An epic night in MMA, Combat sports, and for the company that stands atop them all The UFC. Francis wins 2nd fight with a powerful offensive wrestling approach, which still was just barely enough to fend off the Game Ciryl Gane. Hopefully Francis now realizes the levels of fighters who have perfected a certain craft are not easily thrown off by big power shots. This fight should shut down the boxing talk assuming the numbers didnt fool me again as to how close the fight was. Personally I will not shelve out 80 bucks for a PPV of 5 fights 3 of which possibly were worth more then the monthly espn+ fee which i now will have to start paying after I used up my free year. Other notes of the card and fights I actually watched. It was a nice debut for a few fighters I had been eyeballing heading into the event. Victor Henry is a bad man, and he didnt even get to show off the submission grappling that I really enjoyed in his past fights. His toughness and chin obviously are able to weather storms from the elite of the elite. He put on a volume striking clinic ending with well over 200 landed strikes and over 180 damaging strikes labeled as Significant, still unclear on this stat. All I know is Barcelos bloody face and his out of sync elusiveness showed at the end of rd 1, again at end of rd2 and basically all of rd 3 when he was left trying to evade and survive with haymakers that actually were landing flush, making this fight as a possible top candidate of fight of the year even though the onslaught from the Henry whom the media eyes overlooked during the ironically big week of #Henry or @Henry in the media and sports world. Surprisingly the heavy underdog from the ever evolving regional circuits, ended the weekend outdueling the 2 big guns who both started their 2022 with a realty check in competition and fame. Derrick the RB gave it a go but the mvp effort was stuffed possibly due to field rust. Cejudos was embarrassingly shot down because of false hoped fame from a corrupt world wide web that was infilitrated with greedy, power hungry culprits. It was the big Scam that finally got fixed thanks to smart individuals. In another Debut, Morales the calm and cool striker, made quick work of a usually more game Giles. I noticed his ability in the lead up, but I overlooked that killer instinct in his other fights. He is a bonified finisher, who seemed to pick it up after disecting his prior opponents a bit, but I guess he didnt need much disecting in this one id tell you why, but Michigan Top Team keeps answering that for me.
Also a bit of a letdown debut from The 10-0 prospect out of mexico laid a complete egg after being pummeled and knocked off his feet 4 times in round 1, according to espn stats, against a usually more of a grinding in your
Face opponent, in fervola from just my small observations of him. I knew his chin would hold up, but the submissions from his past posed a threat, of course that was another fake padded stat. I was not high on the guy prior to this fight, still picked him to be in the win collumn based off what I was able to gain in his background. Personally I feel the mexican fighters coming up are seemingly a coin flip as footage and competion levels have been mysterious to untrained eyes. Either the incredible records the woman and men show up with are actually legit like Moreno, Rodriguez etc..or they are highly overvalued with padded competition. Ironically thats how Boxing has been with the fighters coming out of this area forever. None have losses, all have bunches of wins by Finishes. Very confusing to the regular eye. We never really know who can take a beating and keep on ticking until the competition has matched the competitors.
Lastly, in the womans division Jasudavicius had a wonderful showing as a slight underdog proving her worth to UFC brass with a mixture of takedowns, octagon control, and a good output of strikes. Really looking forward to more from her, and also Cage Fury fighting organization she was is in as the competition is very game.
