    Show notes

**Due to some issues during our recording session, parts of episodes #56 & #57 might be hard to hear. Sorry for the inconvenience, and we'll be back to normal soon!** If you've listened to Good To Be Home before, you know how passionate Russ and Mika are about date night - their weekly evenings out as a couple (ie: no kids) to catch up with each other and unwind.

But sometimes, despite how determined they are to keep up this practice, schedules just get too crazy and life gets in the way.

So what happens between those date nights? Or in the weeks they just can't find a free night together? In this episode, Russ and Mika run through some practical tips on how they stay connected, like working out together or going to church, as well as jump into some larger concepts like open communication about scheduling and laughing about parenting together.

    A Post Picklecon Review Jun 10, 2019

**Due to some issues during our recording session, parts of episodes #56 & #57 might be hard to hear. Sorry for the inconvenience, and we'll be back to normal soon!**

In today's episode, Russ and Mika are talking all things Picklecon 2019, Design Pickle's inaugural US conference for creative entrepreneurs in Scottsdale, Arizona last month. We'll hear from each of their perspectives: Russ on what it's like to create and run an event, and Mika who was a guest speaker and got to see it from more of an attendee role.

The theme of this year's event was "Profit. Automation. Scale." But Russ says Picklecon is not like most other conferences you may see people attending in your Instagram feeds, and talks about why Picklecon is focused more on personal development, as well as just business goals.

Russ and Mika are both avid conference attendees, traveling not only across the country but around the world for both personal and professional development events. We'll hear how they pick conferences, the value of both smaller, boutique events vs. larger, more broad events, and how growth comes from connecting with others in person, not from sitting behind a screen.

Russ Teaches Timeblocking Jun 03, 2019
    Show notes

Today's episode is all about managing time. So what is "Timeblocking?" As Russ describes it, it works like a budget does for money, and its all about breaking your time into categories.

Timeblocking helps a busy, ever changing schedule by not only incorporating time for meetings, appointments and events - but also building in time for more fluid tasks like creation, self care, and family.

This approach to scheduling not only helps Russ manage his business, but also helps Mika uses it for more home based tasks like balancing the girls schedules and dance classes.

Dealing With Negativity May 27, 2019
    Show notes

When it feels like so much of the current news cycle is heavy and negative, Russ and Mika are taking today's episode to talk about how they work through negativity, both on the inside and the outside.

You'll hear tips and tricks to dealing with negativity and harnessing your energy towards the positive, whether its reading less news like Russ, or incorporating meditation and other wellness strategies like Mika.

Negativity can be the smallness voice in your head telling you you're not good enough, or external factors like trolls on the internet. Both Russ and Mika talk in this episode about how they've dealt with haters on social media, and curating their own feeds and who they follow to promote positivity.

And what about negativity in relationships? When do you lean in to helping them become less negative, or leave to honor your own boundaries?

    Show notes

In today’s episode Mika breaks down her beauty routines with the girls while Russ is out of town. She shares her day looks, night looks, and everyday self-care systems.

As a busy mom, Mika’s schedule is always changing, and we’ll hear how she gets ready every morning; whether she’s heading straight to the gym, going to school with the girls or working in the office.

Besides make up and hair styles, Mika also dives into botox and fillers, whether she uses them and why.

Visualizing Your Goals With Vision Boards May 13, 2019
    Show notes

Today’s episode is a pretty straightforward look at vision boards: what they are, how to use them and how they visualize your goals

These vision boards aren’t just collages made from magazine cutouts, they’re manifestations of the life you want, and how you’re going to get there. Russ & Mika talk about some of the things they've added to their own boards, why material possessions are okay to throw on there, and how they use boards independently, and as a family unit.
