Or, as they like to call it, the Trip Advisor for your vagina. We myth busted everything from, being on the pill for “too long” and withdrawal bleeds, to the fertility awareness methods and the effectiveness of contraception in larger bodies.

Lovely listeners, this might be our most emotional episode yet. We've recently been speaking a bit more on the podcast about our experiences with being child-free, so you might already know that, for numerous reasons, neither of us have kids, despite wanting them. And from the amount of messages we get, we've realised how common this experience is, despite how isolating it can feel. So in this episode, we're getting real about our experiences, and where we're currently at with this. We're also chatting to the incredible Jody Day, aka the BEYONCE of Childlessness, about her advice on grief and what a childless future can look like.
p.s. as you'll hear in our chat, we're aware that child-less and child-free are meant to have different definitions. We're currently more comfortable using the term 'child-free' for ourselves, so that's what we're using in the episode title. It's absolutely not to take away from anyone who's child-free by choice, it's just where we're currently at in our "journey" xx

The pressures we put on ourselves can be unbearable, and hopefully this episode brings a bit of comfort to you.

Sometimes it feels like we can't avoid conversations about weight loss, fitness, and health, so in today's episode we're becoming part of the conversation. To be honest, we were a bit nervous about recording this episode because of our own relationships with fitness and how triggering any mention of weight loss can be for lots of people, including us. But this episode was one of the few weight loss conversations we didn't come out of feeling triggered, and that's thanks to Ben: the no bullshit personal trainer who *shock* advocates for people in bigger bodies. He's one of the good ones and gave us a bit of hope! We chatted about some weight loss myths, like "eat less, move more" and 🚀SUPERFOODS🚀, the harm of commenting on people's bodies, the toxicity of (some parts) of the fitness industry, and had some really honest conversations about intentional weight loss.

Did you know that men are 3x more likely than women to be diagnosed with ADHD? ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a type of neurodivergence with symptoms that can include restlessness, trouble concentrating, and sensory issues. It can can have huge implications for your life, work, and mental health, but quite often it’s missed until people notice it themselves, and advocate for it with their GPS. It’s also something we’re seeing more of on TikTok, which is making some people worry that it’s being glamourised and turned into a bandwagon. But with diagnosis so hard to come by, especially in the UK, maybe there’s some value in self-diagnosis?
Gemma Styles recently opened up about her experience with being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and we’re so pleased she’s joining us today to talk us through the process of being diagnosed, what this meant for her mental health/self-love, and how she’s adjusted to her diagnosis.

We've been doing this for a while now, and of course we still always get the "What about health?" questions. So, we thought it’d be good to chat a bit more about fatness, health, and BMI. A lot of you will know this already, but it’s one of the main ways that medical professionals determine health. So you’ll often go to the GP for a medical issue and be weighed, even if it’s something irrelevant like an ear infection. It’s often the thing that’s mostly focused on in terms of improving your health, and quite often it’s even used to deny care, with cuts offs for treatment for things like infertility if you’re over a certain BMI. So we know it has a huge impact on how our health is viewed and treated. But the more we looked into it, the more we realised how backwards this system is! It was never supposed to be used like this, yet here we are, letting it have a huge impact on our self worth and quality of care. So, let's chat about it.

We KNOW how messed up clothes sizing is. We’re taught to equate our self-worth with what size knickers we wear, which is obviously not true. And the more we looked into it the more we realised that clothes sizes are actually bull**** - it’s all made up, it’s changed over time, and it’s never consistent. Basically, we’ve been set up to fail, and we wanted to do more of a deep dive into why exactly that is. So in today's episode we're SO excited to chat to fashion historian Nicole Rudolph about where clothes sizing came from, how it got so messed up, and how we can remove the emotional aspect of sizing. It can be awkward and uncomfortable, but it's such an important topic so in this episode we're chatting about the spectrum of body privileges, the history of the body positivity and fat liberation movements, and our own privileges.
We are by no means experts - just people who have done research, are constantly learning, and are trying to make an inclusive community. So there's no shame at all if you're also still learning and feel a bit strange thinking about privilege when we live in a world where we're all made to hate our bodies. This week, we want to tell you a bit more about our stories so you can understand where we’re coming from when we talk about fighting diet culture and growing to love ourselves. We’re both now plus size, but we have very different stories. Laura grew up bigger and has had a problem with comfort eating for as long as she can remember. Meanwhile, Lauren grew up smaller, but was made self conscious of her body from a young age, and gained weight later in life as a result of trauma.
In a culture rife with diet-culture and fatphobia, we all have similar experiences of low self-esteem and problematic relationships with our bodies and food. But we’ve also all been taught to hide it and feel ashamed. We're here to stop that, and hopefully, you can find some comfort in our stories today!
