And not only are you owning the tasks at hand, but you are carrying a spiritual and emotional weight that is unique to your job. So how do you manage your own anxiety when having to deal with people? How does your reactivity reveal what's going on deep inside of you? What's the difference between caring for something and carrying something that isn't ours to carry?

How Do I Know If I'm Okay? Sep 03, 2024

You made it through the crazy summer. You might have snuck in a vacation or found yourself on a beach for at least for a few days. But fall is here! You're now getting to embrace all of the packed schedules, weekly programs, and lack of rest. It's so easy to "push through" and wait for that next weekend off, but don't let yourself keep going without first asking, "How am I actually doing?"
Aunt P is back to help us talk about how to take a pulse on our spiritual, mental, and emotional wellbeing. We don't want you to keep yourself so busy that you end up running yourself into the ground. So, how do you know if you're actually okay? In a recent poll of girls ministers, over 60% responded as single (not engaged or married). But as two married gals hosting this podcast, we knew we aren't the experts to talk about being single in ministry. So we invited a dear friend and minister, Delaney Degelow, to share the good, bad, and often weird parts of being single in ministry.
We talk work boundaries, dating in ministry, and what people should NOT say to singles on church staff. It's such a fun, honest conversation and we learned a ton! So whether you're single or married, make sure to tune in before our next episode on marriage in ministry.
Delaney serves as the High School Ministry Associate at New Vision Baptist Church, and she has had the privilege of working in ministry since 2015. But when do we acknowledge our limitations and refer our students, leaders, parents, and maybe even ourselves to professional counseling? And how do we go about doing that? That's why we’re introducing Aunt P—our friend and residential counseling professional on this podcast!

Aunt P walks you through the steps to seek and refer counseling in the way best suited to your situation. It will be important to know the laws for your state (including, but not limited to, mandatory reporting). We are not here to be your counselor but to help point you in the right direction to find and refer counseling.

Remember Your Calling Nov 13, 2023

Did God actually call me to work in student ministry? What if my calling looks different than I thought it would? Am I in the wrong calling? What should I do once I am called? These are all common questions we hear often from ministry leaders, and we want you to know you're not alone if you've asked any one of them. In Our Feels with Mac and Kenz Oct 30, 2023

We are so thankful to have friends and Lifeway Girls authors, Mac Bridges and Kenz Durham, with us for this episode all about feelings! Working with teen girls in ministry, we experience and talk through all the feels. You might not be a feeler, but what if we told you that God has created our feelings to invite us into intimacy with Him? And here’s the deal, that invitation isn’t just for your teen girls. It’s for you, too!

Mac and Kenz met in the Belmont University cafeteria their freshmen year of college when their moms introduced them because they share the same name (MacKenzie). Then, they quickly bonded over more than just their namesake—they both had a deep love for Jesusand a zeal for community. Over the years, they’ve started Delight ministries together, written books together, and created For The Girl as a way to combine those two passions. They believe that following Jesus is the most wildly exciting ride of your life, taking yourself too seriously is overrated, and faith is best done in community!
