The Feds STAY F*cking with Black Liberation Aug 25, 2021
    Show notes

It’s nothing new, we just have more data to prove it now: The Feds have intentionally and disproportionately targeted Black Lives Matter protesters and organizers in order to stop the Black liberation movement. This week Eboni and Dustin go all the way in analyzing the report and its similarities to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination and the assassination of Fred Hampton. Plus, we get into the drama surrounding Beyonce & Jay-Z’s Basquiat debacle, Dustin explains those damn milk crates to Eboni, and the absolute dumpster fire of damning testimony about R. Kelly and Aaliyah during the first week of trial for R. Kelly.

    Your Parents Don’t Owe You Sh*t! Aug 11, 2021
    Show notes

Please understand that we have nothing for Dr. Dre. He just keeps ending up in headlines and this week it’s because his daughter is living in her car. Eboni and Dustin strongly disagree on how the hip hop mogul should handle the situation - a conversation you’ll love. We’re also taking a good hard look at rapper Corey Miller and his hunger strike for better conditions in prison and Ezekiel Elliott’s damn ferocious a$$ dogs that keep landing him on the receiving end of lawsuits. Go ahead and jump into this episode and don’t forget to rate, comment, subscribe, tell a friend and hit up Dustin and Eboni with your #AskAuntieE questions! Your question could be featured on Holding Court!

It’s All Love Until That Spousal Support Hits Aug 04, 2021
    Show notes

We know that Kelly Clarkson isn’t part of The Culture but just walk with us for a moment. Her recent divorce and the exorbitant amount of spousal and child support she’s been ordered to pay her ex are a cautionary tale for us all. Eboni and Dustin break down those payments and the reason marriage is so much more than romance. (Can you see a steady thread this season?) We also get into the DaBaby’s (aka DaDummy's) hateful and harmful homophobic rant at Rolling Loud, Kim Kardashian’s name embroiled in yet another copyright lawsuit - this time with a Black woman owned skincare brand, and why millions of Americans are facing eviction because the government can't seem to do it's motherf*cking job. Let's get into it.

    Justice for Sha’Carri: Olympics, Weed & Bullsh*t Jul 28, 2021
    Show notes

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for Robert Kelly...they did. On this episode Eboni and Dustin get straight to the new allegations against the R&B singer ahead of his already turbulent upcoming trial. Eboni also gets really real about the almost $300k per month that Dr. Dre must begin paying his estranged wife and why he’s dumb to do it. And last but not least, Eboni and Dustin discuss the big time hypocrisy of the Olympics when it comes to which cannabis products athletes can and can’t use. (Sending love to sister Sha’Carri Richardson!) It’s a damn shame and we are NOT here for it.

Your Eyes Playin' Tricks on You... Jul 21, 2021

This week’s docket is giving variety with everything from breaking down Richard Sherman’s unfortunate arrest (and the actual definition of domestic violence); the facts about Britney Spears’s new lawyer; and the ways a Portland police department tampered with photo evidence and how it affected a Black man’s prison sentence. If you are interested in learning more about the stats on the systemic problems with eyewitness testimony, listen to this week’s episode and check out The Innocence Project’s extensive work on the link between eyewitness testimony and wrongful convictions.

    Diversity Higher Jul 14, 2021
    Show notes

We’re back on the mic this week! Speaking of mics... Rachel Nichols’ mic was HOT and Eboni and Dustin have thoughts on her offensive take on Maria Taylor’s (well-deserved) rise at ESPN. We also tackle the hot water Tulane University’s School of Medicine it’s found itself in due to ‘concerns about widespread racism’, why Britney Spears’ lawyers are jumping ship, Bill Cosby’s comeback tour (???), and the battle for homeownership going on NYC that we can all learn a big lesson from.

Celebrating Black Strides In Our Headlines Jul 07, 2021
    Show notes

Eboni and Dustin are getting some much-needed R&R this week but we aren't leaving you hanging. This episode is a short compilation of some of the headlines we've enjoyed covering this year that highlight the strides being made by and for Black people even in the face of opposition. Think of it as an extended Juneteenth celebration of Black resilience and positivity. We've covered everything from reparations in Illinois and Virginia, to the Black female officer who won a years-long battle for backpay, to the precedent Baltimore (namely State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby) is setting when it comes to nonviolent crimes. Check out this episode and join us again next week for more Holding Court.
