A Pod of Their Own, Episode 146: Vibes of the Year Award Nov 16, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing the Edwin Díaz signing and free agents the Mets have been connected to so far this offseason. We also congratulation Buck Showalter for winning NL Manager of the Year.

Next, we recap our feelings on the World Series and the 2022 playoffs in general. We lament the fact that it was the first World Series since 1950 with no U.S.-born Black players playing in it. But, we celebrate where baseball has made progress in other ways, such as the Marlins recently promoting Caroline O’Connor to team president, making them the first team in MLB history to have women serving as both GM and team president.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

    From Complex To Queens, Episode 196: FCL/DSL 2022 review Nov 14, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.

First up this week, Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas discuss poorly thought out Charleston RiverDogs promotional nights in Promote, Extend, Trade.

Next, they review the Mets’ Arizona Fall League contingent and how they did over the course of the AFL season now that it’s over.

Following that, they discuss Mets minor league players who received All-Star nominations.

Lastly, they share their thoughts about players who saw time in the Florida Complex League and Dominican Summer League in 2022. Wins and losses don’t matter at all in the FCL or DSL and stats barely matter, so the team discusses players with skills and talent who stand out above their peers.

UnforMETable, Episode 99: Kenny Rogers Nov 08, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the team past.

Kenny Rogers had a long and circuitous path to the major leagues, but slowly but surely rode two important pitching traits—durability and left-handedness—to major league success.

Rogers rose from a LOOGY to a bullpen staple to a rotation staple in Texas—making baseball history with a perfect game along the way—all while battling the front office on salary issues and befuddling teammates with his aloof manner. Rogers signed with the Yankees prior to the 1996 season and struggled, but the team overcame those struggles to win a World Championship.

After resurrecting his career in Oakland, the Mets traded for Rogers for the 1999 stretch run. He provided 5 wins and his inning-eating stability down the stretch as the team barely made the playoffs, but he struggled mightily in the 1999 playoffs, eventually walking in the series-ending run in New York’s epic Game 6 loss to the Braves in the NLCS.

From Complex To Queens, Episode 195: St. Lucie Mets 2022 review Nov 07, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.

First up this week, Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas discuss bad baseball nicknames in Promote, Extend, Trade.

Next, they review the Mets’ Arizona Fall League contingent and how they did in this fourth week of the AFL season.

Following that, they quickly touch on some breaking news and how it will affect the Mets minor league system.

Lastly, they share their thoughts about the 2022 St. Lucie Mets season. The team had a ton of highly-regarded Mets prospects and farmhands rostered in the first half and they took care of business, winning the Florida State League East division. Promotions cost them some of their higher profile players in the second half, but 2022 draftees provided reinforcements late and the team went on to sweep the playoffs, winning their sixth Florida State League championship!

A Pod of Their Own, Episode 145: The Mets are ghosting like it’s Tinder Nov 02, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing David Stearns stepping down as president of baseball operations with the Brewers and whether the Mets may pursue him for their front office in the future.

Next, we talk about how the Mets expressed interest in J.T. Realmuto last offseason, but then never followed up—as J.T. Realmuto plays in the World Series for the Mets’ division rival.

Then, we discuss Marcus Stroman’s troubling tweets and Twitter likes containing anti-semitic dog whistles and the general rise of anti-semitic sentiments expressed by public figures.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

From Complex To Screams, Episode 194: Brooklyn Cyclones 2022 review Oct 31, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.

First up this week, Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas discuss Christopher Lee in a Halloween-themed Promote, Extend, Trade.

Next, they review the Mets’ Arizona Fall League contingent and how they did in this fourth week of the AFL season.

After, they share their thoughts about the 2022 Brooklyn Cyclones season. Expectations were somewhat high coming into the season, but some questionable roster choices early in the year led to the team having a less-than-stellar first half. Things turned around in a hurry in the second half as promotions began. Brooklyn ended up winning the second half division and clinched a playoff berth, but unfortunate did not advance very far, losing to the Aberdeen IronBirds in the best-of-three- series.
