What IBE®️ will never be Aug 28, 2026
    Show notes

Most brands will tell you what they stand for. Fewer will tell you what they've turned down. McKenzie and Jasmine sit down to name the things IBE® has said no to — repeatedly, deliberately, and sometimes at a cost — and why those refusals are the clearest picture of what the brand actually is.
This is a conversation about conviction over convenience. About what happens when you're offered an easier, faster, more profitable path and decline it because it wouldn't serve the stylist or the client on the other end of the chair.
    In this episode:

    • Why IBE® teaches one method and will never add another — even with stylists actively requesting it
    • The pendulum between specialist and do-it-all, and why specialists consistently pull ahead
    • The conversations behind closed doors about offering video-only or weekend certification — and why the answer was no
    • Why an experienced stylist goes through the exact same step-by-step process as someone who's never picked up a needle
    • How the certification is built for retention, not speed, and what that intentionally costs
    • Why the method was designed with the client's comfort and scalp health in mind first, not the photo
    • What "post-certification support" actually means at IBE® — and why the term undersells it
    • How membership dollars are converted directly into ad spend that drives clients to the stylist locator
    • The traffic numbers behind the locator and where McKenzie wants them to go next
    • Permission to stop chasing what the salon down the street is doing

Where Your Hair Actually Comes From Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

Single donor. Ethically sourced. Cuticle aligned. Double drawn. These terms get printed on packaging and repeated in captions across the entire extension industry, and most of the people saying them have never asked where they came from or whether they're true.
McKenzie has. She's flown to China, sat in factories, demanded documentation for every step of the sourcing process, and softened her stance on the companies making claims they can't back up, not because the claims are accurate, but because she's realized most of them genuinely don't know either. In this episode, she and Jasmine take apart the language of hair sourcing piece by piece, and explain what actually matters for the client sitting in your chair.
    In this episode:

    • Why "single donor" is real for some extension types and essentially impossible for wefts; and why that's not the problem you think it is
    • What ethically sourced means when you can prove it, and why the proof stays proprietary
    • Remy, cuticle aligned, and cuticle intact; what each one actually describes, and what happens to hair that's been through an acid bath
    • The 6-to-8-week shift that reveals what you really bought
    • Double drawn vs. "pre-layered": how a weft can hit the right weight and the right length claim while hiding most of its density in the top five inches
    • The pricing lever any brand can pull to quietly cut costs without changing what's on the label; and why IBE® won't touch it
    • Why McKenzie would rather be out of stock than accept hair that isn't 100% finished

If you sell it, you have a moral responsibility to understand it. This one's for the stylists who want to answer their clients' questions honestly.

Texture is the New Color Match Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when a client wears her natural texture for the first time in her life — because of her extensions?McKenzie and Jasmine get into why shop IBE carries the texture range it does, and why that decision started years before the industry caught up. From early curly sourcing in 2021 to the factory samples McKenzie flat-out rejected, this is the behind-the-scenes of building a multi-textured line and the consultation shift that comes with it.They also go deep on the part most people underestimate: product. Because a seamless texture match is only half the job. The other half is teaching a client how to actually care for hair she's never worn in its natural state. In this episode:

    • Why the industry conversation moved from "how many colors do you have?" to "what textures do you carry?", and why color can be customized in your chair, but texture can't
    • The early days of sourcing curly hair, and what it took to get factories to meet IBE standards
    • How the post-2020 shift toward natural hair changed what clients are asking for
    • The one word to remember when working with texture: moisture — and why product volume has to scale with every level of texture you add
    • What's actually happening at the cuticle level, and why textured hair grabs product completely differently than flat-ironed hair
    • The consultation questions to ask before you choose a texture — including the one about a humid day at the park
    • Why McKenzie built Goldie Locks in the first place, what surprised her about who it works for, and the truth about how IBE and Goldie relate
    • The strand-by-strand coiling technique from the Art of Texture course that most stylists skip
    • What it really takes to bring a new texture to market the right way

Your confidence in the texture conversation is what closes the consultation. Explore the education and the full texture range at invisiblebeadextensions.com.

Two Paths, One Standard: Jenn & Raegan on Growing With IBE®

What does real growth in this industry actually look like—whether you've been behind the chair for years or you're fresh out of beauty school? In this episode of Flipping the Industry, Jasmine sits down with Jenn Calloway and Raegan Abel, two IBE® Masters Technique educators who took completely different roads to the same place: a mission to help stylists get better at their craft.Jenn came in seasoned, with years of experience and past extension-brand background before finding IBE®. Raegan knew immediately after beauty school that IBE® was where she wanted to build. Different starting lines, same trajectory—both of their careers have skyrocketed, and both now pour that momentum back into the stylists coming up behind them. Recorded right after two back-to-back 10-hour days: teaching an IBE® in-person class one day, then filming a Masters troubleshooting class the next.

    In this episode:

    - Why experience level isn't the ceiling—or the excuse—it's made out to be

    - How Jenn translated years behind the chair into a stronger IBE® foundation into a bustling salon

    - What made Raegan commit to IBE® straight out of beauty school and opening a salon at 24

    - What it actually takes to grow from stylist to technique educator and mentor

    - The mindset that separates stylists who plateau from the ones who keep climbing

An Interview with Megan King: Betting on Yourself Jul 03, 2026
    Show notes

From Certified to Masters Educator: Megan King on Betting on Yourself
Megan King didn't just get IBE® certified — she built a salon around it, turned her Instagram into an IBE®-only showcase, and earned her way to Masters Educator. In this episode of Flipping the Industry, host Jasmine sits down with Megan to talk about what it actually looks like when a stylist goes all in on the method and lets the work speak for itself.
Megan gets candid about the hesitations she hears from stylists on the fence — the cost, the doubts about online education — and why none of them held up once she saw the results. Her take on IBE®'s online model reframes the objection most stylists lead with, and her story is proof of what happens when you stop overthinking and commit.
    In this episode:

    • Why letting the method speak for itself beats any hard sell
    • Megan's IBE®-only Instagram rule and how it shaped her salon's brand
    • The real objections stylists raise — "it's too expensive," "I don't trust online education" — and why they don't hold up
    • How rewatchable online education outperforms one-time, in-person classes you can't revisit
    • Megan's journey from certified stylist to Masters Educator, and what that growth looked like

If you're a stylist wondering whether to get certified, Megan's advice is simple: do it. And if you're already IBE® certified and eyeing Masters, open enrollment is live at the time of this episode. Learn more at invisiblebeadextensions.com.

    What Makes IBE® Different Jun 19, 2026
    Show notes

Most big extension brands are built to sell you hair. Education comes second — a one-day certification stapled onto a product catalog, five or six methods crammed into an afternoon, and silence the moment you have a question. McKenzie and Jasmine have seen it from the inside, and in this episode they say the quiet part out loud.

IBE® was never built that way. McKenzie started the brand seven years ago not to move hair, but because she couldn't sleep knowing the methods she'd been taught were damaging her clients — and that education-first conviction is exactly why IBE® didn't even release a hair course until 2026, and only then because stylists demanded it. This is a candid look at what separates real mentorship from a sales funnel, and how to tell the difference before you spend your money.

    In this episode:

    • Why a one-day certification is the single biggest red flag in extension education — and what genuine one-on-one mentorship should look like instead
    • The hair-sales playbook bigger brands run, including pay-to-play stylist maps and celebrity influencer deals that don't actually serve you
    • How IBE® stayed education-first for seven years before ever teaching a course on its own hair
    • The questions every stylist should ask a brand before certifying — and the values to look for on the other end of the transaction

From Certified to Masters Educator | An Interview with Nicole Fermo Jun 05, 2026
    Show notes

Nicole Fermo is the kind of stylist every certification program hopes to attract — driven, sharp, ready to do the work. She's also moving through the IBE® education ladder at a pace that's almost unheard of: newly certified, fully booked, and became an educator in under a year.

This episode is for the stylist who's been on the fence about IBE® certification — and for the stylist who's already certified and trying to figure out what's next. Jasmine sits down with Nicole for a real conversation about all of it.

    In this episode:

    • Why Nicole chose IBE® over the other extension certifications she was considering
    • What the certification process actually felt like from the inside — the hard parts, the breakthroughs, the moments she questioned herself
    • How Business Academy bridges the gap between newly certified and fully booked
    • The mindset shift that took her from learning a method to running a business she's proud of
    • What she'd tell the stylist still sitting on the fence

Are Extensions After 35 Worth It? May 22, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Flipping the Industry, McKenzie and Jasmine talk about what it really means to wear extensions when you're a woman over 35 — navigating hormonal changes, thinning, active shedding, and the kind of hair concerns that can be painful to even talk about. McKenzie built IBE® one client at a time, and she's watched it grow into a method that meets women wherever they are, whether they want a dramatic mermaid transformation or a healthy, sustainable solution for hair that's changing.

This one is for every woman who's ever struggled to find a stylist who truly gets her hair — and it's about how to find that person through the IBE® stylist locator, the bridge built to connect clients with certified IBE® stylists they can trust.

    In this episode:

    • Why women over 35 dealing with hormonal or hair-loss changes need a stylist versed in their specific hair type
    • How the stylist locator lets you find stylists who specialize in fine hair, active shedding, and specific concerns
    • Why a stylist's Instagram is one of the biggest signals to look for before you book
    • What happens when you move — and how the IBE® network keeps you taken care of nationwide
    • Why "find your last stylist ever" is exactly what an IBE® stylist becomes
    • Why you should never choose an extension artist on the transformation alone — and what healthy, sustainable hair actually requires

If you're a client looking for invisible bead extensions, head over to the IBE® stylist locator and find your match at invisiblebeadextensions.com.

McKenzie also reflects on building the Haus of IBE® as the flagship salon — a space designed to match the caliber of the method itself — and why watching stylists like Tionni soar inside it has been one of the most fulfilling parts of the journey.

    In this episode:

    • Why Tionni chose IBE® over another salon offer right out of school
    • How assisting and fast-tracking certification in four weeks accelerated her career
    • The Master Technique shift that cut her row time from 70 minutes to 45
    • Flying to New York every eight weeks and hosting clients who travel from Canada to see her

    • Why energy attracts the right clients more than follower count ever will
    • Her advice to stylists still in beauty school looking for their roadmap

What We Really Think About Other Extension Methods Apr 24, 2026
    Show notes

What do we actually think about tape-ins, tape-in rows, K-tips, hand-tied methods, and every other extension trend taking over social media right now? In this episode of Flipping the Industry, McKenzie Turley and Jasmine Hadjis say the quiet part out loud — breaking down where other hair extension methods fall short, why natural fall position is non-negotiable for scalp health, and the physics behind why IBE® still outperforms every method that's tried to copy it.

This is the unfiltered conversation stylists have been waiting for. No method-shaming, no drama — just honest opinions on the trade-offs of every extension technique and what it actually takes to deliver a healthy grow-out your clients can feel from day one.

    You'll hear:

    • Why natural fall position is the #1 red flag McKenzie watches for in any extension method
    • The truth about tape-in rows, K-tips, keratin bonds, and beaded row methods
    • Why adhesives, acetone removers, and maxed-out attachment points are a scalp health concern
    • The "sew-through-the-hair" myth debunked — and why it doesn't apply to IBE®
    • How IBE® blends speed, durability, and comfort without the trade-offs of other methods
    • Why conviction in your method matters more than comparison

Whether you're certified in IBE®, considering another extension method, or a client trying to understand what's actually behind your install, this episode gives you the real answers. It's time to flip the industry.
