This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Nehemiah Rebuilds the Wall. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Nehemiah 1-13. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Nehemiah who was a Jewish man who worked for Persian king Artaxerxes, the king of Babylon. Many of the Jews were sent to Babylon years before because they had disobeyed God and followed after other gods.
One day Nehemiah heard a report that the Jews who had returned to Judah were having a hard time and that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and the gates had been burned. This made Nehemiah sad. He didn’t eat any food for days and prayed to God for the Jews. He told God he was sorry for the wrong things he and his people had done. He reminded God of his promises and that God had said, “If you obey my commands, I will gather you together again.” Nehemiah asked for God to give him success as he went to ask the king for help.
Nehemiah then went to do his job for the king. The king asked why Nehemiah was sad, so Nehemiah told the king about his people in Judah. Nehemiah prayed and told the king he wanted to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. He asked for letters from the king that would help him travel safely to Jerusalem and get the supplies he needed to rebuild the city. God helped Nehemiah and the king gave Nehemiah all he asked for.
Nehemiah went to Jerusalem and checked out the walls. He went to the people and said, “Come on. Let’s rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.” And the people agreed and started that good work.
Meanwhile, there were some officials from nearby lands who heard Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall and were upset. They laughed at the Jews and made fun of them. But Nehemiah said, “The God of heaven will give us success. We serve him.” Many Jews worked together to rebuild the wall including the priests, men who worked with gold, a man who made perfume, leaders from nearby villages, servants, guards, traders, and daughters as well. All the people worked with all their hearts.
The officials from other lands planned to fight the Jews. But the Jews prayed to God and put guards on duty day and night. Nehemiah stationed people to defend the city where it was weak. From that day on, half of the people did the work with swords at their sides, and the other half were armed to defend the people working and the city. Nehemiah reminded them, “Our God will fight for us!”
They worked from sunrise until the stars came out. The people in the city were being treated wrongly and this made Nehemiah very angry. He helped the people in the city get food and the money they needed to live. He corrected the leaders who were not helping the people as they should. He told them, “What you are doing isn’t right.” The leaders promised to do the things the way Nehemiah said.
After 52 days, the city wall was finally finished! All of Judah’s enemies were afraid because they realized that God had helped finish the work. Jerusalem was large. It had a lot of room. But only a few people lived there. So God gave Nehemiah the idea to gather more people to come and live in Jerusalem now that the wall had been rebuilt, and many people returned home to Israel as God gathered his people together again.
A teacher of God’s law named Ezra came and read the Book of the Law to all the people who could understand. The Israelites admitted they had sinned, worshipped God, and promised to follow God’s commands. Nehemiah was the governor of Judah for twelve years, then he went back to his job with the king of Babylon.
Sometime later, Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem and found that some of the Israelites had not kept their promise to God. Nehemiah tried to set everything right and then he prayed to God saying, “You are my God. Please remember me with kindness.”

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Esther’s Request to the King. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Esther 3-5. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Esther who was Jewish orphan who lived in Persia during the reign of King Xerxes. Esther was adopted by her relative, Mordecai who worked in the palace of the king. Once Mordecai had even saved the king’s life. Esther became the queen of Persia, but no one knew that she was a Jew because Mordecai told her to keep it a secret.

This is Haman who was the second most powerful man in Persia. Haman hated Mordecai because Mordecai wouldn’t bow down to him. So Haman convinced King Xerxes to make a decree to kill all Mordecai’s people, the Jews.

When Mordecai learned about this, he was very upset as were all the Jews in Persia. When Queen Esther’s servants came and told her about how upset Mordecai was, she sent one of her servants, Hathach, to go to Mordecai and find out what was troubling him.

So Hathach went out to Mordecai and Mordecai told him of the plan to kill God’s people. Mordecai said that he wanted Esther to go to the king to ask for him to save the Jews. Esther knew that anyone who went to the king without being called could be put to death. But Mordecai reminded Esther that she may have been made queen for such a time as this.

So Esther asked for the Jews to pray for her and fast for three days. Then Esther put on her royal robes and went before the king.

When the King saw Esther, he was happy to see her and asked, “What do you want, Queen Esther? I will give it to you, even if it is half the kingdom!”

So Esther asked the king if he and Haman would come to a banquet that she had prepared for them and the king agreed. Esther held a banquet and then asked the king and Haman to come to a second banquet the next night. That night, the king was reminded of how Mordecai had once saved his life. King Xerxes decided that he must honor Mordecai and that Haman would help. Then at the second banquet, Esther told the king about the plot against her people. The king was angry and asked, “Who would do such a thing?” Esther said it was Haman and the king ordered Haman to be killed on that very night.

But the decree to kill all the Jews was still in place and the Jew’s were still in danger. So Mordecai asked the king to issue a new decree so that the Jews could defend themselves. The king did and the Jews defeated all their enemies. God’s people were saved and celebrated their great victory!

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Daniel in the Lions’ Den. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 6. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. Daniel loved God and followed God’s rules. He talked to God three times a day and asked God for help often. Daniel served in the Babylonian king’s court for many years and under many kings. Daniel always proved himself to be more capable than all the other court officials.

Daniel was serving under King Darius and because of his great abilities, the king made plans to place him in charge of the entire empire. The other court officials searched for some fault in Daniel, but they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He was faithful, responsible and completely trustworthy.

The court officials realized the only way to get at Daniel would be to challenge his faith. So they went to King Darius and advised him to make a law that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone except king Darius will be thrown into the lion’s den. King Darius signed this law and once a Babylonian king signed a law, it could not be overruled.

When Daniel learned of this law, he went home and knelt down as he always did to pray in his room with the windows open towards Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he always had done, giving thanks to God and asking for His help.

The officials went to Daniel’s house and found him praying. They went to the king and reminded him of the law. Then they said that Daniel had been found praying to God three times a day. When the king heard this, he was very upset and he spent the whole day trying to think of a way to save Daniel. By that evening the court officials came back to the king and reminded him that no law signed by the Babylonian king could be overruled.

So at last, the king gave orders for Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve faithfully, rescue you.” Then the lion’s den was sealed shut with Daniel inside. The king spent the night fasting and couldn’t sleep. Then very early in the morning, the king hurried to the lion’s den. He called out, “Daniel! Was your God able to rescue you from the lions?”

And Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight.”

The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be taken out of the lion’s den. Then the king ordered the men who had schemed against Daniel to be thrown in the lion’s den as punishment. Daniel was safe, there was not a scratch on him, for he trusted in God.

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of The Fiery Furnace . We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 3. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

There once were three Jewish men named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When they were very young, they were taken from Israel to live in a place called Babylon. At that time the king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar and he made a gold statue that was ninety feet tall. The king sent a message for everyone to come to the dedication of his statue. When everyone had assembled, it was declared that people of all races, nations, languages would bow before the statue and worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue when they heard the sound of musical instruments. If anyone refused, they would be thrown into a fiery furnace.

So at the sound of the musical instruments, all the people bowed to the ground and worshipped. But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not because they were Jewish and would only bow to the one, true God. Some of the wise men of Babylon went to the king and told him that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the statue. This made the king very angry and he asked Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego if it was true that they would not bow to the statue. Then he said that he would give them one more chance to bow down, and if they did not bow they would be thrown into the fire.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied that they didn’t need to defend themselves against the king. They said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

The king was so angry with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that he commanded the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual. Then he ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be bound and thrown in the fire. The fire was so hot that it killed the soldiers that threw them in. So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego fell into the flames.

But suddenly, the king jumped up and said to his advisors, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them in the furnace?”

The advisors said yes, but the king said, “Look! I see four men walking around the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!” Then the king shouted to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, “Come out!”

So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire and everyone saw that the fire had not touched them, they didn’t even smell of smoke. Then Nebuchadnezzar praised the one, true God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who had rescued them from the fire. And the king made a new command that anyone who spoke a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would be greatly punished. Then he promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in his court. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted in God and were willing to die rather than worship any god but their own God.

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 2. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. Daniel served in the king’s service as a wise man. The king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar, and one night he had such disturbing dream that he couldn’t sleep. He called in some of the wise men of his kingdom and demanded that they tell him what he had dreamed. The wise men said, “Tell us the dream and we will tell you what it means.”

But the king told them that they must tell him what the dream was and what it meant. If they did, they would be rewarded, but if they didn’t they would be severely punished.

The wise men asked again for the king to tell them what the dream was and then they would tell him what it meant. But the king wanted them to tell him what the dream was.

The wise men said that the king’s request was impossible and that no one except the gods can tell someone a dream. The king was furious when he heard this and ordered that all the wise men of Babylon be killed. Because of the king’s decree, men were sent to find and kill Daniel and his friends.

When the men arrived, Daniel asked why the king had ordered such a thing. The men told Daniel what happened with the king’s dream and Daniel went at once to the king to ask for time to tell the king what his dream meant. Then Daniel told his friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - to pray to God to show them the secret of the king’s dream.

That night, God showed Daniel secret of the dream in a vision. Daniel praised God for this and then was taken to the king. Daniel said, “There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune-tellers who can reveal the king’s secret. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.” And so Daniel told the king what his dream was and what it meant.

The king bowed before Daniel and praised him. The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, a revealer of mysteries for you have been able to reveal this secret.” Then the king promoted Daniel to be the chief of all the wise men and also promoted his friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - in the king’s court.

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Daniel in Nebuchadnezzar’s Court. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 1. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. The king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar, and he ordered Ashpenaz, his chief of staff, to bring some of the young men of Judah who were strong, healthy, and good looking to the palace. He wanted these men to be smart, and they would be trained for three years in the language and books of Babylon so they could serve the king. The king also ordered that they would be given food and drink from his own kitchens daily.

Daniel and his three friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - were four of the young men chosen from the tribe of Judah to enter the king’s training. But Daniel chose not to eat the food and drink given by the king because it was food that God had told his people not to eat. Daniel asked Ashpenaz for permission to not eat this food. Ashpenaz liked Daniel, but he told him that he was afraid that if Daniel didn’t eat the food that the king ordered, that he would become weak compared to the other young men, and that would get Ashpenaz in trouble with the king.

Daniel asked his attendant if he and his three friends could eat a diet of only vegetables and water for ten days and then be tested to see how they compared to the other young men. The attendant agreed.

At the end of ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the king’s food. So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and drink provided for the others.

God gave these four young men wisdom and a special understanding for things. God gave Daniel the ability to interpret visions and dreams. When the three years of training was over, all the young men were brought before the king, but no one impressed the king as much as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So the four men entered the king’s service and whenever the king asked them about something, he found them more capable than any of the other wise men in his kingdom.

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Josiah. We referenced the following Biblical passages: 2 Kings 22. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Josiah. Josiah became king of Israel when he was only 8 years old!

Now the country of Israel had a very long line of kings who did many bad things, including Josiah’s father and grandfather. These kings did not follow after God and they ignored His commandments and His law.

But when Josiah became king, he did what God wanted him too and followed the example of King David.

Eighteen years after Josiah became king, he sent one of his court secretary, Shaphan, to God’s temple. Many of the kings before Josiah did not take good care of God’s house, so it was in need of repair.

While they were in the temple, Hikiah the high priest said to Shaphan, “I have found the book of the law in the Lord’s Temple!”

So Shaphan took the scroll back to king Josiah and read it to him. When Josiah heard what was in the book, he was greatly upset because the people of Israel were not doing the things that God asked them to do, and Josiah knew that God must be angry with Israel for not obeying his commandments.

Josiah gathered together all the people of Israel to the temple and read the entire book of the covenant to them. That very day Josiah and all the people promised that they would obey all of what God commanded with all their hearts and souls.

Josiah went on to help Israel become a people fully committed to God. He tore down all of the other temples and the idols that they had set up. He got rid of all the people who were doing bad things all throughout Israel. And he did all that was commanded in God’s book.

Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Jonah. Jonah was a prophet. That means it was his job to tell people what God told him to say. One day, God told Jonah to go to Nineveh because the people of Nineveh were doing bad things.

But instead, Jonah ran away and went to the port to board a ship going the other way. He was hoping to get away from God.

He sailed for a place called Tarshish. While he was at sea, God sent a great and powerful wind over the sea that caused a storm that seemed like it would break the ship apart. Fearing for their lives, the sailors tried everything they could think of to save the ship.

Meanwhile, Jonah was sound asleep. So the captain went down and said, “How can you sleep at a time like this? Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will help us!”

Then the crew figured out that Jonah was the reason for the storm and they asked him, “Who are you? Why is this happening to us?”

Jonah told them who he was and that he worshipped the one true God who made the sea. Then he told the sailors to throw him in the sea so the storm would stop.

The sailors still tried to escape the storm, but it was no use. So they asked God for forgiveness and threw Jonah into the sea. The storm stopped at once. The sailors were amazed at God’s power and they vowed to serve Him.

Now God sent a great fish to swallow Jonah and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and nights. Jonah prayed to God from inside the fish and God ordered the fish to spit Jonah out.

God told Jonah again to go to the city of Nineveh and tell them what God had said about them. This time Jonah obeyed God and went to Nineveh to deliver God’s message. The people of Nineveh stopped doing bad things and turned to God. They were saved because they listened to the message that God had given Jonah.

This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Jehoshaphat. We referenced the following Biblical passages: 2 Chronicles 20. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Jehoshaphat who was one of the kings of Judah. He was a good king who strengthened Judah and did what was right in God’s eyes. He obeyed God’s commandments and God was with him. There were other countries around Judah who wanted to wage war on Judah though. And one day messengers came to Jehoshaphat and said that the armies of three kingdoms were marching towards Judah.

Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged God for guidance. He told everyone in Judah to start fasting. People from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek God’s help.

Jehoshaphat stood before all the people and prayed to God. He asked for God’s help saying, “O Lord, God of our ancestors. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!”

He told God of the things God had done for Israel before and asked Him to stop the armies that were coming for them. He said, “We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”

All the men of Judah stood before God with their wives and children. The spirit of God came upon one of the men who was standing there and he said, “Listen all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” He told them that tomorrow they would march out against the armies, but they would not need to fight for God would be with them! Then King Jehoshaphat and all of the people of Israel worshipped God.

The next morning the army of Judah went out to battle. Jehoshaphat said to them, “Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm!” Jehoshaphat sent the singers to walk ahead of the army and they praised God as they led the army.

At the very moment they started praising God, God caused the armies of the other kingdoms to start fighting among themselves. So when the army of Judah came to overlook the battlefield, the enemy was defeated and not a single one of them had escaped.

The army of Judah went and gathered the valuables from the valley and there was so much that it took them three days to collect it all. They praised and thanked God who had given them victory! Then they marched into Jerusalem praising God who had defeated the armies of their enemies and the kingdom of Judah was at peace.
