw me back to him, bring me into a better way of thinking, or even get me out of a certain situation calls for praise and gratefulness that He cares for my daily thoughts and actions that much.
It does take a while to bring ourselves to this kind of thinking, but I believe it's how God wants us to think instead of selfishly. Don't get me wrong I have my moments of selfishness, my own pity parties, and me dwelling in the misunderstanding of it all. But He always draws me back to His truth and I not only want to share that with you, but also encourage you. We can do the same through Him.

Getting to talk less and less about my late husband leaves a void. In this episode, we talk through how it feels, almost four years later, to carry on as a widowed, singled mom who does her best to keep going. Uggg - this is pretty real and raw.

"This is Where I Leave You" is the movie I reference in this episode. Now, I don't necessarily love everything about this movie, but some parts get me in the gut. (I always loved movies and if all school curriculum could be in movie form, I would have retained so much knowledge. hehe!)

In the midst of trouble, sadness and hardship... Confused? Wondering what's happening or how to deal? What do you do?
I try to speak to these very things in this episode, sharing my troubles and how I keep my heart and mind above the despair and focus on what His Word tells us.
We are seeing lots of things in our world that contribute to this as well as experiencing things in our own lives. None of this is a surprise to Him, and He tells us not only how to get through, but that in Him, our troubles do not even compare to the glory that is waiting for us on the other side as Christians.

The truth - probably the thing we see the least these days. The good news is that the truth is available and just waiting for us to remind ourselves of it.
In our drive to school today, my son read from Jesus Today by Sarah Young (as kids devotional) which is all about truth. Not sure what's happening in your life currently, but I have a feeling most of us are dealing with something or maybe a few things... I get it. Widowhood is not for the faint of heart and feeling alone and defeated is something I have to fight daily. Seeking Jesus is a critical as air and water for me, at this point and I praise God he is always ready for me.

If I could give advice to new-widow me... Mindy talks about what she would say to herself three years ago when Lee passed. This advice has remained true for years. She shares a powerful scripture with us and ends with a pray for all those who have lost.
Being a widow feels so lonely. Like you speak a language few understand. One you never want to burden others with or give them a ticket the ridiculous rollercoaster that accompanies grief.
Most of us don't share or we hold it all in when we are around others in an effort to not let anyone down. Mindy believes it's imperative to connect with other widows, find zero drama, nonjudgmental friends to walk along side you. She gives a few places she's found and wants you to know, above all... you don't have to do this alone, especially when we have Christ.
