Paula is a registered nurse who basically coaches new parents and newborns on when to sleep, eat and play. Her business is called NASHVILLE BABY BOSS. She is a WEALTH of knowledge and has taught me everything about taking care of Sunny and informing me on what she needs from how much to feed her, guiding me through breast feeding, SIDS and how to set yourself up for the safest environment with your child, plus gently guiding Sunny into a consistent sleep schedule. Because of Paula I am greatly able to reduce my anxiety of being a new mother and know what Sunny needs. By 2 months old Sunny started sleeping through the night 7:30-7 and waking up happy and smiley because of Paula’s coaching. Sunny rarely cries and it’s only right when she’s ready for nap time or sleep bc her needs are always met and prepared for due to her schedule. We all got together at my house, piled in my bed like the old days, grabbed the wine, and went down memory lane for this podcast. We talk about the life we lived together in our 20’s... how we thought we were so cool smoking cigarettes (NOT COOL) and making out with boys. We laugh about all the lessons we learned together and how much we appreciate our 15 year friendship. We are moms now and Emily and I share our birthing stories and how they both weren’t what we planned, but isn’t that parenthood in general?! After struggling with body image and trying every different diet known to man from no carbs, juice cleanses, diet pills plus not eating, excessively exercising, bulimia... I have tried every unhealthy way to get “skinny.” And none of them worked long term for me, even though they did provide a “quick fix.” They all made me feel physically terrible and become obsessive about food and image plus miss the joy and appreciation of a meal and the nutrients it provided for my body. After getting pregnant and having Sunny I have never been more comfortable in my skin even though my body has changed more than ever. I break down why I think I’m happier than ever in my body and why diets and eating disorders don’t work for me.

Everyday she goes live with “The Daily Pop,” where she has round table talk with some of the biggest celebrities. I love how Carissa told me that her being vulnerable and willing to share her life and struggles was crucial for a good interview... “why would they want to share something back with me if I’m just sitting there on my high horse not sharing anything about myself.” She tells me how she juggles work and motherhood, how there is no balance, and what kept her in tears in the beginning of being a new mom. She also walks me through some of her most memorable interviews with the world’s favorite superstars.

Mama Karen Parker: How a positive attitude, romance, believing in yourself and good recipes make for a happy life Oct 28, 2019

Mama Karen is mom to 3 beautiful kids, one of them being my good friend Jessie James Decker who makes an appearance on this podcast w her daughter Vivi... Jessie shares one of her favorite childhood stories about her mama. Karen is so wise and so kind. That’s something I really took away from this interview was her sincere heart. She loves so purely and believes that anything is possible if you can see it, you can achieve it. She became a QVC host after working her way up from the front desk bc she knew she could do it. That’s how she is with her kids too, I remember Jessie saying in my interview with her that Mama Karen never thought any of Jessie’s dreams to become a singer were out of reach and she would take her all over the place so she could perform at a young age. Karen also believes in romance and gives some excellent tips to keeping the spark alive in your marriage plus she talks about her cookbooks and novel that is in the works!
