Are you a thermometer or a thermostat?

See a thermometer takes the temperature of the room. It reacts to its surroundings and assimilates to that. A thermostat on the other hand SETS the temperature of the room.

As a leader, you’ve got to be a thermostat. Setting the temperature, the culture, the pace, the activity of your team. The room will follow your lead. If you’re at 100 degrees, it may take a little time depending on how big the room is but your team will heat up to 100 degrees. If you’re at 60 degrees then your team will cool down to 60.

Now not everyone in the world can be a thermostat. The world couldn’t work that way. But if you want to be a leader, you must be a thermostat.

So leaders…evaluate who you are as a person and as a leader. Thermostat or thermometer?

Consistency! Seriously. Every single thing you want...an abundant bank account, a thriving business, a healthy body, an epic marriage - all of that is on the other side of consistency.

Think about something you are super confident in in life. Something that you are "elite" at. How did you get there? We're willing to bet it was consistent action over a sustained period of time that has now become a habit and a part of your identity, a non-negotiable.

We don't get our WANTS in life, we get our MUSTS. If you MUST pay your bills, but you WANT to make an extra $10,000 a month...guess what? You'll probably continue to just get by paying your bills. Our desires don;t change our life, our standards do.

Evaluate your standards. Change your standards, change your life.

"We want to change our standards...we want to shape and change our identity because that molds our daily habits, and our daily habits is consistency."

1:50 - Everything you want is on the other side of consistency.
2:18 - How do we become consistent in our own lives?
2:55 - We have to change our standards.
3:46 - What changes lives is when our "shoulds" become our "musts."
4:27 - Changing our identity.
6:23 - We have to evaluate everything important to us.
8:11 - YOU decide your value.
9:40 - Get your habits and standards on autopilot.

1) We get tired when we lack vision. Leaders don’t get tired, they get inspired. Do you have a crystal clear, compelling vision for your life?

2) It’s easy to love life, our relationships and business during the HYPE, or during the good times, but do you love it all during the HARD? Leaders look at “winter” as an opportunity to create, an opportunity to grow.

3) Are you a victim to your circumstances or a VISIONARY for yourself and others?

4) The greatest leaders receive the greatest lessons. What great lessons have you been taught or are you currently going through that are equipping you to become the person you were destined to be?

One time Sandy was asked to give a speech at a leadership conference in Vail, Colorado. She was SO nervous. Stomach in butterflies, nervous at the thought of not doing a good job.

A mentor could sense her nervous energy and asked how she was doing before her speech, and upon hearing that Sandy was nervous she told her, "Sandy, you got asked to do this for a reason. This isn't about you. You're here to serve. If you're nervous you're making it a bout you and your ego."

That stuck with her. And she felt compelled to share that message with you today!
