    Fit Father Project Podcast

If you’re a busy guy in your 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, chances are you have heard that you can no longer reap the benefits of the days of your youth. Society has told you that it’s not possible for you to stay lean, stay fit, and have the exuberance and energy you once felt and had as a young man.

These constant messages are telling us that it’s ok to not be our best selves. We don’t have to try or stay hungry as we once did when we were young. We no longer have anything to prove to ourselves. These messages are also contributing to a larger problem we are not addressing.

    Obesity.

In the U.S., today, nearly 50% of all men over 40 are obesity. Being overweight and out of shape is the number one contributor to early death. And today more men are passing away at younger ages than ever before. Cancer diagnoses in men are escalating. Men are being put on prescription meds for blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease at younger ages. And more families are losing fathers and husbands by the day.

Obesity is the enemy, the one that sits on the top of the hill peering down at us from afar. We have allowed for far too long to let ourselves lose.

To take the hill is no easy task. There are no quick fixes. There are no hacks or shortcuts to winning this battle to a better and more healthy life.

The only way to win is to work. Every day, little by little. And with the right methods, tools, and strategies, together we can help you stand tall against the enemy of obesity and mediocrity and take back your life.

Hi, I’m Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, CEO of The Fit Father Project and Host of this show, the Fit Father Project Podcast. For the last 10 years, my team and I have perfected a health and weight loss system designed exclusively For Men Over 40. 40,000 men in over 100 countries have come through Fit Father Project ready to take on their own hill and conquer their enemies.

And now it’s time we help you with yours.

On this podcast, we’re going to cover tactics and strategies to help you wage war against your enemy such as

    – How to increase your testosterone to build age-defying muscle
    – How to make healthy eating simple and sustainable.
    – How to become the best version of yourself.

My commitment to you is to set you up for success. Truth be told, there will be times your mind will tell you to take it easy, to go back to unhealthy habits.

There will be times that the daily stresses of life will make you feel like the only way to deal with it is to eat your favorite junk food meal.

There will be times you will feel satisfied with where you are and give up because you’re content.

But together on this podcast, we will stay the course and conquer the hill.

To get the latest episodes of the Fit Father Project Podcast, follow us on Apple, Spotify, and or wherever you get your podcast and turn your notifications on so you know when a new episode drops.

Water Fasting: My Personal 3-Day Water Fast Protocol Jan 16, 2023
    Show notes

Episode 116 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about water fasting and how it can be so beneficial to your health and wellness.

This is a special episode because I will reveal to you my three-day water fasting protocol that I do several times per year.

Water fasting delivers profound benefits, from activating your immune system and stem cells to getting rid of cellular garbage, and so much more.

Now, if you know anything about the Fit Father Project, you know that intermittent fasting is a regular recommendation.

A 24-hour fast is great because it's something you can do every single week. You have dinner one day, then just drink water, coffee, and/or green tea until dinner the next day.

You can get even more benefits the longer you fast, but that’s not always easy to do!

So, I feel that a three-day fast is a sweet spot between getting maximum benefits without it being a super long and challenging fast.

I know what you’re thinking: a three-day water fast sounds crazy.

But, people water fast for 7, 10 days, and there’s even a case study of a man who water fasted for an entire year!

The point is the body can survive water fasting, and for most people, it’s not detrimental to their health.

So, fasting is appropriate for people who want to lose weight or improve their health.

However, it is unsafe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone with a history of any eating disorder.

Also, people who are on medication to manage diabetes or blood sugar, or if they need to take certain medications with food, should not fast.

Ready to learn more about water fasting?

Then you’ve got to check out this episode!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • The massive benefits of water fasting.
    • The science and research behind water fasting.
    • How fasting makes your body more resilient and higher functioning.
    • The dos and don’ts of fasting.
    • My personal three-day water fasting protocol
    • And so much more!

Cold Exposure: The Benefits Of Exposing Our Bodies To Cold Jan 09, 2023
    Show notes

Episode 115 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about cold exposure and why we get phenomenal health benefits when we expose our bodies to cold.

Our bodies get stronger when we stress them.

Exercise is stress to our muscles, tendons, and cardiovascular system, and after we stress, that kicks in the body's adaptation process to repair and grow stronger.

One of the most fundamental and primal stresses is temperature.

That’s why, every morning after I hydrate, I do a three-minute cold plunge in a cold tub my friend built me out of a big chest freezer.

And that’s what I want you to consider — getting yourself a cold plunge or at least taking some cold showers so you can see the health advantages of cold exposure.

The first thing that happens when you expose your body to cold is you get a stronger immune system.

It has been well documented that the white blood cells that are the champions of our immune system increase in a good, healthy way when exposed to cold.

So if you're looking at maximizing your immune strength, you’ve got to listen to this episode.

It's not just about nutrition, sleeping, and exercise … cold exposure is one of the best things you can do for a stronger immune system.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg (see what I did there?) regarding the myriad health benefits of cold exposure!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • The massive benefits of cold exposure.
    • How it improves your body's stress response.
    • How to become more stress resilient.
    • The keys to decreasing inflammation.
    • Improving your physical performance and recovery.
    • And so much more!

So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on cold exposure, take some notes, and check out FF30X!

Systems Thinking: How To Harness New Year’s Energy Into Life-Long Success (Part 2) Jan 02, 2023
    Show notes

Episode 114 of the Fit Father Project Podcast continues our talk about systems thinking and how to crush your goals, not just this month or next month but well into the future!

As we discussed in Part 1, systems thinking is a holistic mindset that interconnects every aspect of your life.

You (mind, body, and soul) are a system, as is your family, community, city, state, and country.

When we look at ourselves as a series of systems, and understand every part within them, we can make better decisions, stay focused and motivated, and conquer any goal we set.

Your body is a dynamic, interconnected system — trillions of cells, gut bacteria, thoughts, emotions, etc., all of it is connected.

The pressures of work, family, and life are constantly interacting with your goals, desires, and habits, but when you can see the bigger picture, you can create a more robust system that gets you better results in the short term and sustains those results in the long term.

If you missed Part 1, definitely go back and check it out!

But even if you don’t, this episode will give you massive value, as we apply this idea that you are an interconnected dynamic being to the different stages that we move through on our health and fitness journey.

So no matter what stage you're at in your journey, whether you're just starting or a Fit Father veteran, you’ll love this conversation!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • How to get started and/or find your motivation.
    • How to face temptations and setbacks.
    • Dealing with changing relationships.
    • How to keep the positive momentum rolling.
    • Ways to keep reinventing yourself and finding new goals.
    • And so much more!

So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on systems thinking, take some notes, and check out FF30X!

The Keto Diet: What You REALLY Need To Know Dec 19, 2022
    Show notes

Episode 112 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about the keto diet and what you need to know and understand about it.

The ketogenic diet is a very low carbohydrate diet, and it’s different from what we recommend in our Fit Father Project meal plans.

We don't think it's the most optimal approach for most middle-aged people who want to live healthily and have a sustainable lifestyle over the long haul.

All the calories that are in foods come from three main macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

The keto diet basically eliminates carbohydrates from the diet, so the calories you're getting come from proteins and fats.

The keto diet also doesn’t allow any high-sugar or highly processed foods, so a lot of people end up feeling healthier and lose a lot of weight, so they feel like it's a really good solution.

The problem is, and this is my overall diet perspective, is any diet that's restrictive from the get-go is going to cause friction in the long term.

And things that cause friction in the long term are going to set you up for derailing your progress.

Now, I am all for eating a lower carbohydrate diet, particularly if you're cutting out a lot of bad carbs like processed sugars and grains that don't have much nutritional value.

But, the Fit Father Project meal plans intentionally include carbs because of a few key reasons.

We discuss those reasons — and so much more — in this episode.

It’s time to learn the TRUTH about keto!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • What the keto diet is and what its goals are.
    • The importance of a healthy, functioning metabolism — and how to achieve it.
    • How to become insulin sensitive and metabolically flexible.
    • The science of intermittent fasting.
    • The importance of sleep and hydration.
    • And so much more!

So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on the keto diet, take some notes, and check out FF30X!

In this episode, you’ll meet Brian, a 49-year-old husband, father, and grandfather, who has made some powerful and inspiring life changes.

Earlier this year, like so many of us do year after year, Brian decided on New Year’s Day that he wanted to focus on his fitness.

He had worked for many years to control his drinking and other vices, but family, life, and work continued to put his nutrition and fitness on the back burner.

Once Brian decided to start focusing on fitness, he joined our Old School Muscle (OSM) program and honed in his eating with our nutrition plans.

He then packed on the muscle mass, got six-pack abs, and he’s looking and feeling fantastic.

And he did all of this inside of nine months!

Now he's about to be 50 feeling healthier, stronger, and much more aligned with his life.

This is a really powerful conversation and will show you what you can do in a short period of time when you have the right training plan, get focused, and you get some structure to follow.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • How to find consistency and structure.
    • The benefits of intermittent fasting.
    • The keys to clean eating.

Regaining Mobility, Featuring Trent McEntire of Fire Up Your Brain Nov 14, 2022
    Show notes

Episode 107 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about regaining mobility and enhancing brain performance.

In this episode, you’ll meet Trent McEntire of Fire Up Your Brain, a man who has been helping people gain back their mobility for over two decades.

Born with a mild form of Cerebral Palsy, Trent experienced pain and stiffness every day from the time he was a child.

However, Trent's creative problem-solving abilities kicked in, transforming his movement capabilities to participate in his love for sports.

What Trent discovered to repair his own body became the foundation for what would be his life’s work.

As a movement professional, Trent saw a path where he could help others who had movement limitations.

He opened up his studio to work with clients and train other movement professionals in the work he had been practicing to repair his limitations.

For more than 20 years, Trent has taught his transformational neuro-movement methods and tools to thousands of clients and movement professionals across the globe.

Trent’s work has helped many people move past their most debilitating situations — children who struggle with focus, seniors who have lost their balance and mobility, individuals experiencing neurological conditions, and athletes who have suffered concussions, injuries, and other debilitating situations.

Today, Trent’s mission is to get his methods and tools out to everyone who needs help.

The Fire Up Your Brain program was created as a fun, engaging, and affordable way to support this mission.

In addition to his professional teaching, Trent spends his time problem-solving and educating the world through his AskTrent Live programming, building a network of BrainSpeed Coaches, and speaking engagements to further educate the public on enhancing brain performance.

He’s a unique and dynamic guy, and you’re sure to love this conversation!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • What ‘The Movement Gap’ is and why people are losing hope in the medical community.
    • How to use a whole brain approach to help those with neurological conditions to improve their quality of life.
    • Why improving eye movement is key in improving posture, strength, mobility, coordination, balance, regulation, and confidence throughout the entire body.
    • How to train your nervous system and sensory input.
    • How to have a sharper clarity of mind.
    • How to improve balance coordination, your mood, and focus.
    • And so much more!

So, if you want to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on regaining mobility, take some notes, and check out FF30X!
