    Homily | June 13, 2026 | Mary’s Immaculate Heart | (Episode 158) Jun 13, 2026
    Show notes

We reflect on why the Church honors the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary back to back, showing God’s love as the source and Mary’s surrender as the response. We lean on Luke’s line that Mary “kept all these things in her heart” to learn silence, trust, and what to do when we do not understand God’s plan.
    • the Sacred Heart revealing God’s love for humanity
    • the Immaculate Heart showing a human life fully receiving that love
    • Mary as a woman of contemplation and interior silence
    • learning to listen to God instead of filling every moment with noise
    • faith as trust without having every answer
    • bringing anxiety and uncertainty into prayerful surrender
    • the closing question of how much room our hearts give God

Homily | June 12, 2026 | The Sacred Heart And The God Who Chases Us | (Episode 157) Jun 12, 2026
    Show notes

We celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the clearest picture of who God is and how God loves, not as a distant idea but as mercy that moves toward us first. We trace Scripture and the Gospel invitation to rest, then connect that personal healing to a wider call for consecration and hope.
    • the Sacred Heart as the center of Christ’s love, mercy and compassion
    • God’s choice rooted in love rather than merit
    • the truth that God loves first and love makes us good
    • the cross, Eucharist and confession as ongoing proof of pursuit
    • Jesus’ invitation to the weary and burdened without prerequisites
    • “meek and humble of heart” as Jesus’ self-revelation
    • consecration as belonging to Christ above politics, ideology and power
    • bringing wounds, fears and the nation into a heart that never stops loving

Homily | June 11, 2026 | Barnabas And The Higher Bar Of Christian Maturity | (Episode 156) Jun 11, 2026
    Show notes

If you have ever thought, “I’m not doing anything terrible, so I must be doing fine,” Jesus disagrees, and he does it in a way that can feel both challenging and strangely freeing. We dig into a powerful contrast: Christianity is not simply avoiding sin or keeping your hands clean. It is the presence of Christ in a life that has actually been changed from the inside out.
We spend time with Barnabas, one of the most important and most overlooked figures in the New Testament. Scripture describes him with a line worth aiming for: a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith. Barnabas walks into Antioch, sees grace at work, and chooses encouragement. That choice is not sentimental; it is a real ministry that builds people, strengthens wavering faith, and helps the Church grow. We also look at what makes him a great leader: he refuses to make it about himself, seeks out Saul, and shares the mission because the Kingdom matters more than personal credit.
Then we connect it to the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus raises righteousness from outward compliance to the human heart. Avoiding murder is not the finish line; confronting anger is. Looking religious is not enough; seeking reconciliation is. We talk about resentment as poison, forgiveness as freedom, and why refusing bitterness is not pretending wrong did not happen but refusing to let it win. If you want a more honest, more mature Christian life, start here: become the kind of person who brings life into the room.

    Homily | June 10, 2026 | Choose Your God | (Episode 155) Jun 10, 2026
    Show notes

We confront the hidden danger of spiritual indecision and the temptation to serve God while still clinging to modern idols. We walk through Elijah on Mount Carmel and Jesus’ teaching on the commandments to show why renewal starts when we rebuild the altar and put God first again.
    • spiritual danger of trying to live divided between God and the world
    • Elijah’s question on Mount Carmel and the silence it exposes
    • modern idols like success, comfort, approval, and control
    • the contrast between empty frenzy and simple prayer that trusts God
    • rebuilding the broken altar before asking for spiritual fire
    • Jesus fulfilling the law and linking love with obedience
    • idols promising freedom but producing slavery
    • two practical questions for discernment and change

    Homily | June 9, 2026 | Faith Over Fear | (Episode 154) Jun 09, 2026
    Show notes

We sit with God’s steady command “do not be afraid” and watch how faith begins when we act before we see the outcome. We connect the widow’s costly trust with Jesus’ call to be salt and light, then ask what it means to stop hiding and start showing up for others.
    • God’s repeated command “do not be afraid” in moments of scarcity
    • Elijah meeting the widow during famine and naming her despair
    • trusting before the miracle and taking the next step without the full staircase
    • giving out of poverty and watching fear give way to faith
    • baptismal identity as salt of the earth and light of the world
    • the danger of becoming spiritually bland or hiding faith in daily choices
    • letting God work through us for someone who needs light right now
    • the saints changing the world through availability, not power
So today ask yourself two questions. Where is God asking me to trust him more deeply? And where is God asking me to be light for someone else?

    • Flannery O’Connor’s line that cuts through vague belief
    • the Real Presence as the center of Catholic faith and worship
    • martyrs of Abitinae and why no one dies for a metaphor

    • Carlo Acutis and Eucharistic miracles as faith awakeners

    Homily | June 8, 2026 | God’s Providence In Unexpected Places | (Episode 152) Jun 08, 2026
    Show notes

We name the question almost everyone carries at some point: is God really taking care of me when life feels uncertain and prayers feel unanswered. We connect Elijah’s ravens and Jesus’ Beatitudes to show how God provides in unexpected ways and then uses that trust to form us into people who look more like Christ.
    • the fear behind common life pressures like health, finances, family struggles, and silence in prayer
    • Elijah’s isolation after confronting Ahab and the realism of having no visible support
    • God’s providence through ravens and why God’s help often breaks our expectations
    • noticing “ravens” in our own story through opened doors, timely relationships, protection, and daily provision
    • the Beatitudes as Jesus’ definition of blessedness rather than the world’s definition of happiness
    • the Beatitudes as a portrait of Christ rather than a set of rules
    • why saints become saints by living the Beatitudes in ordinary faithfulness
    • two reflection questions: where God has provided unexpectedly and which Beatitude needs growth now

Flannery O’Connor’s blunt line about the Eucharist forces us to face the central claim of Corpus Christi without hiding behind polite language. We ask whether the Eucharist is truly Jesus Christ and what it costs to stay when faith feels hard.
    • Flannery O’Connor’s challenge to symbolic Christianity
    • the real question of Corpus Christi: is it really him
    • why a purely symbolic Eucharist makes worship expendable
    • John 6 as the backbone for Catholic Eucharistic belief
    • Jesus letting disciples leave rather than dilute the truth
    • Peter’s answer as a model of trust without full understanding
    • Christ’s desire to remain near us through the Blessed Sacrament
    • the Eucharist as presence in suffering, loneliness, and doubt

    Show notes

Fr. Alonso Yap - Homily (En Español)
We reflect on why Corpus Christi celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, not a past event but a living truth of faith. We connect the meaning of “memorial” to the Holy Mass and ask for the kind of transformation that turns Communion into daily service.
    • Corpus Christi as a feast of faith in the Eucharist
    • Jesus’ words at the Last Supper as a claim of reality
    • “Memorial” as making Christ’s sacrifice present
    • The Mass as an encounter with saving power today
    • A child’s First Communion question raised to Pope Benedict XVI
    • Praying to leave the Eucharist changed and renewed
    • Listening to the Word with concrete weekly intentions
    • Receiving Communion with a clean heart and growing in adoration
    • The Eucharist as a call to serve the hungry and suffering
    • The martyrs’ witness that life without the Eucharist collapses
