This was a long time coming but the battle between the super clubs of soccer vs. everyone else has now begun with the announcement of 12 of the largest teams in Europe (Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Tottenham Hotspur) opting to form their own league and withdraw from UEFA competition. I provide my thoughts on the financial rationale driving this audacious move and where things go from here.
