2.28 - Speed 2: Cruise Control | Sandra Bullock Aug 03, 2021

Show notes

Last episode we reviewed the iconic 1994 film, Speed. Now it's time to review the letdown of a sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control. Speed 2 loses Keanu Reeves and picks up the slowest motorized vehicle possible...both equally devastating changes. The chemistry between Bullock and co-star Jason Patric leaves much to be desired. Willem Dafoe plays the villain, and while very creepy, the story just wasn't built out to create the tension of the original. Speed 2 is not even a slow burn. It's just dead in the water.
With all that said, you gotta tune in to hear how this film ranks against every other Sandra Bullock film!

2.26 - Two if by Sea | Sandra Bullock Jul 20, 2021

Show notes

What do a Barnes & Noble Cashier, a Matisse painting, a fish factory, and a cement truck have in common? Check out Two if by Sea to find out! This 1996 "romantic comedy" features Sandra Bullock and Denis Leary as their characters grapple with moral obligation, slight identity crises, and a blossoming love of art (and each other?). While there were things we liked about this movie, it tries to do a LOT in 90 minutes and we definitely have thoughts on what would've made it better (plus an alternate ending idea)!

2.25 - Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman | Sandra Bullock Jul 16, 2021

Show notes

Bullock goes bionic! Join us as we review the 1989 film with the longest title ever, Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman. This is Sandra Bullock's second movie, and we have to say there's a clear step up from her first movie which we reviewed last episode.
This film features some lovable 80's music, dialogue, and costumes that elevates this otherwise confusing movie and subpar plot to quite the enjoyable watch! And do we see a hint of Sandra Bullock's iconic physical comedy/facial expressions? Tune in to hear all our thoughts & find out how this movie ranks against every other Sandra Bullock movie!

2.24 - Hangmen | Sandra Bullock Jul 13, 2021

Show notes

We’re going WAY back, to Sandra Bullock’s first movie ever! The 1987 film Hangmen is literally the WORST movie we have ever seen. Not just for Girl Crush Podcast…actually ever. The horrible video quality of watching on YouTube certainly did not help, but woof, this is a tough one! A young Sandra Bullock plays Lisa, the girlfriend of Danny who’s dad is caught up in some serious CIA stuff. Tune in for our thoughts on this plot and on Sandra’s film debut.
We hope you enjoy our take on this terrible film! Probably no surprise where this one ranks out of all 48 Sandra Bullock movies 😅

2.22 - Love Potion No. 9 | Sandra Bullock Jun 29, 2021

Show notes

Take a gypsy, chimpanzees, two nerdy friends, the Prince of England and a love potion and what do you get? Love Potion No. 9, a 1992 rom-com starring Sandra Bullock and Tate Donovan.
We found this movie to be laugh-out-loud ridiculous if you’re in the right mood, but just plain ridiculous if you’re not. Tune into this episode to find out how this movie ranks against every Sandra Bullock movie!

2.21 - Bird Box | Sandra Bullock Jun 22, 2021

Show notes

Join us for what is perhaps our most contentious episode! We have very different opinions of the 2018 Netflix Original Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock and Trevante Rhodes. Anne thinks the plot leaves too much unexplained..too many unanswered questions! Ally thinks it’s easy to accept the unexplained and be moved by the tense storyline. We CAN agree on a few things including Sarah Paulson deserved more screen time, Trevante Rhodes=yes, and of course Sandra Bullock’s acting (blindfolded?!) was amazing. So what does that mean for the ratings?? Tune in to find out how we ranked Bird Box against every other Sandy B movie!

2.20 - Sandra Bullock Gets Animated | Sandra Bullock Jun 15, 2021

Show notes

Join us as we review the two animated films Sandra Bullock has starred in - The Prince of Egypt and Minions!
The Prince of Egypt (1998) features Sandra Bullock as Miriam, the sister of Moses. We found her voice instantly recognizable, though we were disappointed she wasn't the one to sing in this musical rendition of the Old Testament Bible story. In Minions (2015), Sandra Bullock plays feminist villain Scarlett Overkill. Sandy sports a lower tone of voice, displaying an ability to act with her voice & leaving us wondering why she doesn't do more animated films!
Tune in to see how these movies stack up in the rankings of every Sandra Bullock movie!

2.19 - Hope Floats | Sandra Bullock Jun 08, 2021

Show notes

Join us as we discuss the 1998 movie Hope Floats starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. alongside adorable child actors Mae Whitman and Cameron Finley. This dramatic rom-com, directed by Forest Whitaker, was the first film produced by Sandra Bullock's production company Fortis Films.
We found this movie to be a feel-good classic with just the right touch of humor! Plus, love hearing Sandy show off a little southern twang! Put this on the list to watch at your next girl's night, and tune in to this episode to find out how this movie ranks vs. every other Sandra Bullock movie!
