    Forensic Tales

Not all stories have happy endings… Hosted by Courtney Fretwell, M.S. in Forensic Psychology, Forensic Tales is a weekly true crime podcast with a forensic twist. Each episode features real cases and explores how forensic science, criminal profiling, and investigative techniques were used to uncover the truth—or, in some cases, left more questions than answers. From fingerprint analysis and DNA evidence to bloodstain pattern analysis and behavioral profiling, every episode breaks down the science behind the headlines. Whether it's a solved murder, a cold case, or a controversial investigation, Forensic Tales takes you beyond the crime scene and into the forensic evidence that shaped the case.

Kidnapping of Sherri Papini Sep 28, 2020
    Show notes

#039 - A 34-year old wife and mother of 2 young children is kidnapped in Redding, California while out for a jog. Her cell phone and headphones are discovered less than a mile from her house, with a clump of her long blonde hair.

Her disappearance was dubbed as the kidnapping of ‘Super Mom”. A beautiful woman simply vanished.

After 22 long days, Sherri Papini, Super Mom, was discovered on Thanksgiving morning wandering near a California Freeway. Her nose was broken, she was covered in bruises, her long blonde hair cut short, and she had been branded on her shoulder.

What happened to Super Mom back in 2016? Was she targeted, or was there another explanation behind her disappearance?

Murder on Board PSA Flight 1771 Sep 21, 2020
    Show notes

#038 - On December 7, 1987, Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 1771, carrying 38 passengers and 5 crew members, departed from Los Angeles for what should have been a short flight to San Francisco.

Moments after reaching the standard cruising altitude of 22,000 feet, the pilots inside the aircraft signaled distress, telling air traffic controllers that shots had been fired. The airplane was sent falling down to the ground almost breaking the speed of sound.

All 43 people on board Flight 1771 were killed.

Was this some tragic accident, a malfunction in the aircraft? Or did someone intentionally cause that PSA flight to crash?
