Spooky Summer - Benjamin Silas Foster - It's Always Midnight in Kentucky

One of Jason's dearest friends, Ben Foster, joins Hi Strangeness to talk turkey. Folks, we know you like it weird. We know you like outsider art. It's in the intro...it's pretty darn cool. In this episode, Ben walks us through some examples of art being influenced by "the other". Jason and Ben will discuss several of these cases and (as always) riff on the mysterious and beautiful Kentucky!

Michael McMillian: Kansas Cryptid Bufffet Jul 16, 2026

Show notes

Well hello, good buddies! This week, we have everyone's favorite bigfoot collector, Michael McMillian back on the show! Michael and I ping pong through some well known, and obscure Kansas cryptid cases. Michael is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to weirdness in the sunflower state, and he surprised me with a handful of cases I'd never heard of. We're talking headless phantoms, giants bears, bigfoot, giant worms, wolf girls and so much more. If you haven't yet (what are you waiting for!?), go check out The Bigfoot Collector's Club Podcast. It's an absolute gem! Enjoy!

Timothy Renner - The Keystone Hagstone Jul 09, 2026

Show notes

Howdy there friends! This week, I'm psyched to bring on the great Timothy Renner! This has been a long time coming for me - I've referenced his work so many times on the show, and I'm just a huge fan of him and his incredible work. On this meeting, we discuss his new book THE KEYSTONE HAGSTONE, and folks, this book is a banger! Holy smokes I just could not have loved it anymore. If faeries, gnomes, witches (and so much more) are your thing (it's definitely mine!) then this is the episode for you. I had an absolute blast with my new buddy...I have a feeling we will do this again. I could talk with him for hours. Thanks, and enjoy this episode!

Love, Steve

Seth Breedlove - Small Town Monsters Jun 25, 2026

Show notes

Hey there, friends. This week I'm psyched to have on Seth Breedlove! Seth is the creator of the incredible Small Town Monsters production company. I'm a big fan of the films and media they've released over the years. We get into all sort of good stuff -- his early filmmaking forays, what intrigues in these subjects, and he even shares some of his personal experiences. This was a super fun episode for me - enjoy!

Richard Estep: What's the Deal With Ghosts? Jun 11, 2026

Show notes

Hi friends - this week, Richard Estep is back on the show to chat about a lovely array of weird topics. I was lucky enough to meet up with Richard (IRL) in Council Bluffs at The Squirrell Cage Jail for an incredible conversation. This episode is kind of a continuation of our hang sesh, covering ghosts, metaphysical cryptids, UFOs and more. Richard is such a wonderful conversationalist, and one heck of a writer. I highly recommend his books! Enjoy!

Chris Lost and Scott Hartley: SUNEATERS May 07, 2026

Show notes

This week, our guests are Chris Lost and Scott Hartley from the wonderful indie rock band, Suneaters. We explore the freedom of art, the deeper ideas of music, and stories of meeting William S. Burroughs. This was a fun departure for me from the usual Forteanna coverd on the show. Check out their new album “Heroic Dose”...so good!

Love, Steve
