In what sounds like history's most congested podcast episode, our sneezing host Hawk delivers the latest on Florida's Senate race, where former Medicare-fraud champion turned Senator Rick Scott is facing off against Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Apparently, Rick Scott spent $160 million of his own money to win three elections by razor-thin margins, which Hawk suggests might be a sign of mental illness - hey, at least he's creating jobs in the campaign advertising industry!

Between sneezes and allergy attacks, Hawk explains how Scott - a man who literally banned the phrase "climate change" from government documents in a state that's basically one hurricane away from becoming Atlantis - is now trailing in polls against Mucarsel-Powell. The highlight of her campaign? A 75-stop bus tour across Florida - one stop for each time Rick Scott pleaded the Fifth Amendment when questioned about that teeny-tiny Medicare fraud situation. Talk about creative campaign messaging!

Finally, Hawk manages to explain through his histamine crisis why Trump won't be able to steal the 2024 election, largely because he's no longer in charge of, well, anything. The episode wraps up with a tale of "Peggy Chud" and "Tom Chud" (not their real names, but close enough) in Arizona, who found out the hard way that refusing to certify election results because your candidate lost is, surprisingly, illegal. Texas Trey - Ex Trump Supporter Turned Democrat Sep 03, 2024

Hawk sits down with Texas Trey, a reformed Republican who traded his MAGA hat for a Biden button faster than you can say "covfefe." Because nothing says "democracy" like obsessively refreshing a government website to see if the Republicans have voided your voter registration simply because you don't vote for them, right?

White Christian Nationalism - Part 4 Jun 15, 2024

You're gonna need a hot shower with an abrasive loofah sponge after listening to this one. It's another wild ride with Hawk as he continues to delve into the twisted minds of far-right Christian nationalists hellbent on establishing a real-life Gilead (not the land of milk and honey one, rather the one where everyone is evil). First up is Russell Vaught, a "battle-tested bureaucrat" who wants to turn the presidency into an absolute dictatorship if Trump gets re-elected. With his "radical constitutionalism" agenda, Vaught dreams of mass deportations, criminalizing abortion nationwide, and unleashing the military on American soil to crush dissent. What a sweetheart.

But wait, there's more! We also meet the Society for American Civic Renewal (SACR for short), a creepy men's club that wants to create a patriarchal Christian ethnostate. Their goals include expelling non-Christians, stripping LGBTQ rights, and reviving feudalism à la apartheid South Africa. And it's all run by a shampoo mogul calling himself the "Maximum Leader" from his poetically named "Howdy Doody Good Times Foundation." You can't make this stuff up! First a pillow guy and now a shampoo guy? What's next, the truck nuts guy?

In the end, Hawk is left feeling spiritually polluted after diving down this unsettling rabbit hole of white Christian extremism. At least these wackos provide unintentional comic relief amidst their chilling authoritarianism and hate-filled bigotry. It's both hilarious and terrifying how these wealthy radicals are dead serious about their unhinged fantasies of religious ethnic cleansing.

Trump Criminal Trial Preview Apr 13, 2024

Hawk covers the upcoming criminal trial of former President Donald Trump, which is set to begin on Monday April 15, 2024 in Manhattan. White Christian Nationalism - Part 3 Apr 03, 2024

5th Circuit Court of Appeals Jan 13, 2024

Discussion includes the 5th circuit court of appeals covers Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi and the district courts within the 5th circuit, how things are structured, the responsibilities of each court and how appeals work with circuit courts.

The 5th circuit is one of the most conservative circuit courts in the country. Of the 17 active judges only 2 were appointed by democrats and 6 of them were appointed by Donald Trump. There are 9 senior judges that have a large body of experience that basically work 1/2 time and have not yet retired. The only court that is above the circuit courts is the United States Supreme Court.

Hawk specifically discusses a court within the 5th circuit containing around 20-30 counties in North Texas. Of interest is a case that is pending with the US Supreme Court Securities and Exchange Comission v. Jarkesy which came from an appellate decision that was written in the 5th circuit (link below):

This case has the potential to gut the regulation and enforcement capacities of departments and agencies within the Executive Branch of United States Government. This could create a level of havoc in the United States by rendering parts of the Executive Branch toothless. Republicans love this because they hate regulation and government.

Project 2025 is a plan to reshape the executive branch of the U.S. federal government in the event of a Republican victory in the2024 U.S. presidential election. Established in 2022, the project seeks to recruit tens of thousands of conservatives toWashington, D.C., to replace existing federal civil service workers it characterizes as the "deep state", to further the objectives of the next Republican president. Although participants in the project cannot promote a specific presidential candidate, many have close ties toDonald Trump and theTrump 2024 presidential campaign. The plan would perform a swift takeover of the entire executive branch under a maximalist version of the unitary executive theory— a theory proposing the president of the United States has absolute power over the executive branch upon inauguration.

The development of the plan is led by the Heritage Foundation, an American conservative think tank, in collaboration with some eighty partners including Turning Point USA led by Charlie Kirk; the Conservative Partnership Institute including former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows as senior partner; the Center for Renewing America led by former Trump-appointee Office of Management and Budget director Russell Vought; and America First Legal led by former Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller.
