44: Are You Giving Away Your Intuitive Power? Nov 07, 2019
    Show notes

We live in an INSANELY BUSY society right now. There is all the stuff… There are too many podcasts. (As you’re listening to a podcast, I’m telling you there’s too many.) There’s TOO MUCH NOISE. There are too many Instagrammers, there are too many people trying to tell you who to be, what to do, and how to do it right. And I believe we are getting inundated right now with other people’s opinions.
Today I am chatting with my dear friend Jeni Dahn about this and about what I think is happening. What I think is happening is that we’re getting rid of TRUSTING our own INTUITION.
Me, we, lots of us have gotten away from getting quiet, asking God and the universe to bring us messages. So, Jeni and I are sharing our perspectives on getting QUIET and the power of getting quiet.
What we decide, the conclusion we come to during this conversation is that you CANNOT HEAR your own intuition unless you’re able to silence your MIND.
Elizabeth Gilbert talks about the “BUTTERFLY” idea. That ideas are like butterflies, and if you are busy, if you have chaos going on, that butterfly, that idea, cannot land on you when you’re flailing all around. If you do not silence yourself, if you do not calm down and get quiet, those ideas and your intuition can not be activated.
I ask, “How can we do this?” One of the ways that Jeni practices and she believes still works, is to find a word or a phrase that I can give my mind to FOCUS on, to stop the 10 conversations that are in your head.
“A phrase that I want to happen in my life. I’m saying a phrase that I want to cultivate internally to be expressed externally.”
Stay calm and focused. Yes, it takes practice, a practice of slowing yourself down a little bit at a time.
And then we can learn to TURN the volume DOWN enough on THE NOISE so that we can hear our own inner voice, our own intuition. Because our intuition is often telling the TRUTH.
This is just the beginning of our incredible conversation surrounding this topic, one which we could talk about for hours given the chance! So, listen in today and at the heart of it all, is PRACTICING all the things we talk about, asking for it, practicing it, and then BEING OPEN to receiving it. And open means open your eyes, open your soul, open your energy field, open all the things. Yup, and it’s ASKING FOR A SIGN.
Thank you, dear listeners. I love you and I appreciate you and as always, I hope this has been helpful to you.

43: Honoring Your Front Seat Oct 31, 2019
    Show notes

Hello friends, today is a little bit of a riff from Episode 40, “Ambivert Is NOT A Thing.” And I’m going to share with you my Front Seat and some recent realizations.
As I talked about in the ambivert episode, your Front Seat is made up of two different people, two different parts of your personality. One is extroverted, and one is introverted, and this is why ALL EXTROVERTS need time alone. And often, extroverts get this bad rap that they are always supposed to be out in the world and connecting and all the things.
And with introverts, I think they think people that they never want to go out and be in public or connect, which is NOT TRUE. Maybe they don’t want to go to a big, busy restaurant, but they want to come over and connect and have a wonderful deep conversation.
So, what I’ve realized over the last couple of weeks, and again, possibly the last month, but specifically the last two weeks, is my introverted part of my Front Seat has been feeling prickly, and I have gotten away from that half of my Front Seat.
I’ve realized we cannot forget the BALANCE of both of those people in our Front Seats.
So, I hope that this episode where I get vulnerable and share my personal experience around this helps you to understand that we need to balance this Front Seat. We’ve got to learn about it, acknowledge it, and learn how to communicate with ourselves about it… And then with others in our lives about it as well.
I hope this has been helpful to you. Again, if you need resources, please always, always go to my website, I do hope you will go check that out. I can’t wait to talk to you next week when we continue this conversation about the Front Seat and the Back Seat. All right guys, thank you so, so, so much for listening.

42: What An Extrovert’s Back Seat Looks Like Oct 24, 2019
    Show notes

So this is always interesting, that I could pretend that everything’s fine and pretend that I am in my Front Seat and the reality is – I AM NOT. And so I wanted to take this opportunity in the moment to be as authentic as I possibly and to educate you on what this looks like and feels like. So on today’s episode, I want to talk about four main things and I’m wanting to use my real-world example right now of what’s going on with me.
I want to talk about what an extroverted BACK SEAT looks like, specifically what their baby in the backseat looks like. So in the backseat, there’s obviously the drunk uncle, which I will also talk about in fact next week’s podcast. Stay tuned for that… I had a HUGE new awareness around something that I was doing WRONG in my Front Seat that was actually causing my backseat. So I know that’s a little bit of a teaser, but stay tuned for next week.
Today’s episode, I want to do what’s extroverted backseat looks like cause I’M IN IT RIGHT NOW. What got me there and what gets you there? Also, how to deal with it in the moment, because sometimes they come out of nowhere. Mine came out of nowhere and I was like, “Okay, what do I need to do in the moment to manage this?”
And then, what to do next. Now that I’ve learned this lesson, what am I doing? How can I do it differently? How can you do it differently?
Okay, you guys ready? Here we go…
And as always, thanks for listening!!! I so, so appreciate it.

    41: Raising a Unique Child Oct 17, 2019
    Show notes

Parents, it’s time to REIMAGINE EDUCATION and your children’s experience with school. For a lot of kids, school is a friggin’ disaster. If they don’t fit in the middle-of-the-road lane, then sometimes they have no other OPTIONS.
Our world is changing all around us, and rapidly. Unfortunately, the way we teach our children has not been keeping up. In fact, as my guest explains, we are still STUCK in an 1800s style of education which is doing many of our kids, and their parents, a serious injustice.
Maureen O’Shaughnessy is a TRAILBLAZING school administrator and mother of three. Her master’s and doctorate focused on educational innovation. She is thrilled to use her experience and passion for personalized learning and academic success to innovate and lead a non-traditional, creative “Micro” school.
And on today’s episode, she reveals what’s wrong with our current model and system… and what she’s doing to FIX IT. If you are a parent or know of any parents who have school-age children, you gotta listen to this episode. It will open your mind to a way school can help your kids be happier, healthier, and more successful in a fully supportive environment.
It’s downright incredible. Here’s the deal, we have outliers when it comes to our kids. If it’s that A+ student that is perfectionistic and needs absolute control. If it’s an LGBTQ, if it’s a kid with autism, ADHD, the kid that’s a hands-on kinesthetic learner… Maureen says she has listed nine different kinds of outliers in her new book, Creating Micro-Schools for Colorful Mismatched Kids. NINE! And you start to see that is the MAJORITY of our students.
These are the kids who are NOT middle-of-the-road. And they need something different to FIND SUCCESS.
Thank you so much for listening. I just absolutely LOVE bringing this to you and am so grateful for your support.

40: [TRUTH BOMB] Ambivert is NOT a Thing Oct 10, 2019
    Show notes

Oh, people, I’m here to tell you, ambiverts don’t exist.
It’s not a thing. It’s just, it’s BULLSH!T. I don’t know who came up with it, but it’s not a thing. And I’m here to tell you exactly why it’s not a thing today. Ambiverts do not exist and one of the main reasons that it CAN’T EXIST.
The introversion and extroversion part of your personality type dictates your “Baby in the Back Seat,” which again as a reminder, is where you go under deep stress and where you go under deep stress tells you obviously so much about your personality type.
The Baby in the Backseat is where you go under deep STRESS, where you go when you’re doing too many things that you suck at, where you go when your back is up against a wall. When this happens, there are two very, very clear in places that people go and those two places are to fight or flee.
As I’ve mentioned in other episodes, and I will continue to talk about this, is that extroverts flee. And introverts lash out, they fight in a very baby-esque extroverted way. They get loud, they yell, they scream, they might boss people around, that kind of thing.
And so if people say, “Oh, I’m an ambivert, I’m neither one,” you’re missing so much of the richness of what personality type can teach you about yourself. Listen to this episode and I’ll explain what I mean and why I believe AMBIVERT IS IMPOSSIBLE and a bunch of BULLSH!T. And this is why… because our Front Seats are made up of both introvert and extrovert and we are equally those two things.
I mean, listen to this episode and I’ll be dropping this TRUTH BOMB on you, straight from the inside of my closet. I hope to God that it’s informative and helpful to you because I’m really fired up about it. A real fired up about it.
I’m going to do a webinar in the next couple of weeks about this, free webinars. So you can see me. I won’t be in my closet, I promise. So, if you’re not on my email list, go get on there. If you haven’t taken the assessment, it’s free on my website.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening. I know you have lots and lots and lots and lots of options, and it continues to shock me, delight me, and it’s just an incredible honor that you listen. So THANK YOU so, so, so, so, so much.

39: Two Big Lessons I Learned from the FSL Event Oct 03, 2019
    Show notes

“Yesterday I was clever, so I changed the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” – Rumi
Hello Front Seat Lifers! I am thrilled as always to be with you and today is a fun episode for me. It is about what the two biggest, I mean there are a lot of lessons, but the two biggest lessons I learned from the Front Seat Life event this year. As you may know, so once a year I throw this GINORMOUS event. I am going to be honest, there are a lot of feelings around it and part of what I learned is what I’m going to share about all these feelings.
Throwing an event like that is quite honestly, it’s, it’s just STRESSFUL. It’s a lot of WORK, it’s a lot of MONEY output, and sometimes those moments of, “Oh my God, is anybody going to show up?” And so for three years I posted an event the way that I watched other people host events. This year, I changed it up and came away with some BIG LESSONS I share on this episode.
This year I was really challenged by my coach to do it in a way that feels right, to not be so black or white in my thinking, but to really do it in a way that SPEAKS TO MY SOUL. So I share my story of this year’s event. What in your life, or your business or your relationship, are you doing in a way that you should consider changing? Can you do things in a way that speaks more to your soul? How in your life can you live a life that is congruent to who you are? How in your business can you THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX and not do it in a traditional way?
Go ahead, you have my permission, BREAK THE RULES.
Number two. Okay, you have to listen for lesson number two, because it’s an amazing story of MANIFESTATION in action.
I’ve told this story many times already and IT GIVES ME CHILLS. The power of manifestation, the power of dreaming big, the power of prayer, the power of holding on to a dream and a vision. Even though you have no idea how anything is going to happen. As you’re saying, “YES!” to yourself.
If you sit in your house and you don’t do anything to pursue and to go towards your dreams, nothing is going to happen.
You have to say, “yes” to yourself. DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES. It is our job to take action because that is a “God moment,” how the universe works, how manifestation works.
I’m just so thankful that my clients and God and the universe continue to give me these messages so I have content to bring you for this podcast. Thank you so much for listening. As always, it is such a ridiculous honor to hear the people who are even listening. I hope that you can learn something from these amazing lessons that I learned from the Front Seat Life event.

    38: The 80/20 Rule of Rest Sep 26, 2019
    Show notes

I am in bed. I AM SICK. So, today’s episode will be a short episode, and, ironically, this is what I wanted to talk to you about today, and then this is happening.
I am now being rested by the Universe. I did not rest enough after the Front Seat Life event. This event is the culmination of a TON OF WORK, from both myself and my team. I purposely scheduled a couple of days of downtime after the event, one day for myself and I brought the team for another. But I think what I didn’t do was rest enough in my own home. And now I am not feeling well.
I am now in bed doing a podcast episode and contemplating, but not feeling surprised. Like me, a lot of you are very type “A.” You’re very driven, and we push, and we push, and sometimes it’s hard for us to rest, especially as entrepreneurial spirits.
We are excited about what we’ve done. We want to celebrate it, but we also are onto the next thing. I’ll be honest, I’ve started to realize the importance of this 80/20 rule. As you may have remembered that we want in general as human beings, we want to try to spend 80% of our time in our Front Seat.
But the question always begs, what about the other 20%? What does that mean? And I have learned through the years that if we’re in our Front Seat 80% of the time, well, we have to be somewhere else the other 20%, and it’s best not to be doing stuff we suck at, or even worse, as the baby in the back seat.
We should ideally be resting. Turning off the social media, checking out, not working. So, my community came up with that new word, “soulfish.” Taking time away to replenish your soul, being selfish so that you can then be of service to other people to take that time off so that it’s proactive so that you can come back and 80% of the time then being your best self.
And I really, really feel like this is a mindset shift. It is for me, and I’ve been teaching this shit for like 20 years!
Take a little time today, kick back, and take care of yourself. Rest and listen to this episode or read a book. Go for a walk. We cannot be everything to everybody. If we do not rest, the universe is going to rest us.
I am excited to you next week, WELL-RESTED. Thank you so much for listening. I would love to hear from you guys over on iTunes about what you might be doing to implement this 80/20 Rule of Rest into your life. Bye-bye!

    37: Purpose-Driven Business Sep 19, 2019
    Show notes

You NEED a purpose-driven life and business. This interview was unintentional, as a podcast episode anyway. Hello Front Seat Lifers, I am excited to bring you a recording I did with Mandi Ann. You’ve heard her before in the podcast, she’s a client, and she was interviewing me for the book she was writing.
And it turned out to be this RICH, AMAZING CONVERSATION and I realized, “Oh shit, this is actually gonna be a really great podcast episode!”
So here it is! And it’s quite honestly, it’s one of my FAVORITE conversations I’ve ever had ever with anyone. I don’t even think what we’re talking about is necessarily about business. It’s just about your message, and your personal branding, connecting on a deeper level, and just being purposeful and purpose-driven in everything that you do.
We talk about the fact that even before you can figure out what you do, you’ve got to figure out who you are. You’ve got to figure out what your passion is, because what we’re talking about is not starting something just to start it but getting really CLEAR ABOUT WHY. What is it for you?
There’s so much to this incredible chat! So, I hope that you enjoy it, get inspired, and get a little something out of it. Thanks again for listening, I appreciate it so much!

    36: [TRUTH BOMB] This Resistance Thing is a B*TCH Sep 12, 2019
    Show notes

Are you ready for something a LITTLE DIFFERENT? One of the themes that I see over and over and over… people need some TRUTH BOMBS. I need truth bombs. People need truth bombs. My clients need truth bombs. Sometimes we need to be coddled. Sometimes we need to be honed. Sometimes we need to like look at the past and you know, dig in and do the work and sometimes we just need some fucking truth in our life.
That’s what this new segment is going to be. I’m going to be sharing some shorter episodes with you of some TRUTH BOMBS that I see THAT MY CLIENTS NEED OFTEN. And when they hear them, it is like a light bulb going on. It is very much a holy shit, a little slap in the face, a little bit of a fire hose to the face.
But often we need that. I know that that is where my greatest learning has often come from is when someone in my life is that honest with me. And it hurts. It does, it hurts in the moment. And it hurts because it’s true.
If it’s not true, it doesn’t matter to you.
So, hang tight for the first TRUTH BOMB to hit… it’s all about RESISTANCE.
This first truth bomb is a BIGGIE and it addresses four main questions surrounding resistance.
Number one, what does resistance LOOK LIKE? I think a lot of people don’t even understand what resistance is in their life. They might even be having resistance, but they don’t even realize that that’s what it is.
Number two, WHY does it show up?
Number three, what can we do to FIX IT? Because I hate to leave you with a bunch of horrible things, and then not give you some solutions.
Then number four… and this came from a listener. I got this amazing email from this great listener, and she wrote a powerful question and it stopped me in my tracks a little bit. When do you know it’s just a SIGN? Or when do you know that it’s RESISTANCE?
Listen in as I get gritty with this resistance thing, because it can be a BITCH!
Thanks again for listening, you’re all my heroes and I appreciate every one of you!
