Deric is a decorated combat veteran, husband, and father of seven children. He is also the founder of a personal coaching and accountability program called Battlefield Boardroom.

How to Speak the Languages of Love Feb 25, 2019
    Show notes

On today's podcast, we are talking about love languages.

This is a topic that Russ and Mika bring up quite a bit on this show, and it is based on a book called The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman.

In that book, Chapman proposes that each of us speaks our own love languages, and the secret to having long-lasting, healthy relationships is learning how to speak to your partner in their own language.

These ideas have informed Russ and Mika's relationship throughout their marriage, and even their relationships with their children.

On this week's episode, we'll be talking about what each of these languages are, what they mean, and how understanding them has made a tremendous difference in our lives.

The Blog Post Revisited Feb 18, 2019
    Show notes

On this week's episode, Russ and Mika have decided to revisit one of our very first episodes on this podcast.

We've been publishing Good to Be Home for almost a year now, and we have gained several new listeners along the way. This topic is such an important piece of Russ and Mika's lives, that they wanted to share it again it for those who haven't heard it yet because it informs so much of what we talk about on this show.

Several months ago, Mika chose to open up on her personal blog about something that most people don't feel comfortable talking about publicly. In 2012, she discovered that Russ was having an affair, and it nearly destroyed their marriage.

Soon afterward, she wrote a blog post called "We Saved Our Marriage", about how the two of them addressed this challenge, how they grew from it, and how they came out stronger on the other side.

This episode is the story of how Russ and Mika saved their marriage, what it felt like to share that story online, how people reacted to the story, and what the two of them have learned from that experience. We hope you enjoy.

In particular, they are addressing a question that they recently received from a listener: how do you hire and manage people in your business?

This is a complicated subject and one that a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with.

In this episode, you will hear about the three things that we focus on while hiring and managing our teams: Mission, Vision, and Values. You'll also hear about the specific processes that we follow when building and growing our teams.
