Roasting The Broligarchy: Erasing Epstein, Unnatural Disasters, and The Tax Bill of Preventable Pain, Suffering, and Death Jul 09, 2025

Show notes

As Trump and Elon continue their online slap fight, we stay focused on the massive tax bill that will take from the working class to provide an astronomical budget for ICE and border patrol, along with tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. From eliminating loan options for the already burdensome endeavor of pursuing higher education in America, to ensuring a sharp decline in Medicaid eligibility, the effects of this bill will be felt for generations. While Pam Bondi's DOJ continues its pursuit of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and declares the Epstein files nonexistent, we take a moment to learn about her colleague, Emil Bove, and the whistleblower case about him. With details continuing to emerge about the deadly floods across central Texas, meteorologists point out where the failure to warn people on the ground seems to have happened. An open letter from EPA staff that warned of the consequences of undercutting environmental protections resulted in harsh blowback, all while DEI ultimatums for academia and public schools continue.

Recap: The Valley S2E10 - You've Been Served Jun 25, 2025

Show notes

Unfortunately, this episode focuses on Jax. We witness his first haircut, botox session, and boyz noight out after being released from treatment, all while lamenting about not yet seeing his son despite not contacting the mother of his child. A party for Zach's boyfriend Benji provides an opportunity for Jax to reintroduce himself to the group and massage the narrative that he's doing great, never had a problem with drinking or drugs, and is instead focusing on an anger problem. Zach's lack of respect or reverence for Jax is a highlight and fun to watch after all the cowering and deference from every other man on the show. Danny and Nia continue to battle criticism about Darkside Danny from Janet and Jason, Luke's relationship with Danny stays strong as they plot the upcoming Hawaii proposal trip, and Michelle reveals that Jesse is preventing their daughter from seeing her terminally ill mother. BONUS: An impassioned plea to Alex Baskin

Later, as Kristen tries to confront Janet for talking crap after claiming they'd made peace, we're again reminded of the value of Scheana because she tells everyone what's being said about them. We learn more about what Michelle has been dealing with in her personal life, which only makes Jesse's behavior towards her more disgusting. Brittany's one "noight" at the bar she helped create includes awkward moments for Jax loyalists, and for Michelle, who has begun to feel that her ex is on par with Jax but she hasn't gotten the same level of support.

Book Review: Careless People, Part 5 - When Immoral Political Aspirations Meet an Unprincipled Platform Jun 11, 2025

Show notes

The journey of former Facebook/Meta executive Sarah Wynn-Williams continues as we review highlights and takeaways from Chapters 33-37. As Sarah slowly makes her return to work after a complicated delivery with her second child, her manager, Joel, maintains his dual status as the least likeable person in the book and as a cautionary tale for any workplace. The outcome of the 2016 election displays the undeniable power of Facebook/Meta in swaying perceptions and opinions to once again uplift any political underdog, for the right price. Coming to grips with that influence and connection to Trump's win in 2016 is something Mark struggles with, until he realizes that unbridled power could also enable any aspirations of his own. A chilling segment that ends with the author feeling sure of her intent to leave the company as soon as possible.
