057 - The 5-step business process we use all the time Sep 24, 2020
    Show notes

For years we didn't have a process to help us understand the most important things to focus on in our businesses. We would jump from working on the product, to marketing, then to our ideal customer avatar, then think about our email content strategy, and it was just a hot mess (maybe you can relate??)

Last year, we finally sat down and wrote out a process that could help us and YOU work on your business in a specific order that made the most sense. This became our 5-Step Business Checklist and we break it down in detail in this podcast episode - WOOT!

You can see the checklist in action on our site: wanderingaimfully.com/checklist

    056 - Shit sandwiches Sep 17, 2020
    Show notes

Mark Manson wrote a quote that we learned about from Liz Gilbert in her book, Big Magic. The quote is, “everything sucks, some of the time. You just have to decide what sort of suckage you’re willing to deal with. The question is not so much “what are you passionate about?” The real question is "what are you passionate enough about that you can endure the most disagreeable aspects of the work?”

In this episode, we're going to dive deep into what it means to have to eat a shit sandwich. Because, as you'll hear, we all have to eat these awful sandwiches in our businesses and lives, no matter what.

055 - What brings you purpose every day? Sep 10, 2020
    Show notes

If you're like us, you can find yourself feeling stuck in the daily slog of work. But what if you reframed the work you were doing? What if you asked yourself during every task... what is it all for? Could the majority of the work you do become less of a burden and more of a purpose in your life?

In this episode, we explore the idea of purpose when it comes to work. Is it important? Is it different for everyone (spoiler: YES)? We also navigate the idea of retirement and how we think about the concept of it when you work for yourself.

Are we too consumed by our work? Could having a purpose make us feel more in control? Let's find out in this ep!

054 - How have our fears changed over time? Sep 03, 2020
    Show notes

From working with clients, to selling our first digital products, to running software companies, and then building a membership community, we've experienced all sorts of fears along the way. This week, we wanted to share our fears with you in case you're on a similar part of your journey and want to hear how we dealt with the bumps in the road you might be experiencing too.

Imposter syndrome and self-doubt are real, folks. There's no amount of hustle, hard work, or previous success that can help you avoid thinking negative thoughts.

We also touch on our biggest personal fears toward the end of the episode as well as what we fear most about the other person (get ready for a LOL or two!)

053 - Should you switch from product launches to a membership? Aug 27, 2020
    Show notes

As online business owners, we tend to think the grass is always greener. Specifically for this episode, we want to talk about the green-ness of the grass when it comes to product launches (online courses, ebooks, etc) versus running a membership program (a community with monthly payments).

We've spent the past decade selling things in all different kinds of formats and we're here to share EVERYTHING we've learned as well as which direction you should go if you're on the fence.

We'll talk about why we shifted our business to a membership community, the ups and downs of it, what you need to look out for, and our "Prius" (hybrid) model we're using moving forward with Wandering Aimfully.

052 - Do we need social media? Aug 20, 2020
    Show notes

We've been heavy social media users since Jason ran his IWearYourShirt project all the way back in 2008 (which is basically an entirely different millennium in the Internet age). Since that time we've realized the negative toll being on social media can take.

In this episode, we explore if we're going to continue using social media at all moving forward. We also share our thoughts on if social media makes sense for new online business owners or existing biz owners who might be wondering... what is it all for? when it comes to social media.

So, let's answer the question (or try to): Do we need social media?

051 - Announcing: What is it all for? (new show name!) Aug 12, 2020
    Show notes

After two years of recording our podcast as "Wandering Aimfully: The Show" we've decided to switch gears a bit on the name and the focus.

In this episode, we share our journey with this podcast and discuss what the new name (What is it all for?) means.

Every week on Thursdays we hope to visit your earballs with an honest, thoughtful, and maybe even sometimes uncomfortable conversation about what's going on in our lives (which might also be going on in your life too!) The goal with this podcast is not for us to pretend to be two people living perfect lives, but two people navigating their way through life, bumping into the walls, and learning tons of lessons along the way. #curiositycorner

We hope you enjoy this first episode of the new direction of our show! If you have any feedback, shoot us an email hello@wanderingaimfully.com.

Changes are afoot... Jul 29, 2020
    Show notes

We've thoroughly enjoyed wandering aimfully through the past 50 episodes of this podcast. There was no real plan with our show other than to share how we bumped into the walls of business and life.

After two years, we're excited for a NEW chapter of our podcast! While, the crux of the podcast will be the same (it's just us, Caroline and Jason Zook), we feel there's a better name for this podcast and a more focused idea for the content we'll bring to your ears each week. More on that on August 17!

We want to thank you for being part of the first "phase" of this podcast/show. Here's to a new chapter!

We scrapped part of our big launch... May 28, 2020
    Show notes

Whenever you're doing a launch for a product you typically have multiple ideas and plans. For us, we had ONE specific plan that involved something way more hands-on and a ton of extra effort (YouTube Live, promotion, etc). We decided to completely scrap 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♂️ that part of our launch plan to keep our sanity.

We spent some time talking about 👀SALES FUNNELS 👀 and how we're rethinking these for our own businesses. The subtle reframing to 🌉MARKETING BRIDGES 🌉should help us not get bogged down with negative thoughts about selling, as that even happens to us. Sales funnels/marketing bridges ARE essential to running efficient online businesses and they don't have to feel gross or sleazy.

👋 Our hope in sharing this series is that it a) makes YOU feel a little less alone in the worries or questions you have through all of this and b) it gives you some ideas or inspiration about how to make decisions in your own life and business that will help keep you afloat as we surf this tidal waves of uncertainty.

If you're not ENJOYING your business, switch it up! May 21, 2020
    Show notes

If you're feeling in a bit of a rut or you haven't seen much movement with your biz lately, maybe it's time to SWITCH 👀 IT 👀 UP 👀. Doing something new can reinvigorate you and whatever part of your business you're working on.

Yes, we ALLLL want success to come to us faster but it doesn't happen just because you dream about it. For our own Wandering Aimfully business, we've tried tons of stuff in the past two years. If you want to read about all our experiments, what's worked, what hasn't, and how we've dealt with all the bumps along the road, go here.

Big shoutout to the new WAIM members joining us during our final enrollment period of our Un-Boring Group Coaching program this month! We're stoked to have so many new faces! 😍
