Dear Momma with Coach Gessie Jan 27, 2022
    Show notes

It's our winter finale episode, and we're closing out this season on a real note. In this conversation, we dive into some deep territory, talking about family planning, dealing with that other F word (fertility), and WHY doctors still don’t believe Black women when we say we’re in pain. We're all in different places in our own journeys and so we're asking – is motherhood for us? Has this everlasting Panda Express changed our views on parenting or shifted the way we thought about how our own parents did it? And if we do decide to build a family, who do we trust to do it with? With our special guest this week, fibroids & infertility survivor turned Nutritionist, Coach Gessie, we navigate the sometimes confusing, often overwhelming questions that come when talking about our reproductive health and she tells us why we should always listen to your B.A.E. – no, not that one! B.A.E: Bodies, Advocates and Experts. Tune in for an end-of-season word and don't forget to rate us 5 stars and subscribe so y'all know when to catch us when we're back!

The Category Is Body ft.Tiffany Haddish Jan 13, 2022
    Show notes

And just like that, it's 2022! As we set intentions, resolutions, and healthy eating habits let's talk BODY- ODY- ODY. From who gets to talk about Black women's bodies, body dysmorphia, and modification with the BBL boom, to why the scale is shadier than a Drake interlude.

To add more heat to the conversation and take the vibrations even higher, we have the incredibly talented and funny Tiffany Haddish. Tiffany is READY, we repeat......READDDYYYYY. Tiffany shares the true definition of ownership of mind, body, and soul as she embarks on a new initiative to enrich OUR community and continues making an impact through her She Ready Foundation. Tiffany also shares with us how she gives herself grace, exciting new projects, why we all need to be farming, and where all the good men are hiding.

Why Do Things Cost Money? ft. Lauren Simmons Dec 30, 2021
    Show notes

Alright y’all, we made it! As we enter 2022 - striving to stay healthy, create vision boards, or just keep it together, we got a quick question: we know this year may have bent our spirits, but did we break the bank this year too?? That’s right, let's talk about MONEY. From student loans to reparations, we got a lot to go off about, so let’s level up those resolutions with a deep conversation around how we handle money, our relationship with it and building financial freedom for the future. Then, we asked a true money boss, Lauren Simmons, AKA the youngest female trader and only the second Black trader on the New York Stock Exchange, to join the roundtable and help us navigate conversations around money and share her tips to kick-start our financial goals. Hint: You’re gonna need a pen and a paper, 30 days, and maybe a lock on that debit card.

    Show notes

It's officially the holiday season! As we gear up for food, fellowship and family this year, let’s check-in real quick. What will festivities look like this year? How are we feeling about this holiday season? Are we buying gifts or nah?

On the roundtable this week, we have our Unbothered Creative Advisor, THEE award-winning actress, television personality and singer (there is nothing she can't do) - Keke Palmer. The Go Off, Sis crew shares some of their "favorite tings" (not "things," because Aunty O does not play). We listened to your questions and shared some holiday advice, but also tune in to guess the Palmer family mac and cheese recipe.

The Real Tea on Reality TV ft. Porsha Williams Dec 02, 2021
    Show notes

Let's face it, Black women own pop culture, and reality TV. And for Black women on reality TV, we ask "what is the physical and mental cost to be the boss?" As more Black women ascend to reality TV stardom, let’s have a conversation about the perception of us on screen, the stigmas attached, who deserves their flowers and who needs a bigger check. To add to the discussion, we have a very special guest that you do NOT want to miss! Yes, your favorite Georgia Peach - entrepreneur, personality and BFF (in your head) and now author, Porsha Williams. We discuss her journey on the Real Housewives of Atlanta and she shares an authentic lens of who she is today through her new book, The Pursuit of Porsha.

Hit That Note BUT Secure The Bag Nov 18, 2021
    Show notes

It's no secret that Black women are doing the damn thing in music, PERIOD. We are in a time where your daily playlist might include Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Chloe Bailey, Baby Tate, Normani and Flo Milli to name a few. As we close the gap within an industry that has been hard to navigate for us, we are taking ownership and diversifying the bag. The rise of Black women has also played a vital role in providing us with beautiful soundtracks of authentic stories that hold us together. But we also have a few questions: are they getting the proper credit, who deserves their flowers NOW and who signed off on Whitney Houston's hologram, because we know it wasn't her.

Don’t Play With Black Twitter ft. Sasheer Zamata Nov 11, 2021
    Show notes

Black Twitter...That’s the whole tweet. In this episode, we're diving into social media, accountability, and why cancel culture just isn't giving what it's supposed to give. How do we make sure Black creators are getting credit for their work AND hold others accountable for their words at the same time? Hear us out on this one because we're done with the notes app apologies and looking for real action within the community – even if it includes a lil healthy bullying. We add extra heat to the Unbothered roundtable with the witty and wonderful Sasheer Zamata from ABC's, Home Economics and Hulu's Woke. She gives us a lesson on accountability culture, the role of comedians today, and tells us why she doesn't follow anyone on social media. Not even Beyonce.

    Show notes

Hold up a minute, y'all thought we were finished!? We are back with part two of our Relationship Gold series, and the gems are reloading, so take a listen to part one to make sure you're ready for this round. In this episode, we bring you another conversation on relationships – this time we're talking about building and sustaining them, as we consider if and why marriage and monogamy are still important to us. Do we still need it? How do we navigate it? Will we be the breadwinners as Black women and WHY are we even trying to win in a relationship in the first place?? Then we dig in with the hilarious and uber talented Niecy Nash, who answers all of these questions and more, reflects on being her own best advocate in front of and behind the camera, AND shares why her marriage with Jessica Betts is the first time she's ever felt fully and completely seen.

What does a healthy cuffing season look like and how can we normalize those green flags as Black women when we’re often only handed red ones.
