Joe Harris hit a trio of three-pointers in a row then stripped Jayson Tatum and ran out for a layup that handed the Nets a double-digit lead that they never looked back from. They led by as many as 30 points into the third quarter, with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Harris pouring in 20+ points in a 130-108 win. Jayson Tatum struggled again, starting 1-of-5 before leaving in the third after getting poked in the eye. Evan Fournier bounced back and beefed with Durant, which ended up being the only fight Boston showed in a loss that could be the beginning of the end of this season, down 0-2 heading back to Boston.

The Celtics led for the entire first half as Jayson Tatum got off to a hot start and Robert Williams III started off on an iconic performance with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 9 blocks as he neared a triple double. Marcus Smart contributed 17 points and Boston held the Nets without a three-pointer into the third quarter. The Celtics stuck around within one or a few possessions until Williams aggravated his turf toe late, heading to the bench while Tristan Thompson's unit yielded two Kyrie Irving jumpers and a devastating Kevin Durant steal-and-dunk that created a 10-point lead that Brooklyn built up to 11 to wrap a commanding second half. Did the Celtics miss their only chance to steal a game, or is this series bound to remain competitive?

Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum combined for nearly 80 points and led a 17-2 run out of halftime after Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III fell with second quarter injuries. The Wizards overcame an early deficit to lead at halftime, and Boston struggled from the field overall. Their defense stifled Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal though, with Tristan Thompson contributing 12 points and 12 rebounds with Williams out for the second half with turf toe. The Celtics' 118-100 win clinched them the 7 seed and a first round matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, which begins Saturday at 8 EST.

The Celtics second unit went down by 20 points midway through a game that had far more consequences for the Knicks, who sealed the 4 seed in the east with a 96-92 win. Tremont Waters, Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford led a rally to tie the game late, before Julius Randle and Reggie Bullock hit key shots late and Langford committed a costly foul down by three to give New York possession and the clock to finish the win. Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Evan Fournier, Tristan Thompson and Robert Williams sat since Boston already clinched the seven seed, and a Wizards comeback win vs the Hornets set up a Tuesday meeting at 9 p.m. in Boston for a trip to the playoffs against the 2-seed, which will likely be the Nets. Charlotte heads to Indiana for the 9-10 play in.

The Celtics beat the Timberwolves handily following a slow start, 124-108, behind strong performances from Jayson Tatum, Evan Fournier and Luke Kornet in a game that'll mean nothing for Boston's standings position. They finish the regular season vs. the Knicks tomorrow, as the winner of Hornets vs. Wizards at the same time will determine who visits Boston to begin the Play In Tournament on Tuesday. Celtics Post Game previewed those possibilities and reacted to Kevin Garnett entering the Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday with plenty of praise for his former Celtics team he took to a championship in 2008.

The Cavaliers got ahead early and led throughout a game where both teams sat numerous stars including Kemba Walker, Darius Garland, Robert Williams and Larry Nance. Isaac Okoro and the Cavaliers perimeter players that remained, along with Jarrett Allen, held down Jayson Tatum and the Celtics offense. Tremont Waters, Grant Williams, Aaron Nesmith and other Celtics depth pieces failed to muster any more than 94 points in a low-scoring performance, as the reality that the Celtics could lose out became apparent after Brad Stevens said pregame that the team is weighing its options on how it'll handle health with the play in tournament inevitable.

The Heat swept the Celtics in the conclusion of their mini series, building a 20 point lead after Jimmy Butler went down behind stellar play from Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo and a late clutch shot by Goran Dragic to shut down a late Celtics comeback led by Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier. Miami all but secured a first round bye, while the Celtics are heading to the play in tournament with three games remaining. Jaylen Brown is out for the season and Robert Williams III went back down with turf toe, as Boston's offense shot well, but its defense continues its string of league-worst play allowing a routine 120 points.

Breaking: Jaylen Brown OUT for the Season May 11, 2021
    Show notes

The Celtics announced Monday afternoon that Jaylen Brown is out for the season with a left wrist torn scapholunate ligament that he’ll undergo surgery on later this week. The loss likely ends any hope of an extended playoff run for Boston with four regular season games left and a play in tournament matchup with the Hornets looming before either seeing the Nets or 76ers round one. The Celtics went down by 26 in a must win game vs the Heat to begin their mini series, before storming back in the second half behind seven Evan Fournier threes to within six at the final buzzer, a 130-124 loss. Jimmy Butler peppered Marcus Smart and the Celtics defense with shots to pace Miami's offense ahead of Boston's comeback. Bam Adebayo scored consistently throughout, while veteran newcomer Trevor Ariza had a throwback performance against the lagging Celtics defense. Boston now sits two games behind Miami for the six seed ahead of Tuesday while the Hornets near them for seven, with the play in tournament looking nearly inevitable. Robert Williams III tried to play through turf toe, but exited the game at halftime.

The Bulls overcame an early deficit and led handily throughout behind strong nights from Coby White, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic in a fully healthy effort vs a Celtics team missing Robert Williams III and Jaylen Brown. Brown is expected back soon, but no Rob led to more offensive stagnancy as Jayson Tatum started 1-of-5. Kemba Walker scored a season-high 33 points and Evan Fournier provided 17 on 7-of-11. It wasn't enough as Boston collapsed in the second half defensively and a late comeback with Grant Williams at center fell short.
