Not To Destroy But To Fulfill | Matthew 5:17-18 | Pastor Micah Stephens Jan 30, 2025

Show notes

In "Not To Destroy, But To Fulfill," Pastor Micah Stephens delves into Jesus's declaration from the Sermon on the Mount, setting the stage for forthcoming teachings in this series. He explains that Jesus's assertion of not abolishing but fulfilling the Law and the Prophets can be seen as an inaugural address to His kingdom's principles. This statement was perplexing to both Jews and Gentiles but for believers, it represents the completion of prophecy and the pathway to salvation, opening up new dimensions of faith and understanding.

Salty And Illuminated | Matthew 5:13-16 | Pastor Rob McCoy Jan 30, 2025

Show notes

In "Salty & Illuminated," Pastor Rob McCoy explores the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew, focusing on Jesus's metaphor of His followers as salt and light. He emphasizes that Jesus declares we already are these elements, not that we will become them. We are meant to be the moral preservative in society, challenging us: if we don't stand for righteousness, who will? As the light of the world, if we don't shine in dark places, who will? Pastor McCoy calls for believers to maintain their saltiness and let their light shine, serving as Christ's ambassadors by submitting to God's purpose, thereby exemplifying His transformative power through our lives.

Establish Your Heart | James 5:1-12 | Pastor James Crawford Jan 23, 2025

Show notes

In his ongoing series on the book of James, Pastor James Crawford reflects on life's end and our legacy in a sermon titled "Accountability and Eternity." He poses a critical question: if we don't believe in an afterlife accountability, why restrain ourselves from worldly gains? Crawford clarifies that wealth isn't inherently evil, but it can obstruct our path to heaven. He urges his congregation to live with an eternal perspective, focusing on accumulating treasures in heaven rather than on earth.

The Dangers Of Pride | James 4:1-17 | Pastor James Crawford Jan 22, 2025

Show notes

In his series on the book of James, Pastor James Crawford delivers a sermon titled "Prayer's True Purpose," where he defines prayer not as persuading a hesitant God, but as aligning our intentions with His divine plan. He calls for a shift in perspective, explaining that harboring hate is akin to murder, and lusting after someone not your spouse is adultery, emphasizing that God's standards far exceed ours. The uplifting message is that by humbling ourselves and adopting God's viewpoint, we open ourselves up to His grace.

Your Words Have Weight | James 3:1-12 | Pastor James Crawford Jan 21, 2025

Show notes

In "Your Words Have Weight," Pastor James Crawford delves deeper into the book of James, highlighting the profound impact of our words in a world where they are often taken lightly. He draws a parallel between Jesus, known as the Word of God, and our responsibility to use our words constructively, not destructively. Crawford reminds us that God spoke creation into existence, underscoring the power of words to shape realities. He warns that words can be as lethal as weapons, urging Christians to speak with intention and integrity, as our speech reflects the truth of our faith to a watching world.
