Gilles Peterson Worldwide Vol.4 No.11 // David Rodigan Aug 22, 2011

Show notes

(http://brownswoodrecordings.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/rodigan.jpg)Given that Notting Hill Carnival is fast approaching and also the overwhelming response to Gilles' extended interview (it was supposed to be 20 mins!) with the legendary DJ/broadcaster David Rodigan when it was first broadcast a couple of months ago, we decided to make it available as a podcast. Selection without objection! You can download the podcast HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/88_Gilles_with_David_Rodigan.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]… or subscribe to Gilles’ podcasts via iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/gilles-peterson/id254695278)

Gilles Peterson Worldwide Vol.4 No.10 // Obenewa May 27, 2011

Show notes

(http://brownswoodrecordings.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/Obenewa-e1306424661144.jpg)Obenewa (http://www.obenewa.com) has been a recent discovery for us. Blown away by the tracks on her debut EP, we invited the West London based singer songwriter to make the trek out East (well... Old Street) to perform at our Record Store Day shindig in April. She came... and she killed it. Here are some words and music with Gilles about her aforementioned wonderful EP [iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/obenewa/id315996107)]; the artists that have inspired her; and her collaborations with the legendary Dego (4hero/2000Black).You can download the podcast HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/87_Gilles_with_Obenewa.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]… or subscribe to Gilles’ podcasts via iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/gilles-peterson/id254695278)

Many of my closest friends, family and work colleagues are there. It is my second home. As a DJ I have spent some of my most inspired nights in Japan. I always come back inspired, refreshed and motivated. The Japanese people have always shown me love and affection - they are the most passionate music fans and if they like what you do - they let you know! We all need that in life. Japan is a positive nation and as such I am sure it will eventually recover from it's current trauma. I hope you enjoy this mix that I recorded today featuring some Japanese tunes that have touched me over the years.Enjoy and of course...Ganbare NipponGPDownload the mix HERE (http://media.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/content.blubrry.com/gillespeterson/81_Gilles_Pray_For_Japan_Mix.mp3) [right-click-and-save on a PC // ctrl+click on a Mac]
