The conclusion of Justin Baldoni's jam packed lawsuit against the New York Times that covers a pile of alleged inaccuracies from their article regarding a "smear campaign" against Blake Lively. Full text message exchanges between Justin's team seem to present a different reality from the vindictive scenarios outlined in Blake's complaint. Justin's version tells a story of his small production house being blindsided and strong-armed into submission by a powerful celebrity couple. Multiple things can be true, and while several allegations weren't addressed, both sides want a jury trial which hopefully means every detail will be shared at some point.

Justin Baldoni files an 87 page lawsuit against the New York Times, this episode reviews contradictions from statements made in Blake Lively's complaint. His perspective seems to be that she held something over Wayfarer as a bargaining chip of sorts to get her way, and that he and his team agreed to her escalating demands to keep the peace. They appear to frame her allegations as a means to regain positive public image that they state was not damaged by a "smear campaign" but rather her own tone deaf actions during the movie's promotional period. Each of their filings reflect very strong, and very opposing, perspectives. Part 6 covers the first half of his filing, Part 7 covers the rest as well as my summary thoughts after realizing one party is either lying or delusional.

Deep Dive: It Ends With Us, Part 4 - Reviewing Blake Lively's Complaint Dec 24, 2024

Sharing details and information from the legal complaint filed by Blake Lively's attorneys on Friday December, 20 that alleges rampant inappropriate conduct on the set of It Ends With Us. The complaint shares her perspective as to what life was like during the initial weeks of shooting the film in early May, through when strikes shut down production, and her efforts to improve the work atmosphere before filming resumed in early 2024. The list of allegations spans repeatedly making comments about women's bodies, mentioning porn, asking lewd questions, a lack of boundaries, and a seemingly unprofessional production team. Part 5 will cover what happened with the marketing and public relations efforts for the actors after the film had wrapped.

Dorit's DGAF season continues to give and give as the episode shows us various topics, from Sutton supporting Garcelle's move into her renovated beach house, Jennifer Tilly's Bel Air real estate collection, Boze's travels, Kyle's self love, and Erika's affinity for pizza and delusion - yet none are as entertaining as watching Dorit pop off on a smug Camille. That moment comes during a western fetish party Kyle throws, complete with mechanical bull, tattoo station, errant saddles, and wagon wheel decor. Sutton's attempts to lead the charge into a sorority atmosphere once again fall flat and lead to a cinematic masterpiece of mockery and contempt that results in Dorit snapping and not holding back, however much Erika tries to rein her in.

The ladies pick up on a "to be continued" tiff at dinner in Mission Beach between Dorit and Kyle as the rest of the group watches the back and forth like a tennis match - and cringes as conversation devolves into a tangent about John Mellencamp's daughter, courtesy of Garcelle. The battle seems to fizzle while out to sea, only to gear back up as the ladies prepare to take to the sky. Sutton attempts to focus on sisterhood, friendship, and being open with each other but her plans are misunderstood by Dorit who's been fielding critiques from all sides. Meanwhile, Kathy continues to give us comedic relief and outstanding floral arrangements, Kyle brushes up on her wacky faces amidst interpersonal conflict a la Amsterdam, and Boze and Jennifer Tilly observe and try to enjoy themselves despite it all.

The topic that super cedes all others is the unity of the majority, the wave of their discontent that is calling out the abuse and misdeeds of privatized healthcare and insurance that has resulted in prioritization of money over health. As voices get louder, we're also witnessing a suppression of related content and an eagerness to make an example out of a woman who said specific words in anger after being denied a claim this week. Also, a look at civil unrest through a historical lens, morality policing, and why this next generation isn't as phased by violence as their elders may expect.
