Ilana shares a wealth of tips on how to manage cravings and mindful eating through the holidays. She coined this concept of XYZ eating to explain the process of thinking about food.
X- what happened prior to eating (stressful day, not enough sleep, etc.)
Y- the actual eating
Z- the feelings you have after the food (proud, satisfied or overly stuffed and regretful).
Ilana notices that many people struggle with weight loss because they are too focussed on X, what happened in the past. Many of her clients over eat because feelings of "I deserve to because I didn't eat a lot today." Or for example, "my kids have been making me crazy, I want some late night snacks."
Ilana recommends to think more about Z, how you will feel in the future, before choosing your Y, the food.
Some tips she said for creating this method is doing her 2B mindset weight loss program (try2Bmindset.com), and using the tracker. She also talks about the benefits of exercise in improving this process and changing the outlook of X. Finally she shares her ilana-isms of "Drop the Fork," and "Know yourself, don't test yourself."
