086 - The art of making it hard (LOL) Apr 29, 2021
    Show notes

Ahhh, “The Art of Making It Hard…” that age-old saying that no one has ever said before as it relates to business 😂.

Innuendos aside, the point of this week’s podcast episode is to share some advice that goes against all the growth hacking, overnight success, slippery funnel, etc talk. To share how we INTENTIONALLY make some things a bit more difficult for our customers/subscribers/followers. Why we like adding a bit of friction to make sure we know someone really wants to take the action we asked them to take (purchase, subscribe, or follow).

Also, we have a very lengthy discussion about the difference between a metaphor and an analogy. It goes as well as you’d expect from us!

Movies discussed this week: The Matrix and Vertical Limit 🔥💎

    085 - Life after COVID-19? Apr 22, 2021
    Show notes

We want to first acknowledge we know COVID-19 isn’t over. In some countries, cities, and states, cases are on the upswing and it’s scary.

As vaccines get a more widespread rollout there’s an underlying anxiety about returning to life as it was pre-March 2020. Going to restaurants, gathering with friends/family, etc etc. When will we all feel comfortable and will there ever be a moment of returning to normality?? (Spoiler alert: we don’t think so.)

In this week’s episode, we wanted to share how we’re feeling about the next coming months, the plans we’re making, and what our experience was like getting our first shot of the vaccine.

We don’t have many answers at all when it comes to COVID-19 but we hope this honest convo possibly helps you ease a few fears or questions you’ve been thinking about.

084 - Ignoring societal (and familial) pressures Apr 15, 2021
    Show notes

Whether it’s your job, buying a house, or starting a family, there are pressures from all angles on what you *should* be doing.

As we’ve learned over the years, pushing back against some (read: most) of these societal pressures can actually provide us a life we love. Sure, it may be hard to feel like the black sheep in our families and friend groups, but we enjoy knowing we’re living life on our terms and not based on the ideals created by other people.

We hope this episode gives you food for thought on some of those bigger decisions that you may be confronting in your life right now (or in the next few years).

    083 - Everything we've learned about paid memberships Apr 08, 2021
    Show notes

If you’ve been thinking about starting a paid membership community, boy-oh-boy do we have the podcast episode for YOU!

We break down everything we’ve learned these past three years growing our paid membership from nothing to a thriving business (with predictable income AND a wonderfully amazing group of humans).

Even if you aren’t thinking about starting a paid membership, hopefully, you’ll learn a thing or two you can apply to your business! Or… you can just hear us argue over calling you a cinnamon roller or LOL’er.

Here’s the accompanying in-depth article we wrote on starting and growing a paid membership: https://wanderingaimfully.com/memberships

Movies we discussed this week: Volcano and Jurassic Park 3 (“J3”)

082 - Setting boundaries and saying "no" Apr 01, 2021
    Show notes

In this week’s episode, we share how we’ve cultivated strong boundaries when it comes to our work. We also talk about a recent product that we got a lot of requests to sell but decided not to (a hard thing to say “no” to as a biz owner!)

Let’s talk about the importance of intentional decisions and how thinking a bit longer term can make future-you a LOT less stressed and burned out.

Also, movies this week: Rocky IV + The Net

Ps - if you enjoy this pod, leave us a rating and review! Thanks, Cinnamon Rollers (aka Cinnamon LOLers <~~ not really).

081 - Answering your (really great!) biz questions Mar 25, 2021
    Show notes

What season of business are we in right now? How do you gain confidence in your pricing? How do you balance client + digital product work? What advice have we've given that we'd change? Wait... Super Mario originated from the first Donkey Kong game???

A few weeks ago we asked our peeps in IG if they had any business questions for us… and they did! We answer a handful of those but we ALSO talk about our after-school rituals as kids (really, it’s what did you eat/watch after school growing up??). Let us know your childhood rituals @wanderingaimfully on IG or hello@wanderingaimfully.com.

The questions we answer in this episode:

    • What would we change about how we started our software product Teachery?
    • What season of business are we in right now?
    • Is there “popular” business advice we’ve given in the past or that’s given now that we would revise?
    • What skills do we admire in each other?
    • What IRKS do we have about each other??
    • Tips on balancing client and personal (side hustle) work?
    • What business metrics do we pay attention to?
    • How do you gain more confidence in your prices and what you charge?

For that last question, get ready to listen to Caroline have her mind blown about the origins of Super Mario (yep, it’ll make sense!)

080 - Kick perfectionism to the curb! Mar 18, 2021
    Show notes

If we've learned anything in all our time as online biz owners (and humans existing with other humans) it's that perfectionism DOES NOT SERVE US. Instead of perfection, we like to focus on completion and imperfect action.

Perfectionism affects us in many ways and in this episode we explore how we’ve navigated its evil clutches over the years.

From business perfectionism, like thinking something isn’t good enough to show other people, to life perfectionism, as is people-pleasing or avoiding difficult conversations, we explore a bunch of different topics in this imperfect episode! (See what we did there??)

Hope you enjoy it and feel free to send us a DM on IG or an email saying: I AM A COMPLETIONIST!

079 - How important are original ideas? Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

To succeed in business, does your idea have to be truly original? Do you have to come up with the most unique business concept ever? Or... has everything already been done? Let's discuss!

When it comes to ideas for business products or even your entire business, how much does originality matter?

In this episode, we chat about original ideas and the importance (or lack thereof?) of being completely original.

For anyone, like us, who suffers from imposter syndrome or self-doubt, hopefully, this episode will help you!

    078 - Let's talk MARKETING Mar 04, 2021
    Show notes

Marketing your online business can be confusing and overwhelming but our goal in this episode is to change your perspective on marketing AND give you concrete marketing ideas to try moving forward.

Marketing, marketing, marketing… merrily down the stream? No idea. Anyway, what even is marketing? How do you market and promote your creative biz?

In this episode, we share our Marketing Bridges 🌉 concept with you and then walk through nine marketing examples you can steal and use!

Read our in-depth article that shares more at wanderingaimfully.com/marketing

    077 - Okay, what's up with Clubhouse?? Feb 25, 2021
    Show notes

As with every episode of this podcast, we aim to dig deeper and ask the important questions when it comes to making decisions for your business (like using new social media apps or pivoting to other marketing channels).

The new hot social app is Clubhouse, a “drop-in audio” application where you can join active discussions (think: live podcasting or a panel at a conference). We talk about our first impressions of it and if it’s worth spending your time on.

Then, we go into a deeper discussion of if you should invest time in these new shiny objects (TikTok, IG Reels, etc) or if you should ignore them completely. And, of course, these are just our opinions and ideas, NO ONE has the *right* answer for you and your biz!
