    Fill Me In

Fill Me In is a crossword podcast, or at least, that’s what it pretends to be. Most of the time, it’s about other things (including, but not limited to: soup, Thor, Rosana Ñler, sandwiches, Stephen Sondheim, Viewer Mail, vuvuzelas, inappropriate glorification of the E Division, and more), but occasionally, we also talk about crosswords.

Fill Me In #227: A fine ribbon of red cloth. Jan 21, 2020
    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian battle a cryptic crossword, weigh the values of a Philadelphia roll, and render apologies. The first five minutes are about baseball, but after that, we talk puzzles. Links: Scott Weiss's Anti-Match Quiz • Ben Zimmer's 2019 nominees for Word of the Year

We're putting these words here to help with search engine optimization. We don't think it will work, but you probably haven't read this far, so it doesn't matter: baseball, crossword, crosswords, etymology, game, hunt, movies, musicals, mystery, oscar, pizza, puzzle, puzzles, soup, trivia, words

Fill Me In #226: Get what it's called! Jan 14, 2020
    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian spend the first 30 minutes of this way-too-long episode on Learned League and baseball — that's a warning to you. Skip ahead to 28:26 for Viewer Mail. But also: cryptics, Centuplicates, and Brian gets no thunder of his own. Last week's Contest Of Now is still available at http://bit.ly/fmi225con.

    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian get a second report on Two Across, practice saying 4-digit numbers and words with silent letters, and offer a two-week contest which can be found at http://bit.ly/fmi225con. Also, Beauty and the Beast may have closed, but the puzzles live on!

    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian discuss whether the rules of language have any value whatsoever, and that pretty much sets the tone for their entire lives. Also, congratulations to Amanda Yesnowitz and Brendan McGrady on their wedding!

This week, Ryan plays a new board game, Brian recommends an old crossword, and they both delight in editorial changes at a major newspaper (not the New York Times).

Fill Me In #220: Step 1, boil the oil; step 2, submerge the bird. Dec 03, 2019
    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian talk about garbage television, eerie coincidences, and maybe a crossword or two. Honestly, this might be the least amount of worthy content ever disguised as 64 minutes of a podcast. Notes from today: Scott Weiss's Anti-Match quiz ... and the never-popular mycrankytweets.com.

Fill Me In #219: A nice piece of isolation. Nov 26, 2019
    Show notes

This week, Ryan and Brian discuss the impending doom of Thanksgiving, whether donuts and muffins are similar enough, and make remarkably few comments about baseball. Oh, also there are some crosswords in there. Yup.

Fill Me In #218: Maybe that's part of the master plan, denying it. Nov 19, 2019
    Show notes

We had to redact a good portion of this introductory paragraph because Brian kept almost swearing. Also, we somehow discuss cheating without invoking the good name of Maddie Gillespie, so maybe we're running low on marbles.
