Feast of Fun: Gay Talk Show

Interviews with amazing people, comedians and LGBTQ+ legends, with pop culture and politics wrapped up in a delicious candy coating of camp.

Hosted by Puerto Rican drag queen Fausto Fernós and his husband, Norwegian reality TV star Marc Felion, Feast of Fun began as one of the original 50 podcasts featured on iTunes in 2006, and celebrated by Apple: Feast of Fun “helped bring podcasting from an underground movement to a mainstream phenomenon.” Five time winner of the People’s Choice Podcast Award for Best LGBT podcast.

We’ve done thousands of shows with wonderfully wild people, LGBTQ legends and their friends, and tackle the tough questions like: is Sasquatch a drag queen? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

Subscribe and join us as we chat with gay musicians, counterculture comedians, trans pirates, lesbian warriors and pagan witches and celebrate the ridiculous and transform pain into pleasure.

FOF #2342 – Jaymes Manfsield: The Women Who Inspired Drag Queens Jun 10, 2016

Show notes

Behind every great drag queen is a great woman- female entertainers who inspired them to be the outrageous drag queen we all love.
Many queens cite Divine as a key influence on their drag, but the iconic drag queen herself was profoundly inspired by the great Liz Taylor. RuPaul drew inspiration from Diana Ross, and Lady Bunny certainly mirrored Dusty Springfield’s look and life except the eating at the Y part.
Like mixing an upper with a downer, these great ladies gave us the speedball that is drag.

FOF #2341 – Kerthy Fix: Taming the Fame Monster Jun 09, 2016

Show notes

With the rise of internet media and reality television, thousands of people with modest artistic and entertainment careers are now finding themselves overwhelmed with success.
Lady Gaga was right- fame is a monster: you lose friends and family over jealousy, you feel drained after too many gigs and are left wondering how you’re going to find the energy for your next project.
You let the love you get from your fans turn you into a big jerk.
And some show up as big jerks to become even bigger jerks.
And some show up as big jerks to become even bigger jerks.
And worse of all, you feel like you’re messing up your “one chance” at success and worry this opportunity will never come again.
Jiggly Caliente will always have a permanent home in our hearts.
Jiggly Caliente will always have a permanent home in our hearts.
These are problems worth having, but problems nonetheless.
Today we’re joined by reality TV producer and filmmaker Kerthy Fix to talk about common mistakes people make when they become famous because of reality television.
Listen as we talk about how some made it through the wilderness and others who fell into the flames of success.

FOF #2313 – Latrice Royale Infuses Jazz with Pizazz Mar 25, 2016

Show notes

One of the sweetest drag queens to ever come out of RuPaul’s Drag Race is Latrice Royale, who like Dr. Dre is straight out of Compton, or gay out of Compton.
Amazingly, she’s survived it all: having two brothers caught up in gangs and then she served time in prison for possession of a small amount of marijuana and a single pill of klonopin.
Today, Latrice Royale joins us to talk about her new album “Here’s to Life,” a collection of jazz classics that pays tribute to strong black women in show business like Broadway’s Ruth Brown and jazz icon Shirley Horn.
Latrice’s boyfriend Christopher Hamblin serves as the pianist and arranger for the album with fellow Drag Race contestant Mimi Imfurst as the album’s producer!
Listen as we talk with Latrice about her amazing drag family of Jasmine Masters, Lady Red Couture and Kennedy Davenport. What do these gals kiki about when the cameras aren’t rolling?
Chicago, check out her on April 2 at the Divas of Drag Showcase at the House of Blues.
PLUS:

➤ What Latrice Royale has to say about RuPaul’s latest interview that has everyone on the internet talking.

Show notes

We met Jonny McGovern and Lady Red Couture in person at the Austin International Drag Festival, and fell in love. There are very few people who cover the same things as we do, so we instantly clicked over our shared passion for the art of drag.
Jonny and Lady Red recently premiered a new season of their hit Youtube talk show Hey Qween as well as unveiling a new website filled with more “gayest of all time” content.
Today we kiki with Jonny and Lady Red from their home in L.A. about who is hot on this season on RuPaul’s Drag Race and what to expect at the Austin International Drag Festival.
Listen as Jonny weighs in on why drag queens all of a sudden have to be nice, chastises us for not being timid enough, and Lady Red slut shames us to filth!

FOF #2277 – PrEP Pioneers Jan 26, 2016

Show notes

Since the AIDS crisis of the late 80s, condoms have been urged as gospel for gay men to prevent the spread of HIV. But that’s all changing now with PrEP, the use of anti-HIV medication to keep HIV negative people from becoming infected.
Despite the reality that we now have a powerful tool to eradicate the spread of HIV, many governments and agencies around the world are taking their sweet time to implement it.
Today we’re joined by two pioneers working tirelessly to raise awareness for Prep: Damon L Jacobs , whose work on social media, PrEP Facts, has led to an acknowledgement by the World Health Organization for his efforts and Brandyn Gallagher whose group Outshine Northwest is currently working to raise similar awareness for trans men,TransMSM.
Is taking Truvada really as safe as a daily course of aspirin? Listen as we tackle this, the rise and fall of slur words and how Damon and Brandyn handle controversy in running an internet forum on a delicate topic as HIV/AIDS.

FOF #2268 – The Island of Misfit 80s Toys Dec 17, 2015

Show notes

During the holiday season, a lot of folks look back fondly on their childhood. For those of us who were kids in the 80s, we got to play with some incredibly strange and wonderful toys.
It’s a miracle we aren’t dead, demented or in prison.
Today we’re taking a walk down memory lane of the strange 80s, a time when coked up conservatives ruled every facet of American politics and culture, and our toys were the stuff of nightmares.
Joining us today is the fine ass Sith lord of popular culture and all things girly Robyn Pennacchia who writes about culture news and politics for The Frisky.
Listen as we talk about: Gobbles the Goat and Baby Alive-creepy dolls who really ate things, toxic slime for kids, disturbing dating games for girls and those sad, depressing Sea Monkeys.
Plus—
➤ Carly Fiorina’s political career goes to the dogs.
➤ Trump says he doesn’t have enough water to wash his hair.
➤ People who still haven’t seen and will not see any Star Wars movie.
