Griffin Armament's Silencer Testing Standard™ Dec 12, 2022

In this episode, Evan and Austin discuss the research and implementation of a new sound suppressor testing standard to better enable consumers with dosing data. For previous decades, the standard has been to only show PEAK impulse decibel data. Griffin's new data continues to show peak decibel data, as that is the loudest part of the waveform, but also shows more details that will be of interest to consumers for years to come. This data includes:

• Peak dB sound pressure level reading.

• LAeq A-weighted Equivalent Continuous Sound Pressure Level (average A weighted dB sound pressure for the waveform over the defined time in milliseconds).

• Leq Unweighted Equivalent Continuous Sound Pressure Level (average unweighted dB sound pressure for the waveform over the defined time in milliseconds).

• Number of exposures with no protector worn, "warned" (how many gun shots would be safe to fire or be in the immediate vicinity of, daily and weekly, for an anticipating observer) applying to 95% of the exposed population.

POI Shift VS Accuracy Nov 30, 2022

In this episode, Evan and Austin discuss point of impact shift, describing what it is, it's importance, and how silencers may or may not affect your results. Griffin Armament tested their own POI shift and compared it to other popular brand names on three different rifles. These results helped bring to light the discussion of whether POI shift is or isn't as prominent as people think, and whether it determines how accurate a gun can shoot.
