    NXT, AEW: TakeOver XXX builds, Orange Cassidy's future, controversies Aug 13, 2020

    An up-and-down Wednesday for NXT and AEW was filled with some successes and questionable booking decisions ahead of important stretches for both shows. Host Adam Silverstein opens with NXT, looking at the questionable build but excellent execution of the Keith Lee-Karrion Kross main event feud ahead of NXT TakeOver: XXX [2:43].     WWE: Orton-Flair deliver masterpiece, Retribution's pitiful debut Aug 11, 2020

    An up-and-down week of WWE programming closed strong Monday night with Randy Orton and Ric Flair delivering a masterclass in storytelling over the final 30 minutes on Raw.     Another incredible night of wrestling action was highlighted with a headline-making main event on NXT as former NFL punter and occasional WWE personality Pat McAfee surprised by punt kicking Adam Cole's head off in the show's final moments.     As SmackDown steadily improves week to week, Raw has fallen off a cliff with WWE struggling to tell stories, book matches or do much of anything right on its most well-known brand.     After spending three years atop the NXT mountain, Undisputed Era faces an uncertain future that host Adam Silverstein tries to unravel in this episode by looks at Adam Cole's outside-the-ring confrontation with Pat McAfee and whether NXT was providing hints Wednesday night as to the faction's long-term plans in WWE [3:30]. Coming off one of its best shows of 2020 last week, AEW largely disappointed for 90 minutes with an uneven, poorly-booked episode of Dynamite that was saved in the final half hour by an incredible MJF promo and thrilling main event featuring Jon Moxley, Darby Allin, Brian Cage and Ricky Starks [30:10].     WWE's infuriating, insulting booking of Raw on Monday night proved to host Adam Silverstein that the company does not understand its fans' desires even as it was reportedly attempting to repair the negative reaction coming out of Extreme Rules.
