Ep. 66 | 10 Lessons from a Near-Death Experience with Vinney Tolman Apr 18, 2023

Meghan is joined by author Vinney Tolman as he shares lessons learned when he died. Vinney was dead for over an hour and was put in a body bag before coming back to life. During his death and the subsequent days in a coma, Vinney was visited by a special guide and taught important truths to apply in our mortal journeys. Topics Include:

Vincent Todd Tolman was born in Arlington Tx and raised in California and Utah.
Growing up, Vinney garnered a passion for animals and nature. He would feel the most comfortable in the woods of the mountains by his home. He
had his first brush with death when hit by a truck while rollerblading at the age of 14. He loved playing football and then later Rugby in high school and college.
In his lifetime, he has learned to speak German, Spanish, French, Russian, Cambodian, and Thai, but he keeps a conversational fluency in Vietnamese. He has traveled the world, visiting Europe, Russia, and Asia. He has also lived in Cambodia and Thailand.
Vinney has worked many jobs, including being a home builder, as well as many other construction trades. He has done many other trades and jobs including being a producer for TV and Movies. But his favorite job is being a light-worker, someone who helps others discover and find their own light and divine path.
Vinney and his soulmate Andrea are both passionate about their 2 amazing kids, and discovering new life adventures everyday.
Even though Vinney has lived in over 30 states over the years, he finds his home and life in the Desert Southwest. He loves spending his free time with his family traveling to all their favorite places. He is an avid meditator, and he meditates daily even if only for a few minutes. He loves connecting to spirit and anything that helps raise his frequency.
When Vinney is not working, you will find him traveling, adventuring, and playing with his kids. The most important things to Vinney are first and foremost his relationship to his creator, secondly loving his family, and all those who come into contact with him.

Kerry Muhlestein received his B.S. from BYU in Psychology with a Hebrew minor. As an undergraduate he spent time at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies in the intensive Hebrew program. He received an M.A. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies from BYU and his Ph.D. from UCLA in Egyptology, where in his final year he was named the UCLA Affiliates Graduate Student of the Year. He taught courses in Hebrew and Religion part time at BYU and the UVSC extension center, as well as in history at Cal Poly Pomona and UCLA. He also taught early morning seminary and at the Westwood (UCLA) Institute of Religion. His first full time appointment was a joint position in Religion and History at BYU-Hawaii.
Kerry is the director of the BYU Egypt Excavation Project. He was selected by the Princeton Review in 2012 as one of the best 300 professors in the nation (the top .02% of those considered). He was also a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford for the 2016-17 academic year. He has published 9 books, over 60 peer reviewed articles, and has done over 75 academic presentations.
Kerry and his wife, Julianne, are the parents of six children and one grandchild, and together they have lived in Jerusalem while Kerry has taught there on multiple occasions. He has served as the chairman of a national committee for the American Research Center in Egypt and serves on their Research Supporting Member Council and on the Board of Governors. He has also served on a committee for the Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities, and currently serves on their Board of Trustees and as a Vice President of the organization, and has served as president. He has been the co-chair for the Egyptian Archaeology Session of the American Schools of Oriental Research. He is also a Senior Fellow of the William F. Albright Institute for Archaeological Research. He serves on the BYU Studies Quarterly Editorial Board. He is involved with the International Association of Egyptologists, and has worked with Educational Testing Services on their AP World History exam.

Meghan is thrilled to be joined by Mandy Green, scholar of Divine Femininity, in this special episode! The doctrine of Heavenly Mother is largely a mystery - but perhaps it doesn't have to be that way. Topics Include:

Mandy Green graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities, and her love of that field has woven beautiful threads into all aspects of her life.

Mandy became fluent in Russian during her two year ecclesiastical mission to Moscow where she realized the power of understanding other languages. Since that time, she studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and has learned Biblical Hebrew and Koine Greek, which has allowed her to study scriptural texts in their originally written languages.

Mandy’s post-graduate studies have included a wide range of topics: Biblical Hebrew, New Testament Greek, the writings of Hugh Nibley, Egyptian religion, Hermeticism, Grail lore, and the Divine Feminine, with particular focus on Mary Magdalene.

Mandy is passionate about sharing her knowledge and has done so in many ways. She taught adult religion classes at BYU, has led tour groups in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, England, Scotland, and France, and is currently teaching at Project Illumination and writing and producing the podcast Reflecting Light.

Mandy loves to interact with students and fellow travelers and wants to help them experience all of the light and beauty there is to be found. Aside from her knowledge, she does this through her naturally friendly nature and humor. Her love of truth, light, knowledge, goddesses and flamingos (don’t forget the flamingos) makes for an unparalleled instruction experience.

Meghan is joined this week by Nicki Hansen to discuss observations and insights regarding the temple, and how it relates to our mortal journeys. Topics Include:

Nicole Hansen is currently a stay-at-home mom with two children. Her husband is a landscape architect. Nicole was born in Utah. She met her husband at Utah state where she studied Chemistry. She worked as a chemist for about 12 years, most of which time was spent in pharmaceuticals. She later taught at the college level, worked for the department of defense, and in the tech industry before her first child was born.
Nicole grew a love for numbers, and also dual careered in investing and real estate. Through all her experiences, she gained a love for identifying the Lord's hand in her life and seeing His ways and patterns unfold. She learned to Hear Him as a result of recognizing these patterns.
Nicole has recently embarked on a new journey of song-writing LDS Christian music. This was was not a skill she knew she had, but was taught it through a process of revelation. Her songs have played on Christian radio, including Utah's own soft Sunday Sounds. She tries to write and portray the emotions I have had in her own journeying toward Christ, as well as the patterns I see in His Word.
She is extremely passionate about the temple and has really grown to love spending most of her free time there. She says, "It truly is the greatest house of learning. I am passionate about each of us learning to grow into a temple and vessel of the Lord and a house where His presence can dwell. In my chemistry education, I focused my studies on Quantum Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and throughout my career I gained an understanding that they were all interconnected. And spiritually related that to the connection of both body and spirit and the effects on one to the other. Which has further advanced my interest in our bodies being a temple."
Nicole recently started a YouTube channel titled "Patterns and Sequences" where we discuss the scriptures through a temple lens and tie a little bit of modern science and modern-day prophet revelation to help us all better learn to pattern our lives after our greatest exemplar Jesus Christ and to live after His holy order and the patterns as shown to us in His holy temple.

Morgan Philpot lives in Utah. He is married to Natalie Philpot and they have five kids. Morgan is an attorney and has practiced law in Utah, Oregon, Nevada and California. His experience is diverse, including high profile civil liberties, criminal, civil litigation, and appellate cases. He was one of the attorneys for in the Malheur Oregon Refuge Occupation trial, the Nevada Bundy Ranch Standoff trial, the Finicum wrongful death suit and the Count My Vote lawsuit that went before Utah’s Supreme Court.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Morgan served as a Utah State Representative and as Vice-Chair of the Utah Republican Party. Morgan also clerked for Utah's Attorney General and served as the General Counsel/Govt. Affairs Director for a Utah company.

Oak Norton has no better way to describe his role than that of acting CEO and junior assistant creator of Scripture Notes. Starting as a passion, the creation and resources to build this application have come by faith and inspiration, one step into the darkness at a time.

In his daily life, Oak works as the CFO and CIO of a regional law firm, but in his spare time, when he isn't working on Scripture Notes, he's an advocate for agency-based education, runs an adult co-ed soccer league, and loves playing disc golf.

He lives in Highland, Utah with his wife, and they are the proud parents of 5 unique children.
