    NXT put its best foot forward since the beginning of its new era, while AEW owner Tony Khan has taken personally WWE's decision to air an extra 30 minutes of SmackDown on Friday after being moved to FS1 due to the MLB playoffs.     With SmackDown steady and Raw finding its footing over the last month, WWE looked to be on a creative upswing with new rosters set to take effect. Instead, its booking took a nosedive this week with both shows failing to impress. Host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini discuss what went wrong for WWE as it builds to Crown Jewel [2:30], beginning The Main Event looking at the bright spot that was the Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman storyline [13:45].     The remnants of and fallout from Grand Slam took center stage across AEW as host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini break down Rampage and Dynamite along with the third episode of the new-look NXT. First up, Adam looks at significant improvements made to NXT with the pace slowing and matches being given more time [2:25]. It was ladies' night with the women's title and women's tag team titles both on the line, though Io Shirai and Zoey Stark shone far brighter than Raquel Gonzalez and Franky Monet in the main event.     With Extreme Rules in the rear-view mirror and the WWE Draft ahead, a pleasantly surprising Raw showed that WWE may have finally found its footing with its former A show. Host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini discuss why Raw has succeeded the last three weeks going up against Monday Night Football as well as some issues with the new A show, SmackDown, that are preventing it from being as great as it can be [3:15]. The Main Event focuses on Big E's two big meaty matches with Bobby Lashley for the WWE title, including a steel cage main event following the shocking return of the Hurt Business [12:25].     Just minutes after WWE Extreme Rules 2021 went off the air, host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini convene to break down the results from the final pay-per-view before the WWE Draft with a huge double main event. With a controversial finish to the universal title match between Roman Reigns and "The Demon" Finn Balor stealing the thunder from what was an otherwise entertaining show, "The Silver King" and "Vintage" discuss every aspect of the bout from the nearly perfectly booked and executed match to the unique resuscitation of "The Demon" to the head-scratching broken top rope that again proves WWE cannot get out of it sown way. The guys also go deep on the SmackDown women's title match between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair, including whether Sasha Banks' return for a disqualification finish was appropriate or took away from the bout. Plus, three more title matches, a welcome but surprising last-minute addition to the card and a look at what's next from a storyline and booking standpoint in WWE.     AEW Dynamite Grand Slam results, Omega vs. Danielson, NXT sets new tone Sep 23, 2021

    AEW made history with Grand Slam, the largest non-WWE wrestling show since 1999, on a special episode of Dynamite from Queens, New York. Host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini convene to break down the entire show [5:00], starting with the dream match that opened Grand Slam as Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson fought to a 30-minute time-limit draw. The guys discuss the incredible match before debating the booking and execution of the finish as well as the entire presentation of the bout. "The Silver King" and "Vintage" then run through the rest of the card, including CM Punk's promo, a possible heel change for Cody Rhodes as part of a messy match with Malakai Black and the women's title main event with Britt Baker and Ruby Soho.
