Why Nobody Around D4vd Or Nolan Wells Will Talk Aug 01, 2026
    Show notes

Two cases. Two dead teenagers. And a pattern: the adults who were closest to both of them either denied what they knew or hired attorneys to talk for them.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s father said he never knew d4vd. Testimony showed he signed a travel form and sat in church with the man prosecutors say killed his fourteen-year-old daughter. In Mississippi, one of the friends on Horn Island with Nolan Wells retained a lawyer who announced defamation lawsuits and a PI firm before anyone in authority said a word about how the eighteen-year-old died.

Former prosecutor Eric Faddis examines the legal exposure on both sides — the parents who allegedly facilitated a relationship in California and the friends’ legal blitz in Mississippi — and the institutional silence that made all of this worse.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Nolan Wells’ cause of death is undetermined.

Nolan Wells’ Friend Hired An Attorney To Do WHAT?! Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

One of the friends on Horn Island with Nolan Wells on July 4th didn’t just hire an attorney — he hired one who announced nationwide defamation lawsuits, retained a PI firm to track down social media users, and publicly declared that adding “allegedly” to a post won’t save you.

Former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down what a legal offensive of this size means before a grand jury has even convened — and whether the investigation’s twenty-five days of public silence is the real reason an attorney is doing the talking the DA should be doing.

The official autopsy is sealed. Nobody has been cleared. Nobody has been named. The family’s independent pathologist couldn’t determine how Nolan died. And the only public accounting of that night comes from the friends’ legal teams.

Nolan Wells was eighteen. He was the only one from the group who didn’t come back.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: First Responders Describe Her Condition and the Children's Injuries Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy, the 34-year-old Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023, faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty. Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, is mounting an insanity defense built on severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Today the state kept building its timeline from the ground up. Duxbury Police Officers Mark Anthony Maffeo and Richard Lippard — among the first through the door — walked the jury through what they found and the state Clancy was in when they arrived. Emergency physicians Dr. Mark Josephtenerowicz and Dr. Benjamin Kaufman took the stand next, describing her physical condition on admission and the injuries sustained by the children. Lab Supervisor Melissa Arcadipane rounded out the day, walking jurors through the clinical findings that came out of processing.

None of it was easy testimony to sit through, and it wasn't meant to be — this is the prosecution laying brick by brick, witness by witness, before Reddington gets his turn to argue none of it means what it looks like. Clancy is now paralyzed from the waist down after allegedly jumping from a second-story window following the killings. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court before Judge William F. Sullivan, with Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham leading for the prosecution.

Patrick Clancy Was Still Screaming When Police Came Back Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Officer Brian Josephine was standing over Lindsay Clancy in a snow-covered Duxbury backyard when the screaming started inside the house. What he did over the next several minutes came out on the third day of testimony in her murder trial, and it is the kind of account that stays with a jury.

He and Officer Stephen Hall went in. The children's father met them, frantic, telling them he couldn't wake them up. They went to the basement. Josephine testified that only the eight-month-old had a pulse at all, and it was faint. Then, in his words, based on his training and previous incidents, he knew it wasn't going to be good.

What he did next is in this episode.

Also covered: the fire captain who watched through a basement window from outside, the retired firefighter pulling a stretcher from an ambulance in the driveway when an officer came running out of the house, the paramedic who described exactly what she did for an infant over a defense objection, the firefighter who worked a five-year-old with a defibrillator, and the second ambulance called for the children's father in the kitchen.

CBS News Boston counted ten first responders on the stand. Every one of them testified about an act Lindsay Clancy's own attorney conceded on the record before opening statements. Her defense is lack of criminal responsibility — postpartum psychosis, and a voice her lawyers say she heard. Prosecutors allege she acted deliberately. Not one expert on that question has testified yet.

The day ended at 12:07 in the afternoon. The prosecution ran out of witnesses, and Judge William Sullivan told the room the trial is ahead of schedule.

Tony Brueski on what that morning was really for.

D4vd’s Defense Team Blamed WHAT On Celeste Rivas?! Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

In a case involving a body found in a Tesla trunk, chainsaws ordered under a fake name, and a thirteen-to-nineteen-million-dollar record deal as alleged motive, Blair Berk’s defense team pressed the LA County medical examiner on whether Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s wounds could have been self-inflicted. They got a detective to read messages where Celeste referenced harming herself.

Former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down what that defense strategy means — and whether arguing self-infliction in a dismemberment case is genuine legal theory or manufactured reasonable doubt designed to survive a jury poll.

Prosecutors mapped the timeline from first contact when Celeste was eleven to a twenty-one-minute window on the night she disappeared. Bodycam from February 2024 shows deputies told Burke she was thirteen. The relationship allegedly continued fourteen more months until she was dead.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is held without bail. Celeste was fourteen years old.

Celeste’s Dad Said WHAT About D4vd After She Disappeared?! Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s father made a public statement through his attorney after David Anthony Burke’s arrest: he’d never had any contact with the singer. Five days of preliminary hearing testimony contradicted every word of it.

Detective Farell testified the parents knew. Burke attended the family’s church. Celeste’s sister traveled with them to Las Vegas. A notarized consent form bearing the parents’ signatures sent their thirteen-year-old daughter to London with a grown man. Celeste was reportedly pregnant at thirteen while her parents were allegedly aware of the relationship.

Former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the legal exposure facing the adults who signed the documents, issued the denials, and allegedly watched their daughter travel internationally with the man now charged with her murder.

A teacher tried to intervene. Deputies visited Burke’s home and confirmed she was there. Nobody with the power to stop it did. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Celeste was fourteen years old.

What Nolan Wells’ Friend Already Gave Investigators Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Bart Edmiston — one of the friends who was on Horn Island with Nolan Wells on July 4 — has retained attorney Russ Latino and is preparing defamation lawsuits against the people who accused him online of killing Nolan. His lawyer says Bart already provided his boat, GPS data, and phone to investigators. He's cooperated fully. And he just received a credible death threat because of what his attorney calls "wholly fabricated" claims.Filing a defamation suit opens the door to the one thing fabricated claims can't survive: discovery. Depositions under oath. Subpoenas that pull every text and every GPS coordinate into a courtroom. Nobody volunteers for that process if they have something to hide.Ben Crump filed subpoenas to Snapchat, TikTok, WhatsApp, Meta, and Life360 — requesting login histories, IP addresses, password resets, GPS data, and message records. Both sides agreed to a mutual cell phone inspection. The data comes back in twenty-one days. When it does, the Snapchat question gets an answer based on evidence, not speculation. The internet manufactured an entire case file out of a debunked pool photo, an altered audio recording, and AI-generated fakes of Nolan's mother. Every viral accusation made the investigation harder, not easier. And the kids at the center of it — the friends Nolan grew up with, played football with, went to that island with — are carrying death threats for something nobody has proven they did.

Kohberger's Family Saved His Life For WHAT?! Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Years before Moscow, Idaho, Bryan Kohberger was a nineteen-year-old fresh out of rehab who stole his sister's phone, sold it at a mall kiosk for less than half its value, and warned his father not to do anything stupid when he got caught. Then his family went to work. They fixed him.

Community college. A bachelor's degree. A master's. A doctoral program in Washington State. By every measure available, they had won. Melissa used the word "proud" in an interview, and she'd earned it.

What came back through that door carried two degrees and did what was done on King Road. And the reflex — whoever is closest is a lever, and levers get pulled — never changed. A courtroom walkout without looking at his mother. Video calls for hours, every day, for months. A birthday cake baked to his specifications from behind reinforced glass. A post-conviction petition filed July 27 naming the three lawyers who kept him off death row, with a reporter at the Times notified before his own family.

This is not a case breakdown. It is not petition analysis. It is an open letter to the people who rebuilt Bryan Kohberger, asking them to consider that the door they've been holding open stopped leading somewhere a long time ago. That letting go doesn't cost them their decency, and that setting down the weight is not the same as pretending it never existed.

Madison Mogen was twenty-one. Kaylee Goncalves was twenty-one. Xana Kernodle was twenty. Ethan Chapin was twenty. Their families carry those names forever. The Kohberger family still gets a choice.

Do Bryan Kohberger And Lindsay Clancy Believe Themselves? Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

Both Bryan Kohberger and Lindsay Clancy are asking the legal system to accept an account of something nobody else can see, and the two requests could not be less alike. Full conversation on both cases here.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski. Her background runs through private practice, community mental health, crisis teams, and forensic programs across more than thirty years.

Kohberger admitted the University of Idaho murders in open court, waived his appeal, and was sentenced to four consecutive life terms. A year later he filed for post-conviction relief representing himself and told a national newspaper his actual innocence is his truth. The segment covers that phrasing, his allegations against his former attorneys, the effect of a year of silence on a person's self-account, and the timing of his statement against a documentary premiere built around the four students who died.

Clancy's trial turns on whether she was criminally responsible. She does not deny killing her three children. The segment covers the prosecution's framing of her treatment history as manipulation, the medication timeline her defense presented, why a stable-looking afternoon is consistent with psychosis rather than evidence against it, and what a not criminally responsible finding actually triggers in Massachusetts.

The through-line is not that these two are similar. It is that only one of them is making a claim a clinician could ever evaluate.

Scott also takes the question sitting underneath both segments, which is what a courtroom is actually built to evaluate. Juries assess credibility, motive, and behavior. None of those tools were designed for a psychotic illness, and none of them work on a man asserting a private truth about himself a year after saying the opposite under oath.

Follow Hidden Killers for continuing coverage of both.

Savannah Guthrie Is NOT Asking For Her Mom Back Anymore Jul 30, 2026
    Show notes

There's a difference between asking someone to return your mother and asking someone to tell you where to find her. Savannah Guthrie crossed that line on July 27th. In a video posted to Instagram and addressed to whoever took Nancy Guthrie from her Tucson home, Savannah used language she's never used before. She offered empathy. She offered something close to forgiveness. And she stopped using the word "home" entirely.

This episode examines what Savannah actually said and what it means — line by line. It also explains the timing: within the same week, Crime Junkie read the first ransom note aloud on air for the first time, FBI Director Kash Patel publicly accused the Pima County Sheriff's Department of losing evidence by keeping federal agents out for four days, and the sheriff's office shot back. Two agencies fighting while an eighty-four-year-old woman's family sits in front of a camera begging for a location.
