He then invited parents to share their tough stories, to show everyone that they are never alone in their trials. Parents opened up about dilemmas that felt terrifying and unsolvable. They shared about overdoses, run aways, relapses, and seemingly intractable behavioral problems. The goal in this episode was not to troubleshoot and help parents solve their problems, but rather to model what truly seeing and hearing "the Other" as they vulnerably share looks and feels like.
