54: How Do You Decide What to Fight For? – Sara Dean Jan 16, 2020
    Show notes

I have my amazing, thoughtful, kick-ass, brilliant friend Sara Dean with me today. Sarah is the creator and mind behind Shameless Mom Academy. We have an INCREDIBLE CONVERSATION about what it’s like to stand up for being a woman in this world. How to have an opinion and a voice without sounding “bitchy.”
Both of us are PASSIONATE about our messages, and it can get easy these days to get sucked into disagreements or even HOSTILE conversations, online and off, that can lead us down a rabbit-hole.
We delve into examples that happen to us, and likely to you too every day. Scrolling through social media and getting caught up in a HEATED “DEBATE” over divisive topics is all too common, it’s a slippery slope. Sara and I talk about how to find a middle ground. Too often, if we stand up for our beliefs, we are labeled as “Bitches,” and if we sit back and are accommodating, we’re not doing ourselves or our beliefs justice.
It’s often about asking yourself, “How can I insert myself into a conversation in a way that is powerful and meaningful. That doesn’t make everyone defensive, but that puts some clear boundaries in place?”
Sara gives us some wonderful insight and tips on how we can effectively navigate these tricky situations. Because we’ve all been there, where we feel we cannot help ourselves in those kinds of conversations. You want to say something, but also, you don’t want to say it in a way where you’re going to be immediately dismissed because it’s a FLY-OFF-THE-HANDLE-BITCHY-BOSSY comment.
Sara says, “I’m just conscientious around how I respond. But stay in ALIGNMENT with my CORE VALUES. When I’m going to insert myself into something on social media, I enter the conversation with curiosity and compassion.”
And we also talk about how these strategies can be useful in other areas of our lives, with our partners, our children, our parents, and friends or colleagues. More and more, we seem to be running into difficult and divisive conversations.
Sara and I also get into a deep conversation about how important this is when LEADERSHIP is considered. You’ve got to be able to say something and that sense of hesitancy to step up and say something will diminish your role as a leader. And ALL WOMEN ARE LEADERS in different capacities, but many of us don’t identify as such.
Apologizing or minimizing or saying, “I’m sorry,” when there’s nothing to be sorry about is habitual with many women. If you’re not setting boundaries, not LEANING IN to difficult conversations, or saying things that might not be popular, even in your own home, you’re shrinking.
People, this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is A TON packed into this episode, and I hope you get some fantastic value out of it. Again, thank you for listening and keeping the conversation going. I appreciate it.

53: Top Game-Changing Tools from Badass Boss Babe, Susan Hyatt Jan 09, 2020
    Show notes

All right, Front Seat Lifers, you are in for a TREAT. This is technically the second episode of the new year, but I couldn’t think of a better person to start the new year with than Susan Hyatt. She is currently my coach, helping me take my business to the next level.
If there’s anybody SASSIER than me, it’s probably Susan Hyatt. And that’s saying a lot because I’m pretty damn sassy myself.
Susan KEEPS IT REAL. She’s a hustler. She works hard. She has a beautiful message for her business clients and also her BARE clients. She is a true, true inspiration. A real BOSS BABE. She is absolutely the real deal. And I’m honored and delighted to have her with you today.
This episode is JAM PACKED with GOLDEN NUGGETS, so listen in. We cover Susan’s incredible story and how she ended up on her amazing path to kick some serious ass. And that’s just while we are getting warmed up… The trauma, the learning, the growth…
We talk about BODY IMAGE ISSUES and the super important work Susan is doing to help address this with young women and girls, and how programs help untold numbers move with LOVE and eat with ATTENTION instead of DEPRIVATION.
Her approach has seen an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response because “I think women are TIRED OF IT. They’re tired of the whole body shaming that goes on. They’re tired of dieting and counting points and everything.”
We also spend some time talking about how important it is to have a longterm vision. It’s what draws you forward when the going gets tough because it will get tough. It’s a real bitch sometimes. And it’s better to focus on the 90-day goals that you have set, than to “squirrel” and chase something new.
“It’s a long game, long game… At the end of this career, when I look back at my legacy, I want to be able to say the BARE or BOLD curriculum is known internationally for schools, hospitals, healthcare systems… That’s going to take some work.”
The going gets tough at different levels of your business for different reasons. And if you aren’t anchored in a strong enough “why,” then it becomes so easy to say, “I’m out, like I’m just going to go get a job, or I’m just gonna like go do something different because this isn’t worth it to me.”
Okay, there’s so much more to this episode, but if listen in, you will hear me admit one of my mindset issues… which has definitely been playing small and thinking people don’t want to talk to me and they don’t want to play with me.
Working with Susan has helped me to overcome this and just ask. Ask for money, ask to be on the stage, ask to be on the podcast… ask. (Do it professionally, don’t send those annoying-ass messages like, “This is why I think I’d be great on your podcast.”)
Wrapping up here, I want to mention Susan is working on a documentary, so watch for that, because I’m sure it will kick some SERIOUS BUTT, just like she does. And I know ‘em when I see ‘em.
Again, as always, thank you for being here. Thank you for having me.

52: Core Values, Your Best Decision-Making Tool Jan 02, 2020
    Show notes

Happy Freaking New Year! It is definitely my favorite time of year. It is a NEW YEAR. It is a NEW DECADE. It is 2020 people, and we are going to be bringing you all kinds of NEW and EXCITING THINGS this year.
I’m super, SUPER EXCITED. Welcome to the New Year, and today’s episode is one of MY FAVORITE TOOLS. I’ve been giving you lots of my favorite tools, and this week is no different. I figured this is the best possible way that I can help you start the new year.
I did not create this, and I am going to be honest, I don’t know who created this. I learned about it when I was a therapist, and I have been obsessed with it since. Absolutely. Completely. OBSESSED.
I’m going to tell you a little bit about it today, but you’ve got to get the download (see link in the notes). Get your Core Values Exercise. I give you the directions and beautiful, cute little cards with all the core values on them.
THESE CORE VALUES BECOME A BARRIER if you will, or a guidepost, or a SHIELD for what you allow into your life.
I believe so strongly in the POWER of these core values that I want everybody to do them. That’s all there is to it. I want you to do it with yourself and then any partner, kids, anybody. To start a new year is to determine what your core values are. And again, treating them as if they are the barrier for what you allow in.
During this episode, I guide you through this powerful exercise. Last week’s episode, the Visualization exercise, and this Core Values episode are both very powerful in helping you learn how to set boundaries.
And CLARIFYING what is important to you. This will change your life. If you want a new decision-making tool, this is it.
Look at your core values and ask yourself, “Does this decision line up with my core values?” If the answer is no, you get to move on with all the confidence in the world.
All right guys, Happy New Year! I am so excited to bring all this stuff to you, like so, so, so excited. It just makes me a little bit crazy, and I’m so excited. So again, Happy New Year!

    51: Powerful Visualization Dec 26, 2019
    Show notes

Hello, Front Seat Lifers! Today I am going to guide you through the best visualization tool I have found. This is a pretty special episode because this is something that I normally only reserve for my private clients. I also still do in my life personally, and hands down it is the best visualization exercise I’ve ever done, so I’m excited to bring it to you.
Here’s the deal about this episode, I want you to take 30 or 40 minutes or an hour to do this entire exercise.
I’m going to walk you through the visualization. Before you go to bed would be a great time to do this, or during your morning practice or sometime during the day where you have 40 minutes. This is the episode where you need to spend some time listening. And then, when it’s over, get out a journal and write every visual that you have.
I will talk to you about that at the end, but I wanted to preface it so that you don’t waste your time. I know your time is valuable, and I want you to get the most out of this.
So flag this or come back to it. But this is not the one that you want to be listening to while you’re in the shower or putting your makeup on because to get the most out of it, you’re going to need to close your eyes, get centered, and then journal afterward.
When we end the episode, I’m going to ask you to pick up your journal and then I’m going to have you write down every feeling, every single thing you remember, the feelings in your tummy, how you felt about yourself, what you saw, what was there, where you were, what were you doing in your life, all the things.
So get your journal, get yourself into a comfy spot… are you ready to go? Okay, I’m excited.
I pray and hope that this is powerful for you. Thank you. Thank you for listening. Happy New Year and I will see you for the New Year’s episode!

50: Your Year In Review Dec 20, 2019
    Show notes

Hello Front Seat Lifers! I am thrilled as always to be here with you, especially at the end of the year. Today’s episode is a bit of a SPECIAL EPISODE. I did a Facebook Live, a webinar, and made this into a podcast. So one of my themes for the past year and definitely into 2020 is working smarter, not harder, and making one hour of my life into three separate things would definitely be in that category.
So this is CHOCK FULL of information about your year end review. Why us weirdo intuitive types need to do our year end review differently. I talk to you about all of my best tips and tricks and tools and all of the things that I do this time of year. All to make sure that I’m getting ready for the most magnificent year that I can have going into the first of the year.
So I hope you enjoy today’s podcast / webinar / masterclass / Facebook live. I talk many, many times throughout this episode about the FRONT SEAT SQUAD. So I am very, very excited to announce that the Front Seat Squad, which has been the community in the past, is transferring into a free group.
So EVERY intuitive is invited! And so I’m really excited to invite a whole bunch of newbies into the group.
I cannot wait to talk to you all about personality type codependency, setting boundaries, loving people for who they are. Being unapologetically who you are, the 80 20 rule of rest, your Front Seat, your backseat, you’re your driver, your copilot, your drunk uncle, your baby in the bathroom.
Oh, ALL THE THINGS that I absolutely love to talk about. The Front Seat Squad is about that in particular, it’s about personal development. It’s about differentiation and attonement. It putting your own oxygen mask on first, and then being in relationship and accepting and loving people for who they are and not trying to change them.
So I’m excited to have you guys in there. This is not a group for entrepreneurs in particular. This is really a group for PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT and those that are very interested in all of those things that I just mentioned.
So go pop yourself into the group. Yes, you have to fill out four freaking questions. I believe in having a teeny tiny bit of skin in the game, but this is also our way of protecting the group and making sure that this is a, a small, private, intimate community.
So my friends, GET YOUR BUTT OVER THERE. All of you listeners too, that have been listening for this whole time and had been wondering, what’s the next step? How do I ask Jessica questions? How do I see her? How do we do masterclasses? This is how.
Thank you so, so much for listening and putting up with my crazy this year and I will see you guys in the squad as well as on the podcast next week.

49: Don’t Strangle Your Family During the Holidays! Dec 12, 2019
    Show notes

It is getting towards the end of the year, which always means family time, holiday time, all the wonderful things that come with spending time with our friends and family around the holidays. But it also NOTORIOUSLY comes with frustrations and irritations around personality type.
This is one of probably my busiest times of the year in terms of getting questions from listeners and viewers and people on my website, “Oh my God, my uncle or my sister or my mom or my stepdad… they’re driving me CRAZY! I think it’s a personality type thing. Can you talk to me about these things so that I can LOVE THEM for who they are?!”
Today’s topic is all about navigating the holidays, asking people to love us for who we are, but then we also need to love them for who they are. It’s really about FAMILY ACCEPTANCE around the holidays.
To help you with this sometimes SUPER challenging topic, my amazing team has put together a series of videos in addition to this episode. So you can listen to this with your family, but you can also watch these short videos. (See the link below the notes.)
Today I’ll talk about introversion and extroversion, sensing and intuition, thinking and feeling and judging and perceiving, and the differences between those dichotomies in particular. And then again in particular, how they relate to FAMILY DYNAMICS. I’ll give you some tips and insight so you can navigate your family holiday experiences smoothly and with love.
Hopefully, this can help you talk to your family about these differences so you don’t annoy the shit out of each other. We can learn to love each other for our differences and learn to accept. I might not even go as far as to say love the differences, but certainly, get to a place of acceptance of those differences.
I think this is a Dr. Phil-ism, “You can choose to be right. Or you can CHOOSE to be HAPPY.” And it doesn’t mean you let people walk all over you, but it’s also about picking your frickin’ battles. Is it worth fighting over? Are you going to accept your family around the holidays? Are you going to accept yourself?
Again, it’s about showing up as who you are but not expecting everybody else to be like you. All right, my friends, it is two weeks before Christmas and I hope you are enjoying this holiday season and doing whatever it is that makes you feel wonderful around this time of year!

48: Solo Travel is Empowering AF Dec 05, 2019
    Show notes

Aloha! I am in Maui right now, in my condo with the doors wide open, birds chirping, SUN out, and I am delighted to be coming to you today. The reason that I brought all of my equipment to Maui is that I wanted to be in this vortex of energy to talk to you about a couple of different things, your year-end review and solo tripping.
Intuitives in particular, need TIME AWAY and they need things to look forward to. It’s Maui this time for me, and it could be anywhere for you. It could be the ocean, it could be the mountains, it could be ANYWHERE.
Intuitives do not like, nor do we flourish in a nine to five schedule. We love spontaneity, creativity, and living different lives. And part of that comes from not living a scheduled life… and from traveling.
As creative, intuitive types, we need to get outside of the box. So that is one of the reasons that I am here and that you’re listening to this podcast because you need to know as well that there is NOTHING fricking wrong with you. There’s nothing wrong with you, except again, as a reminder, 75% of the population doesn’t actually ”need” this.
Do they love it? Of course, they’ll have to go on vacation. Well, some people don’t love it, but the difference is Intuitives NEED IT in a different way than Sensors need it. Or, they maybe don’t even need it.
Where can we go? What can we see that’s new every day? And so again, I want Intuitives to realize there is nothing wrong with us. This is just who we are.
I don’t care if you are married, single, or in a relationship. GO TRAVEL by yourself, it will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made in your life. I promise you that. During this amazing episode, I get super honest and let you know why this is so damn important, and empowering. (And also, when you see someone traveling alone, let’s stop looking at them with fucking pity. Instead, look at them like, “Good on you!” Remember, they are alone likely by choice.)
The second reason that I’m here is that this is my time to do my YEAR IN REVIEW.
I want to talk to you a tiny bit about the year in review, but I’m not going to give it all the way because I am doing a free webinar. December 18th at 7:30 AM Pacific time. (See the link below in the notes…)
I’m going to show you exactly what I do to review my year, to set me up for success. So there has to be INTENTION. And purpose. We’ve got to mark down, like literally write down our biggest “aha” was for the past year to help us give some clarity on where we need to go in 2020.
Then obviously, you know, one of my favorite things is to plan the coming year to be the most KICK-ASS that it can be.
But I’m here to tell you right now… you cannot, and will not be successful until you do this practice. Period. End of story. I think it’s a Dr. Phil-ism that says, “The best predictor of future performance is past performance.” And what most people do is they don’t do shit.
They don’t track their year. They don’t reread their year and they certainly don’t ask themselves…Where was I awesome? Where was I a hot-ass mess? And how do I need to FIX IT?
So, if you don’t follow this practice or need some motivation to get it in gear, listen to this episode. I’ll outline my practice, give you some kick-ass ideas on how to implement this into your world, and you’ll learn why all of this is so important.
Ok, there’s so much more in the episode, so give it a listen and I can’t wait to see you next time. All right guys, thank you!

47: Why It’s Hard for an Intuitive to Release and Move On Nov 29, 2019
    Show notes

Today, I want to bring you a bunch of different tools, especially for Intuitive types. Anybody who knows me at all knows that I am a strong, Intuitive type. My passion is to help Intuitive types.
Not that I don’t love you, Sensors. I do. I have plenty of them in my life. I have plenty as clients as well. But MY JAM is really about INTUITIVE TYPES because… we truly are the WEIRDOS of the world. We are only 25% of the population, and therefore we are met with all kinds of resistance.
We are met with CONFUSION. We are met with PUSHBACK from society, Scholastic schooling, and Scholastic tests. Nine to five jobs. All these things, and this podcast and my website and everything that I do are really to help Intuitive types because we’re different than the other 75%. And it can be tough at times to live and thrive in a world built by Sensors.
I feel all Intuitive types have this desire and dream to live a unique and different life. And today I want to talk to you about why it is HARD for Intuitive types to MOVE ON. And what do you, if you’re that Intuitive I’m talking about, what do you NEED TO RELEASE? What do you need to get rid of this year?
Last week I talked about ROCKS. And in that, I asked you specifically about who are your rocks, what are the rocks in your life? And then what do you need to get rid of?
Today I’m going deeper and piggybacking on that idea, but in a new frame of reference, which is why? Why is it hard for intuitive types to move on and release things?
I’m going to ask you two main questions today, and answer them too…
    Why is it HARD?
What do you NEED TO RELEASE?
Listen in, and I know the answers to these questions can help you move on if you are staying, intuitively stuck on something in your life of which you desperately, desperately need to let go.
All right, enjoy your day after Thanksgiving. I hope you are having an amazing, amazing long weekend and I will see you next Friday. Thanks again for listening!

    46: Know Your Rocks Nov 21, 2019
    Show notes

I love fall. I love the couple of weeks before the holidays. I love this season for a lot of reasons. One of the main reasons I love this time of year is that it feels like there’s time to REST and REFLECT. There’s time to get things done. It’s not as chaotic as the summertime.
And the other reason that I love this time of year, in addition to reflecting and reviewing, is that I start THINKING AHEAD, focusing on where I am going as I head into a new year… which for us is also a new decade. So, today is a big end of the year topic. I’ve got basically six or seven more “end of the year” and “prepping for the new year” topics and today’s is KNOWING YOUR ROCKS.
Most people that I run into are REACTIONARY. They’re not proactive with their calendar. They’re not proactive with their time. They’re not proactive in how they spend their time. They’re reactive. They’re CONSTANTLY BEHIND and running all over the place.
Often this is because they don’t know what their ROCKS are, the main things in your life that are important. What are the most important things in your life?
If you were to try to put rocks and sand in a cylinder or big jar, let’s just say you fill it first with a bunch of sand, and then you try to put the rocks in…They don’t fit. If you put the rocks in first and then fill it the rest of the way with the sand… Everything fits.
We live in this weirdly reactionary world right now and a lot of the things going on in our world can just be SAND. Hey, I’m a social media marketer too. I’m out there doing Insta stories and I’ve got a podcast and I’m doing all this stuff. And I get that it’s a little bit controversial to be talking about this yet there are people that just get lost for hours and hours and hours in sand, which are Insta stories from a bunch of people that don’t matter.
What are your rocks? They come first, my friends… What are your rocks going into 2020? For example, I really think there should only be a few. First and foremost, and this may be controversial for some of you, but first and foremost, YOU are your NUMBER ONE ROCK.
You are your number one priority. This has been said a million times by a million different people that if you do not take care of yourself, you cannot be the best mother. You cannot be the best spouse. You cannot be the best entrepreneur. You cannot be the best daughter, sister, friend, employee, and all the things that we need to be able to do, whatever it is. You cannot be the best version of yourself if you are not taking care of yourself.
Other BIG ROCKS may include your FAMILY, obviously. Your partner, spouse, lover, whoever that is, and your CHILDREN, if you have children. Your SPIRITUAL TIME can go into “you” time or that can be something separate.
Your BUSINESS is on there, whether you work for somebody else or you work for yourself, but what is your work time. Then maybe comes your A-List FRIENDS, and I know that sounds awful, but I made a list years ago of my A-List friends, my B-List friends, and then anybody who’s not in that becomes my D-List friends. You’re going to have to listen in to hear me explain the importance of this, and it is a key piece.
Now, the hard part isn’t always identifying YOUR ROCKS, the tough stuff often comes next… the point is to put them on your calendar. And then HONOR YOUR CALENDAR. Stay focused and don’t take a FREE DAY and FILL IT with 47,000 things!
That, to me, is CRAZY TOWN. And so, if you don’t know what the rocks are, I bet your time is filled with a whole bunch of bullshit.
And that brings me to the last point today. I encourage you to MAKE SPACE FOR YOUR FUTURE.
How do you make space for your future? Ask yourself, “What am I holding on to that is time to let go of?” We are not only going into a new year and a new decade. What do YOU NEED TO RELEASE in order to make space for your future? Is it a dead-end relationship? Is it a group of friends that just gossip?
Is it a part of your business that you know you need to release in order to make space for your future? Is it weight? Is it toxic thinking? Is it that you need to finally get ahold of your finances? What is it that you need to get in check? Figure it out? What are you holding onto? Then it is time to let go of it… If I know anything, I know this because I’ve literally experienced this.
WHEN I RELEASE SOMETHING out of the cylinder of my energy, SOMETHING NEW AND WONDERFUL COMES IN and it blows me away every single time.
Okay, you gotta listen to this episode, and the next several because I’m ending this year really, really strong with some amazing episodes to help you FINISH YOUR YEAR STRONG and then absolutely kill it going into a brand new decade.
And on that note, I will see you next week, I hope everybody has an amazing weekend. Thank you so much for listening.

45: Goal Setting for Intuitives Nov 14, 2019
    Show notes

I just came off an incredible week with my Mastermind. We’re a total of four entrepreneurs that have become very dear friends. And we Mastermind. We are building relationships. And I am reinvigorated for Front Seat Life! For my business, for you guys, for this podcast, and to be of service.
I’m more excited than normal and I’m also really, freaking excited to bring you today’s topic, which is Goal Setting for Intuitives. Because I’m an Intuitive, I work almost exclusively with Intuitives, and Front Seat Life is really designed for Intuitives… because we are the WEIRDOS.
We are only 25% of the population, and quite honestly, of that 25% of the population, a large portion of those people don’t even know that they’re Intuitives because they’ve been living suppressed in a world made up by Sensors, the other 75%.
But again, today’s topic is specifically about GOAL SETTING. So, I’m going to start by saying how we don’t do things, or we need to not do things, like Sensors. We do not process information the way that 75% of the population does. Sensors are SMART GOAL kinds of people. You’ve heard of these, maybe even tried them out, and probably found they DIDN’T WORK for you.
Especially if you are Intuitive. We are not like that. We are not “sit down and write things out” kinds of people. We live in a world that is designed by a bunch of people who don’t get the ways our brains work.
(And so that is why I’m so f*cking passionate about working with Intuitives because I am that person.)
Are you an Intuitive? Stop trying to do SMART goals? Okay? Listen in, because during this episode, I’m going to tell you how Intuitive brains work around setting goals for the New Year. (And, by the way, I think you should do this quarterly, not just yearly.)
We Intuitives must start with the BIG PICTURE. We are like a funnel, in your mind, think of a funnel. Sensors start at the bottom of the funnel. They are detail people. They are down there in the minutiae. When they have all the details, then they get a big picture. Intuitives, we start at the big picture and then we get smaller. So, my friends, you have to start with the big picture.
What’s up with your vision board? Do you have a new one? Do you even have one? What does it look like? Are you updating it? And then what are the big pictures for yourself? Also, if you do not have a FIVE-YEAR VISION for yourself, you fricking better get one. Along with a 10-year vision too.
I used to somewhat think that I was a procrastinator. And it’s NOT ABOUT PROCRASTINATION for Intuitives. It’s the fact that it’s the number third thing on goal setting for Intuitives, which is we need to FEEL INTO IT.
Why are you not getting something done? It’s part of how we process information. Intuitives have to oftentimes sit with it, decide how it feels. How does my intuition think about that? So, whatever that means for you, taking a walk, going on vacation by yourself, your morning practice. This is a time for me where I get even more introverted.
Mind mapping is another great way to help set your goals, but this is very, very difficult to explain on a podcast. Go check out my webinar on the 18th because I’m going to show you what mind mapping looks like. Or you can also go look it up.
The next strategy I use to help me with my goal setting is to also pray. I say this a lot, I’m a Christian and I’m a believer that also says f*ck a lot. And I pray when I’m STUCK. I pray for other people of course. But sometimes I just say, “God, I’m over-managing this and I need your input.”
I believe in taking guidance. I don’t believe in people telling me what to do. I still trust the universe and God and my own intuition first. And then I listen to other people.
And so lastly about goal setting for Intuitives, here’s a couple of questions to ask yourself:
Where are you PLAYING SMALL in your life or your business? And how much of that is FEAR based?
I believe wholeheartedly that for new to come in, we must release the old. Whether that is old patterns, old beliefs, old relationships, old ways of being, or an old business model. To step into something new, we must release the old.
This is a biggie and if you listen, you’ll hear me go pretty deep on this one. But that’s goal setting in a nutshell. Listen to this mind-bending episode for more details and I’m sure you won’t regret it. As always, I get real and authentic and plenty vulnerable as I share my own experiences and mistakes.
And as always, I love you all and am just wanting to spread this Front Seat Life message. I’m getting very excited for 2020 to bring you a little bit of a new format and some new awesome stuff for the podcast.
I’m just really honored and thank you again for listening.
